I have owned this car for about 2 years. I am an ASE mechanic. About 5 thousand miles ago I put rings, rod, and main bearings in the motor. I also replaced 5 valves I did not like and ground the valves. I drove it the 5 thousand miles as a toy than had it painted. I got it back about a year ago and it has sat in the garage since then. My wife doesn't like to ride with the top down which is why I bought it. The hard top goes with the car as does the storage cart and cover. I replaced the convertible top when I bought it and it is in like new condition as it spent most of it's life in the garage. I also replaced the carpeting with molded carpeting of original color. Everything works including the pop up headlights. I replaced the brakes and struts when I first bought the car. This is a nice cruise around town car. I replaced the battery about 2 months ago. I have a Mercury factory repair manual that also goes with the car. I would expect to be paid within 7 days of purchase and cash preferable. Curtain officially comes down on Mercury as dealers remove signage
Mon, 03 Jan 2011The process of shutting down the Mercury is complete. Ford officially made the decision to close its mid-level brand in June of 2010. In the months that followed, Ford offered its dealers money to stop selling the cars, with production shutting down in September. The last Mercury, a Mariner, rolled off the assembly line in the beginning of October and former spokesperson Jill Wagner said her good-byes to both the car and her job. Now the last piece of the brand has come down as dealers are removing any and all Mercury signage from their lots.

Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues
Wed, 28 Dec 2011'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.

But don't try to make that argument around Cougar super-fan Mike Brown. Since starting his Cougar collecting in 1988, Brown has become an absolute expert on the model, and he claims to have owned 400 of the Mercury pony cars in that time.
