Wonderful Blue Capri, show car or driver, (ROAD TRIP CAR) by 2nd owner 1973 , I am selling this for the owner who does not have computer skills, When he brought the CAPRI over to my house to photograph, it is the wonderful example of a redone, modified car,
I was amazed at the car, It is so clean, you can eat off the engine.. . Probable the best kept original and modified car I have ever seen. It paint is crisp and bright, (camera does not capture the color) the white on the top, seats, rear tire package is white and not stained or tarnished. All of the chrome is 95 to 98% with only one tiny ding in mid of the front bumper. Bumperettes are excellent rubber, grill perfect, front spoiler or air damn is added and looks perfect. Rear lights have been changed because original were degraded. Everything works on the car lights, horn, etc. Full Owner's Manuals, advertising brochures, etc, Factory maintenance manual goes with car about 1.5 inches thick, cost $35.00 in 1980. Pick it up in Scranton and drive it to Florida, California etc. will go anywhere.A wonderful summer road trip use the CB to talk to the truckers and others in route, what a blast. This CAPRI looks and drives like a NEW CAR. Why have a common Mustang or Chevy when you can get this Capri, you will not see another. Wait till you read the additions that work perfect... all of these interior additions were around 1980 and have only 1500 miles on the car since their installation .1. power antenna, 2. Power windows, 3. power trunk lid, 4.interior trunk lights 5. interior trunk trim including, first aid kit, tool kit. 6. Realistic CB Radio. 7. ZT Dynamic Travel computer which tell mileage, battery voltage, outside temperature, also works a cruise control. and some other functions (has a manual) 8. New 1980 Kenwood Stereo radio, with a cassette player, with rear speakers in shelf behind rear seats and in front doors. The running gear and engine are maintained but not traveled on, since the older build up of 1500 to 2000 miles ago. Engine starts and runs fine (will probably need a tune up sometime), Has new rack and pinion steering put in 5 years ago with 200 miles on it. Tires are up, lots of tred, good pressure, no sign of dry rot probably installed 1990. THIS CAR IS KEPT in the owners garage and is climate controlled (heated in winter and in the mountains of PA, no humidity) The owner is very detail orientated. Garage is perfect. like the car. Car has been in numerous auto shows and has won awards in modified class (ACCA) (award goes with the car) , This car is a head turner wherever it goes, It is almost perfect and get great mileage as well. RETURN THE CAPRI to original. The Continental Kit, would come right off, and the bumper bolts back on. The console in the inside can be removed but you would loose some goodies. The trunks has been redone in carpeting with a first aid box, that would have to go back to cheap original stuff.Owner may or may not have the original tail lights way in the attic but he can't be sure, he remembers them as not in the best of shape, whatever is there in the attic, you get. The electric windows would probably have to stay. IT IS sure to bring a value to people for years to come. a great investment Call the owner at (Fred) at 570 842 8847 he will give you more info. Translogic drives wood-burning Mercury Beaver XR-7
Sun, 31 Jul 2011You read the title right, we're talking about the Mercury Beaver XR-7. No, Mercury never officially built a car called the beaver. This is the brainchild of upstate New Yorker Chip Beam, who owns and operates Beaver Energy, LLC. It runs on gases created by wood pellets fermented in a 2,400-degree furnace and fed to a supercharged Ford 4.6-liter V8.
By all accounts, it gets down the road just fine, and has pretty close to full power. The best part is, you can grow the fuel yourself and avoid patronizing big oil, if that's your thing. The only drawback that we can see to the Mercury Beaver XR-7 is the PVC pipe jungle occupying the space that would be the trunk under normal circumstances.

Wed, Feb 8 2023POMONA, Calif. — From an outsider's perspective, it would be easy to assume that the Grand National Roadster Show has always been a Southern California institution. After all, it celebrates the diverse postwar car culture of the region — hot rods, lead sleds, lowriders, and more. However, the show had its roots in NorCal in 1950 when Al Slonaker and his hot rod club showed their custom cars at the Oakland Expo. The GNRS moved to Pomona, California, in 2004. By then it had grown exponentially and seen about a dozen more car customization trends come and go. However, the show and its centerpiece award, the America's Most Beautiful Roadster prize, celebrate what is perhaps the first of those trends: the American hot rod in its purest form. Today, in its 73rd year, the GNRS is the oldest indoor car show in America. Annually it welcomes 500-800 cars, gathered into special themes like Tri-Five Chevys or Volkswagen Bugs. At this year's show, which was last weekend, a special hall was dedicated to pickup trucks built between 1948-98, including mini-trucks, groovy camper bed conversions, and resto-mods. However, of all the vehicles presented, only nine are eligible for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award. Winners get their names engraved on a 9-foot-tall perpetual trophy that was, according to The Ultimate Hot Rod Dictionary, the largest in the world when it debuted in 1950. Slonaker chose the word "roadster" initially because "hot rod" bore slightly negative outlaw connotations in 1950. Only American cars built before 1937 of certain body styles — roadsters, roadster pickups, phaetons, touring cars — are eligible, and they cannot have roll-down side windows. Cars in the running for the cup cannot have been shown anywhere else before their debut at the GNRS. Contestants for this accolade essentially build their cars to the a platonic ideal of a hot rod. This year the honors went to Jack Chisenhall of San Antonio, Texas, for his "Champ Deuce," a 1932 Ford Roadster. It's exactly what you picture when you think of a hot rod, but distilled to its absolute essence. Other standouts included "Green Eyes," a two-tone green 1959 Chevy El Camino with a heavily metal-flaked bed, "Blue Monday," a 1964 Buick Riviera lowrider, and a personal favorite, "Purple Reign," a purple and black 1951 Mercury. Cars may have started out as tools, but there aren't shows like this filled with custom refrigerators.
Junkyard Gem: 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis LS
Thu, Nov 24 2022We've all been seeing the instantly familiar Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor on North American roads for what seems like forever, though in fact the very first of the aerodynamic Crown Vics didn't appear until a mere 31 years ago. Yes, after more than a decade of boxy LTD Crown Victorias, Dearborn took the late-1970s-vintage Panther platform and added a brand-new, Taurus-influenced smooth body and modern overhead-cam V8 engine, giving us the 1992 Ford Crown Victoria. The rule was, since 1939, that (nearly) every Ford model needed a corresponding Mercury, and so the Mercury Division applied different grille and taillights and the rejuvenated Grand Marquis was born. Here's one of the first of those cars to be built, now residing in a Denver-area self-service boneyard. The Marquis name goes respectably far back, to the late 1960s and a Mercurized version of the Ford LTD hardtop. The Grand Marquis began life as the name for an interior trim package on the 1974 Marquis Brougham (also LTD-based), eventually becoming a model in its own right for the 1979 model year. Today's Junkyard Gem came off the Ontario assembly line in March 1991, making one of the very first examples built. For 1992 (and through 2011), the Grand Marquis was a Crown Victoria with slightly enhanced bragging rights. This one has the top-grade LS trim, with an MSRP of $20,644 (that's about $44,370 in inflation-adjusted 2022 dollars). The corresponding Ford-badged model (built on the same assembly line by the same workers) would have been the Crown Victoria LX, which actually cost a bit more: $20,987 ($44,910 now). The very cheapest civilian 1992 Crown Vic cost just $19,563 ($42,045 today). There weren't any powertrain differences between the Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis in 1992. The only engine available was this Modular 4.6 SOHC V8, rated at either 190 (single exhaust) or 210 (dual exhaust) horsepower. The transmission was a four-speed automatic with overdrive. How many miles are on this one? Can't say! Based on the worn-out interior, I'm going to guess 221,719 miles passed beneath this car's wheels during its 32-plus years on the road. I've seen some very high-mile Police Interceptors, of course, including one with 412,013 miles, but Ford didn't go to six-digit odometers in the Grand Marquis until a bit deeper into the 1990s. Thanks to flawed speech-to-text applications on smartphones, the Grand Marquis is known as the "Grandma Keith" to many of us today.
