Harrison, Ohio, United States
!!UP FOR AUCTION!! 1973 Mercury Cougar
XR7 Convertible w/ 351 Cleveland engine with 4 barrel carburetor VIN: 3F94Q571928 Mileage: 44,505 Miles Up for auction is a 1973 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible w/
351 Cleveland engine with 4 barrel carburetor. This car belonged to my
grandfather until he passed away last fall and left it to my brother and
I. He purchased the car BRAND NEW in
1973. It has been garage kept ever since and driven very sparingly, as you can
see by the fact that it only has 44,505 miles! WOW! The car is in very good
condition and is all original (other than aftermarket tape player). Take your
time to look at all the pictures and you will be very happy with this car. Only 3,166 of the 1973 Cougar XR7
Convertibles were produced! The Good: Body condition – You aren’t going to find very many cars
from 1973 that are in anywhere near as good as shape as this vehicle Mileage – WOW! 44,505 miles! These are all original miles.
No modifications or rebuilds have ever been done to this engine. VERY VERY LOW
MILEAGE for a car made in 1973! One Owner – This car was purchased BRAND NEW by my
grandfather in 1973. Garage Kept – This car has been garage kept since the day he
bought it! Convertible Top & Cover – These are both in very good
shape. Convertible top glides right back into place with a flick of the switch
and the cover fits nice and snug for a nice ride. Leather Interior – Leather does show some small signs of
wear, but overall is in very good shape! Trunk – Nice and clean! Spare tire included! ALL ORIGINAL! – Other then the aftermarket cassette tape
player, this car is exactly the way it was when my grandfather brought it home
brand new in 1973! No modifications or rebuilds! All original mileage, and very
very low mileage! Runs great – Fires right up and rides nice and smooth! The Bad: If you have any questions or would like to see some
additional pictures about any of the topics below feel free to email me and I
will get back to you as soon as possible. I intend to paint a clear picture
with my description and pictures as to what the car really looks like. Leather Interior – Shows some signs of wear, but are very
minimal. Overall the leather is still is very good shape. Tires – Needs a new set of tires Rear Passenger Side Panel & Passenger Door Jamb – There
is a very small amount of paint chipping off and a small amount of rust forming
in this area. It is very minimal. It has not rusted through completely and
appears to just be surface rust. Inside Passenger Door Handle – Seems to be hanging down
slightly versus what the handle looks like on the driver’s side door. Still
works just fine though. Clock in middle console – This doesn’t appear to be working
currently. I haven’t attempted to figure out what the problem is. Could be
something very simple, such as a fuse. Driver’s Seat – Small tear leather on the seam on the left
side of the driver’s seat Driver’s Door Pull Handle – I have the handle, but it isn’t
currently attached to the door. The handle has some yellow discoloring to it as
well. Convertible Tops & Cover – These both have some slight
wear, but are still in good shape. Front Driver’s Side Panel – Looks like some splatter of
something from the road and possibly some small amount of paint chipping. Air Conditioning – The car has air conditioning, but it isn’t
currently working. When I had the car looked over when I first took possession
of the car I was told it needed to be recharged. Overall this is an
amazing vehicle. My grandfather took great care of it and made sure that it
would continue to be a great vehicle for somebody to own for years to come. If
I had somewhere to keep it and could afford the insurance and regular upkeep on
it I would love to keep it, but unfortunately without a regular space to keep
it in forever and my first child on the way I must part ways with it
unfortunately. My grandfather has taken great care of this car and now it must
find a new home and a new owner to take just as great of care of it. Should you have any
questions don’t hesitate to contact me and I will get back with you ASAP. I was
only able to upload 24 pictures to the listing, but I have additional pictures
that I can send to anybody at their request. This car is located just outside
of Cincinnati, OH, so if you are interested and would like to see the car in
person feel free to message me and we can setup a meeting. Happy bidding and I
look forward to selling you a great vehicle. Thank you On May-20-14 at 19:46:42 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional Condition Note: It was just pointed out to me, and I apologize for missing this in my condition description, but on the rear passenger side wheel house the chrome strip is no longer in place like it is on the other wheel housing. Thank you |

The AM37 is literally the Aston Martin of boats
Wed, Sep 28 2016While sports car companies such as Porsche and Lamborghini are looking to SUVs to expand their offerings, Aston Martin has taken a page from Mercedes and designed a boat. Specifically, it's a 37-foot powerboat appropriately named the AM37. The boat was developed with help from Mulder Design and Quintessence Yachts, and is available in two different versions, both of which should the aquatic equivalent of Aston Martin performance. The standard AM37 is available with two different pairs of engines from Mercury, either 370-horsepower diesel engines or 450-horsepower gas engines. If that's not enough, Aston also offers the AM37S, which comes with a pair of 520-horsepower gasoline Mercury engines. Like road-going Astons, this boat is absolutely gorgeous. The lines are simple, crisp and clean. It features a beautiful wood deck, and an impressive double-curved, single-piece glass windshield. And if you get tired of the sun, the AM37 features a powered, carbon fiber bimini top. The interior completes the package with a carbon fiber dashboard, lots of leather and polished steering wheel, throttle and joystick. It's also incredibly well-equipped with seating for eight, air conditioning, mood lighting, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, a bed that folds out from the table, and even a bathroom. Aston Martin didn't release pricing or availability for the AM37. However, we suspect that if you really want this boat and have the means, pricing doesn't matter, and you're probably willing to wait. Junkyard Gem: 1973 Mercury Marquis Brougham 4-Door Pillared Hardtop
Tue, Nov 7 2023Ford's Mercury Division debuted the Marquis in the 1967 model year, as a sporty coupe based on a stretched Ford LTD chassis. When the LTD got an update for 1969, so did the Marquis, and production of that generation of the top-of-the-line Mercury continued through 1978 (the Grand Marquis hit streets the following year). The 1969-1978 Marquis was a big, imposing land yacht, and the Brougham version came absolutely loaded with affordable luxury. Today's Junkyard Gem is a Marquis Brougham from the first year of the Malaise Era, found in a Phoenix self-service car graveyard recently. This car appears to have spent decades sitting outdoors in one of the harshest climates in the country, and so it's in rough shape. The vinyl top received the full thermonuclear treatment and is mostly obliterated by now. The interior got thoroughly cooked as well. Still, its original opulence shines through if you use some imagination. What hurts is that this car was packed with most of the good options, including the mighty 460-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 engine with four-barrel carburetor. The price for the 460 was just $76 in this car, or around $548 in today's money. The base engine was a 429 (7.0-liter). Power numbers were way down for 1973 when compared to a couple of years earlier, partly as the result of tightening emissions standards but mostly due to the switch from gross to net power ratings that began midway during 1971 and was completed by the end of 1972. This engine was rated at 202 horsepower and 330 pound-feet. The only transmission available was a three-speed automatic. We can assume that the original buyer of this car and its single-digit fuel economy had a rough time when the OPEC oil embargo hit in the fall of 1973. Believe it or not, air conditioning was not standard equipment on the '73 Marquis Brougham (you had to move up to a Lincoln for that). This one even has the automatic temperature control feature, adding a total of $508 to the cost of this car (about $3,661 in 2023 dollars). That AM/FM/8-track radio—or, in fact, any radio—was an extra-cost option as well, with a price tag of $363 ($2,616 after inflation). The MSRP for the 1973 Marquis Brougham sedan (known as a "pillared hardtop" thanks to the frameless window glass) was $5,072, which comes to $36,555 in today's dollars. Obviously, its out-the-door cost would have been much higher with all the options.
eBay Find of the Day: Mercury Marauder two-door convertible
Wed, 31 Aug 2011Never underestimate what you'll see on eBay Motors. Take this unique creation, for example. Near as we can tell, it's the same 2002 Mercury Marauder that was modified into a two-door convertible by Ford for the 2002 Chicago Auto Show. According to the seller, this car still boasts its Eaton supercharger bolted to a 4.6-liter V8 engine, and at the time of its debut, the engine was rated at a lofty 335 horsepower. We have a hard time believing that the extra ponies would do much to offset the weight of the additional frame stiffeners and top mechanism on the car, however.
The vehicle is currently offered for sale by a dealer in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, though the listing is mum on how the convertible managed to make its way from Ford's Windy City show stand into the seller's inventory. If you like what you see, the machine can be yours for the princely sum of $75,000 or best offer. Head over to eBay Motors to take a gander at the listing.
