I have a 1975 Mercury comet two door factory a/c car with power brakes and power steering. Its a factory yellow car with black interior kinda a cool not common color option. The car was a 6cyl but has been swapped to a all orginal 302 its a c4 auto in it and has been converterd to floor shift including the steering colum. the drive train on the car is extremly complete the motor is out of a 1974 so its set up for points right now but the car has all the orginal wiring to convert to electronic ignition. The motor does run the carb needs to be rebuilt on it and some hoses are dry rotted from sitting in the arizona sun its alos missing a freeze plug on the block but it looks to be a easy one to get to. it has a 8inch rear end in it with lug the car is sitting on older crager ss rims 15x7 in front and 15x10 in rear the tires all hold air and have great tread they are just dry from sitting. The car has some rust but not what i would consider bad they only bad spot on the floor boards is the passenger side and its not horribel very fixable the rear quater have a small amount but still nothing bad ive seen way worse over all i consider it a pretty soilded car. The interior is pretty guted it does how ever have a nice black head liner in it other than that its pretty empty. the rear has been converted to small bumper i started the front but was never able to find the front comet parts. The area around the trunk lock needs work the previous owner lost the key and it looks like all he could find to remove the lock was a hammer and punch. the car had factory a/c the blower still works and included with the car are all the componets you will need to hook the factory a/c back up, also with the car comes a extra set of tail lights in great shape a extra hood with great trim on it, a perfect comet gas cap, a v8 cross bar, and some other misc parts. This is a awsome project car. any questions feel free to ask and please only bid if you will actually pay local pick up

What do you do with a fake Bugatti Veyron for $60k?
Tue, Mar 29 2016Replica cars are a challenging labor of love because builders spend countless hours recreating a vehicle that people immediately compare to the real thing. Perhaps, the person behind this Mercury Cougar-based Bugatti Veyron should look for another way to pass that time. The coupe is currently for sale on eBay Motors for $59,900. The builder deserves some credit because the fiberglass body looks acceptable in the photos from farther away. The car might even fool a few people from a distance. However, the devil is in the details, and the closer you look, the worse this gets. The side intakes are especially rough. The red interior is atrocious. It's essentially the Cougar's cabin but in an eye-searing shade accented with lots of fake carbon fiber. The seller's eBay Motors ad really tries to market the look, though. "You slide in to [sic] this extremely comfortable leather interior and you feel like your bank account just quadrupled in size," the listing says. Don't expect to win any top speed titles in this Veyron replica, either. Rather than a mid-mounted quad-turbo W16, a 3.0-liter V6 from a Mercury Sable sits at the front. Thanks to an upgraded intake and exhaust, the seller claims, "It doesn't sound like your grandmas [sic] Sable." We wish the seller the best of luck, but the asking price of nearly $60,000 is probably too optimistic. We would still think twice about buying it even after taking a zero off that figure, but at least this thing is fun to look at. Related Video:
Report: Lincoln getting all of Mercury's ad dollars
Mon, 03 Jan 2011Now that the curtain has closed on Mercury, Ford Motor Company will redirect all of its marketing dollars for the oft-overlooked brand to the Blue Oval's luxury outpost, Lincoln. In speaking to Automotive News, the chairman of the Lincoln National Dealer Council, Bob Tasca, Jr., said, "You'll see a lot stronger presence in the advertising of Lincoln in 2011."
Lincoln spokesperson Christian Bokich reminded AN that the automaker is "preparing the way for seven new or significantly refreshed vehicles" that will be launched over the next four years, and the largest ad blitz in 2011 will focus on the refreshed MKX crossover, as well as the MKZ sedan and its hybrid counterpart. Following that, Lincoln has plans to launch a completely overhauled version of its Navigator SUV, an all-new C-segment vehicle and the overhauled 2013 MKZ, which Tasca says will be "strikingly different from its Ford Fusion sibling."

Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception
Tue, 25 Sep 2012It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.
