You are about to bid on my 1973 Mercury Cougar. CONVERTIBLE. This is a running , drivable car , and starts right up every time. 351 2 barrel Cleveland motor, with auto trans, C6? not sure, I believe it has a 9 inch rear (open, not posi). I bought this car recently with the hopes of fixing it up and repainting it , but we have decided to sell instead and concentrate on our 69 Charger project car. As stated the car starts, runs and drives and stops, but due to the fact it was sitting for several years , It needs attention and work to make it a safe driver. It is a 2 owner car, with a clean NJ title. The brakes are low and should be redone, E brake seems stuck, tires are very old and should be replaced, engine runs, but definitely needs tune up, wires plugs, etc. I have just changed the oil, and fuel filters, added some carb cleaner and pvc, thats it. When I got the car it had a cracked windshield, I just had that replaced last week along with new wipers at a cost of 300.00$. The top is power and it works, the canvas is older but not ripped, the plastic back window was shot so I removed it. All glass is good and all 4 regulators good, Windshield is NEW. It has the sequential taillights, floor shifter, Interior needs some work but not terrible. THE FLOORS ALL SEEM GOOD. I DONT SEE ANY RUST THRU, THE TRUNK FLOOR AND CONVERTIBLE TOP WELL AREA IS ALL GOOD !!! Weather these parts were repaired before , i dont know, There is surface rust on bumpers, rust on leading edge of hood. Havent really been under the car yet, I plan on getting under there tomorrow to secure the exhaust pipe and I will take some pictures of the under body. It seems like the car had an amatuer restoration some years ago, at least 10, when they did bondo repairs on the lower quarters and wheel lips, This is when they put on the yellow paint job right over a nice dk. blue color, which may be the original color, I dont know much about Ford cars or Cougars. The car has old school air shocks and traction bars on rear. This is getting long so, In a nutshell, you can easily have a fun , summer cruiser on a budget, new tires and a new paint job , OR you have an outstanding start point for a sweet Cougar Restoration or Restomod. Any questions please ask, Please ask for any specific pictures and I will get them posted next day, If you have 0 feedbacks, dont bid!!

Watch as an out-of-control car demolishes gas pump
Tue, May 2 2017A Baltimore area man was fighting for his life Tuesday after crashing his car into a gas station. According to WBAL, the unidentified 64-year-old lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons around 4:55 a.m. May 1 in Parkville, Md. The 2007 Mercury Milan careened downhill, ramped over a curb, and smashed full-speed into a gas station pump. The car then flipped and came to rest against one of the station's canopy support pillars. Don Karbowniczek, owner of a service station across the street, told WBAL he was shocked there wasn't more damage. It's also surprising that the car even made it to the pumps, as it had to thread past a coin-op vacuum machine, the station's sign, a utility pole, and a traffic light pole. "It came right through, took some of our bushes out, just trimmed them for us, and how it got through and flip the way it did, I don't know. From what I see on the marks, it had to go airborne and just come down on the pump," Karbowniczek said. Thankfully there was no fire or explosion. Gas pumps have shear valves - safety devices that immediately cut the flow of gasoline when a pump is damaged. The driver was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, and was in critical condition. Police theorized the driver may have become stricken with a health issue when he lost control. Petrolicious shows Mercedes 280SL as architecture in motion
Wed, Jun 17 2015While still an absolute beauty today, the design of the pagoda-roof W113 Mercedes-Benz SL was revolutionary when it debuted. Moving away from the soft curves of the previous SL models, the all-new generation brought an upright, angular shape that was as much architectural as automotive. In the latest video from Petrolicious, owner and architect Daniel Monti expounds on the inspiration that he gets from his 1969 280SL's fantastic styling. The roof is the most famous design feature of this generation of SL. Look at the top from the front or back, and you can see a gentle, downward arc that evokes the look of a pagoda. That one styling element is also a fabulous counterpoint to a vehicle that is largely more angular than curvaceous. Petrolicious wonderfully illustrates how some of the SL's form-follows-function design aesthetic can be found in the architect's work in this video's heaping helping of mid-century modern goodness.
Junkyard Gem: 1989 Mercury Tracer Four-Door Hatchback
Sat, Mar 6 2021During the life of the Mercury brand, which began in 1939 and ended in 2011, nearly every Mercury sold in North America was a cosmetically enhanced version of some Ford model also sold here. The exceptions to this rule came when Mercury sold Fords originally designed for non-North American markets, and for which no Ford-branded version existed on our shores. The 1991-1994 Capri was such a car, as was the 1999-2002 Cougar (the Mondeo-based Cougar was unique among all Mercuries in that no other cars in the sprawling Ford Empire shared its body). The 1970-1978 Capri was sold through Mercury dealers here, but never had Mercury badging. One of the rarest of all these Mercury cars was the first-generation Tracer, a Mazda design that made its way here via Australia. The bloodline of the Tracer goes back to the Mazda 323, the ancestor of today's Mazda3 and the platform used for all those US-market Ford Escorts of the 1990s. Starting in 1991, the Tracer name went onto badge-engineered Escorts, according to Mercury tradition, but the 1988-1989 Tracers were based on the Australian-market Ford KE Laser. Underneath all of those cars (as well as the early-1990s Capris) lived Mazda 323 running gear, of course. This one nearly made it to the 175,000-mile mark during its time on the road, which is respectable by the standards of 1980s Mazdas. With an automatic transmission transferring the 84 horses from its Mazda B6 engine to the front wheels, this car wouldn't have offered a great deal of driving excitement. 1989 Tracer buyers could choose between a two-door hatchback, a four-door hatchback, and a four-door wagon. Not many Americans hurried over to their local Mercury dealers to buy Tracers, despite the fact that the nearest Ford-badged identical twins were on the other side of the globe. Mercury still seemed relevant in the late 1980s, but its days were numbered. The actress driving the Tracer in this TV commercial seems to have the same deer-in-headlights facial expression of the hapless driver-training students in the 1968 AMC Rebel commercial.
