1967 Mercury Cougar - LOW RESERVE

Offered for sale is a beautiful 1967 Mercury Cougar. This Cougar has only 97,998 Original Miles. Runs/drives great. 302 V8/Automatic Transmission. Very nice unmolested/unmodified car. Before I purchased the car it was in the same family since the late 60s. Clearly always been taken care of, very tight car. No rust or rot, floors /trunk/ torqueboxes are solid and in the condition you would expect of a car this nice. Recently re-chromed bumpers. As you can see this Cougar shows very nicely.

I drove over 300 miles in this car last weekend and it ran/drove fantastic. Car had brand new set of tires put on last week (see last picture, other pictures were taken last Wednesday before they were put on). Needs nothing to be driven and enjoyed as-is. Has sequential turn-signals and they work awesome. Currently you do need to flip the headlights manually and the heater core is currently disconnected (it works, too well for me in the middle of the summer even when completely off). Truly a very nice Cougar that hasn't been messed around with. If you're reading this listing you likely know how hard it is to find a car like this.

Please look at pictures, they tell the story of this car and illustrate the condition better than I can. It's not a perfect 100 point show car but it is very nice. Please ask questions before bidding. I invite any and all interested parties to come inspect the car in 02631. Car has very realistic reserve and should sell. I have sold several cars on Ebay and the buyers have always been happy, I want the lucky new owner of this Cougar to feel the same way.

You can find 90+ high quality detail pictures of this car at the link below--

Terms of sale: $500 Paypal deposit due within 24 hours of auction end. Balance to be paid in cash, wire transfer or certified bank check. Car will not be released until all funds clear. Car is sold as-is with a Maine registration in my name and bill of sale (this will allow you to register the car in any state, Maine is a no title state for cars older than 15 years). Car is sold as-is, where-is but I will be happy to assist your shipper in any way possible. I'm an honest seller, not going to BS you or waste your time, please extend me the same courtesy. Thanks

Ford recalling 126,000 Fusions and Milans over wheel separation concern

Fri, 09 Dec 2011

Ford has announced a recall of certain Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan vehicles after an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A total of 128,616 2010 and 2011 models equipped with steel wheels may have been manufactured with wheel studs that could crack and split over time. If that happens, the vehicle may experience a wheel separation.
According to The Detroit News, the company is aware of a total of 30 wheel separation incidents, one of which occurred on the front of the vehicle. Even so, no injuries have been reported as a result of the defect.
The problem apparently stems from the fact that the mounting pads on the vehicles' steel wheels may have been faulty from the factory. In addition, the wheel mounting face on rear disc brakes may not have been installed properly. Ford will inspect the rear disc face and replace them as necessary. In addition, the company will replace all of the vehicle's wheel studs free of charge. Head to the NHTSA website for more information, and click past the jump to view the full recall notice.

Mustang, Camaro, Challenger gallop onto USPS pony car postage stamp set

Tue, Jul 19 2022

Some of America's most iconic cars are about to be immortalized on postage stamps. A new set by the U.S. Postal Service will celebrate the the golden era of pony cars, featuring five classic examples of Detroit iron. Each one is beautifully illustrated in oil-on-canvas style, with subjects in motion and sunlight glinting off the chrome, and would add a nice touch to any first-class letter. The pony car segment was all about (relatively) small, sporty alternatives to the full-size land yachts of the 1960s. They typically came equipped with 6-cylinder engines or small-block V8s. The category was named after the Ford Mustang, hence  the name. Some, though, argue that the Plymouth Barracuda, which was launched a couple of weeks before the Mustang, is the first. Luckily, the Falcon-based Mustang's distinct styling generated a sales sensation, or we might be calling them fish cars. Appropriately, one of the featured cars is a Mustang. But it's not just any Mustang. The 1969 Boss 302, seen here resplendent in Bright Yellow, was created for the hotly-contested SCCA Trans-Am racing series. One of its main rivals would have been the 1969 Chevy Camaro Z/28, also created specifically for the series, and is included in the set in Fathom Green. Representing Auburn Hills in the set is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T in Plum Crazy, while Southfield's American Motors gets a nod with an AMC Javelin in Big Bad Orange. The Mustang's platform cousin, a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7, is portrayed in a gorgeous Burgundy Poly that almost looks incomplete without Neko Case on the hood. It's not the first time the USPS has honored America's rich car culture on its stamps. In 2013, it issues a series of muscle car stamps with the help of Richard Petty. That set featured a 1966 Pontiac GTO, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1970 Chevelle SS, 1970 Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda and, of course, a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. Another set in 2016 featured classic pickup trucks. Going further back, a 2008 release had chroed and finned automobiles of the 1950s and a 2005 release featured sporty American cars of the same era. The pony car stamps will debut on August 25 at the Great American Stamp Show in Sacramento, California in partnership with the American Philatelic Society. The public is free to attend the dedication ceremony, but you must RSVP first. After that, they will be available at local post offices and on line at the USPS store.

Watch as an out-of-control car demolishes gas pump

Tue, May 2 2017

A Baltimore area man was fighting for his life Tuesday after crashing his car into a gas station. According to WBAL, the unidentified 64-year-old lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons around 4:55 a.m. May 1 in Parkville, Md. The 2007 Mercury Milan careened downhill, ramped over a curb, and smashed full-speed into a gas station pump. The car then flipped and came to rest against one of the station's canopy support pillars. Don Karbowniczek, owner of a service station across the street, told WBAL he was shocked there wasn't more damage. It's also surprising that the car even made it to the pumps, as it had to thread past a coin-op vacuum machine, the station's sign, a utility pole, and a traffic light pole. "It came right through, took some of our bushes out, just trimmed them for us, and how it got through and flip the way it did, I don't know. From what I see on the marks, it had to go airborne and just come down on the pump," Karbowniczek said. Thankfully there was no fire or explosion. Gas pumps have shear valves - safety devices that immediately cut the flow of gasoline when a pump is damaged. The driver was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, and was in critical condition. Police theorized the driver may have become stricken with a health issue when he lost control.
