This car is one of the best driving and looking not to mention fun cougars that I have ever owned, and in the last 30 plus years have had a bunch. The car is about 99.8 percent rust free, has one spot half the size of the end of your pinkie finger under paint at drivers bottom door corner and three bubbles same size under paint on pass. side bottom behind rear wheel, that's it,,,, car is fantastic,,,, The body is fantastic and the interior is like new,,,, head liner and vynol top are about two years old and are great,,  The outside and inside of this car are almost like new for the year,, The inside has NO !! holes, tears or rips,,, NONE !!! All outside and inside lights work, even trunk and glove box light  (clock and clock light don't work),,, All gauges work except the factory tach, it works but not correctly so added a 8000 rpm tach to steering column, and yes the factory RIM BLOW HORN WORKS !!!!!!!! Car was a factory 3-Speed manual but was changed to a Tremec TKO 5-speed, Work was done right,,, shifts perfect with NO vibration in drive train,, and I MEAN NONE !!! The rear end was changed to a posi rear end, NO winds or howls,,,,,, at 65 to 70 mph on freeway only tachs out at 2500 rpm so car is great for street or freeway and good on gas. Also has Wilwood racing disc brakes on front. This car is not a Barrett Jackson show car, not so much for condition but because of the salvage title, but this car is every bit as good as it looks and I think allot better, I know car was hit on drivers side quarter panel and one a-arm has been replaced, but could not have been hit hard and was repaired correctly,, looks fantastic and drives perfect,,,,, we all know how many old cars have had huge sections cut out because of rust and damage, some times put together from three or four diff cars but they still have a clear title,,, this car has none of that,,,!!!!  This is the perfect driver and local car show car to win some trophies,,,, so with the condition and the way it drives unless you are taking it to Barrett Jackson Auction the title shouldn't matter,, and yes you can get classic car insurance like Hagerty or other companies except AAA, they won't do classic insurance on salvage title.  So I don't want to hear anything about the title,,,, car is worth every penny I'm asking and more,,,,,,, just take a look at factory stick shifts on eBay and Craigslist and other sites to see what they sell for especially one in this condition if you can even find one this nice,,,,  I welcome inspections,,, take a look or bring your mechanic to check it out,, car has NO mechanical problems,,!!!!!!!!  No over heating, no noises,,, drive train is perfect,,,  Remember this is a fantastic car but is used so is sold AS-IS ,,,,,,, This is eBay so if you bid and win,, YOU OWN IT ,,,!!!!!!  please ask all questions before you bid,,,!!!!!  Also the lic plates are personal plates and unless car gets at least $500.00 over reserve or is sold to out of state bidder I'm keeping the plates,,,, call, message or text me with any questions and I will do my best to honestly answer your questions,, all answers will be very honest, not lies or stretching the truth,,,, I value my feed back,,,,,  number is 562-274-5637   Best time to call is between 5:30 and 11:00 Monday thru Friday and anytime on weekends, if can't answer phone please leave a message and will return it as soon as possible.  Good luck and happy bidding ,,,,,,,

Petrolicious shows Mercedes 280SL as architecture in motion

Wed, Jun 17 2015

While still an absolute beauty today, the design of the pagoda-roof W113 Mercedes-Benz SL was revolutionary when it debuted. Moving away from the soft curves of the previous SL models, the all-new generation brought an upright, angular shape that was as much architectural as automotive. In the latest video from Petrolicious, owner and architect Daniel Monti expounds on the inspiration that he gets from his 1969 280SL's fantastic styling. The roof is the most famous design feature of this generation of SL. Look at the top from the front or back, and you can see a gentle, downward arc that evokes the look of a pagoda. That one styling element is also a fabulous counterpoint to a vehicle that is largely more angular than curvaceous. Petrolicious wonderfully illustrates how some of the SL's form-follows-function design aesthetic can be found in the architect's work in this video's heaping helping of mid-century modern goodness.

Question of the Day: Most degraded car name?

Fri, May 27 2016

When Ford came up with a not-so-sporty version of the Pinto and slapped Mustang badges on it in 1974, that was a low point for the Mustang name. When Chrysler applied the venerable Town & Country name on perfectly functional but unglamorous minivans, it saddened many of us. But perhaps the biggest demotion for a once-proud model came when, in 1988, General Motors imported a misery-enhancing Daewoo from Korea and called it the Pontiac LeMans. The original Pontiac LeMans was a great-looking midsize car with fairly advanced (for the time) suspension design and engine options including potent V8s and a screaming overhead-cam straight-six. The Daewoo-based Pontiac LeMans was a cramped, shoddy hooptie that served only to ruin the LeMans name forever, while stealing sales from the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Sprint. Sure, using the once-respected Monterey name on the Mercurized Ford Freestar was bad, but Mercury didn't have long to live at that point. I say the downward spiral of the LeMans name was the most agonizing in automotive history. What do you think? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Junkyard Gem: 1991 Mercury Capri

Mon, Sep 19 2016

Ford has gotten a lot of use out of the Capri name in the United States. First, there was the Lincoln Capri in the 1950s, followed by the Ford Capri Mk1 (which was sold by Mercury dealers in the USA but never actually badged as a Mercury). Then came the 1979-1986 Mercury Capri, built on the very successful Fox Platform and essentially a clone of the Mustang. Finally, in 1991, the Australian Ford Capri came to the United States. Here is an example of this rare car that I spotted in a Northern California self-service yard not long ago. Mechanically speaking, the 1991-1994 Capri was a Mazda 323 under the skin, complete with a member of the same B-series engine family that went into such cars as the Miata and Ford Escort. So, for a few years in the early 1990s, car shoppers who wanted a sporty Mazda convertible could choose between a Miata and a Capri. The Capri had front-wheel-drive, but could be had with factory turbocharging. These cars were reliable and fun, but had a tough time competing with the Miata in the showroom battles. You'll see the occasional example now and then, but most of the 1991-1994 Capris have met the same fate that awaits this one. Related Video:
