1969 Mercury Cougar Base 5.8l on 2040-cars
Lincoln, Nebraska, United States
Selling my 1969 Mercury Cougar. I have too many projects. This is a standard cougar. It has a 351w that runs but the carb sucks and I run it out of a separate gas can as the car sat for along time. I was going to use this as a parts car for one of my other cougars because it is a complete vehicle which is probably what you would want to do as it has rust through in the torque boxes and rear frame rails. However it is a complete car and I have a good title in my name. Tires are decent and the brakes don't work as I popped a brake line loading it on to my trailer a few months ago. Glass is good as well as the the trim around the front and rear windshield. It is an automatic and it has the 9" rear end with the old school traction bars on it. Might be a fun car to beat the crap out of for awhile and then use the parts on something else. Sorry it doesn't have a front bumper and sorry again guys there isn't a tilt steering column. Doors open and shut fine and the window cranks all work This is about all I know about the car because I only bought it a few months ago. Hopefully the pictures will explain the rest but let me know if you have questions. I will help load on to a trailer with your shipper but I won't be delivering. I'm listing the car for less than what I think the drivetrain and parts are all worth to me. Thanks

Curtain officially comes down on Mercury as dealers remove signage
Mon, 03 Jan 2011The process of shutting down the Mercury is complete. Ford officially made the decision to close its mid-level brand in June of 2010. In the months that followed, Ford offered its dealers money to stop selling the cars, with production shutting down in September. The last Mercury, a Mariner, rolled off the assembly line in the beginning of October and former spokesperson Jill Wagner said her good-byes to both the car and her job. Now the last piece of the brand has come down as dealers are removing any and all Mercury signage from their lots.

What do you do with a fake Bugatti Veyron for $60k?
Tue, Mar 29 2016Replica cars are a challenging labor of love because builders spend countless hours recreating a vehicle that people immediately compare to the real thing. Perhaps, the person behind this Mercury Cougar-based Bugatti Veyron should look for another way to pass that time. The coupe is currently for sale on eBay Motors for $59,900. The builder deserves some credit because the fiberglass body looks acceptable in the photos from farther away. The car might even fool a few people from a distance. However, the devil is in the details, and the closer you look, the worse this gets. The side intakes are especially rough. The red interior is atrocious. It's essentially the Cougar's cabin but in an eye-searing shade accented with lots of fake carbon fiber. The seller's eBay Motors ad really tries to market the look, though. "You slide in to [sic] this extremely comfortable leather interior and you feel like your bank account just quadrupled in size," the listing says. Don't expect to win any top speed titles in this Veyron replica, either. Rather than a mid-mounted quad-turbo W16, a 3.0-liter V6 from a Mercury Sable sits at the front. Thanks to an upgraded intake and exhaust, the seller claims, "It doesn't sound like your grandmas [sic] Sable." We wish the seller the best of luck, but the asking price of nearly $60,000 is probably too optimistic. We would still think twice about buying it even after taking a zero off that figure, but at least this thing is fun to look at. Related Video:
Ford announces bevy of recalls, 2 of which are recalls on recalls
Tue, 04 Nov 2014
Ford has announced five separate recalls, affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
It's not been a great couple of weeks for Ford. On October 30, the company announced a 205,000-unit recall, and yesterday, it was revealed that the Ford brand's year-over-year sales were down over 5,000 units while the company itself was down 3,000 units over through October. Now, the company has announced five separate recalls affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
