off the block... looks rebuilt to me and runs excellent with nice power. Turbo 350 3 speed automatic with shift kit and long handle Hurst shifter... 12 bolt rear. Has a front clip with power steering and brakes. This classic rod is in great driver condition all around. Nice restoration including Body, Interior, Motor, Trans, and
Suspension...
looks, runs, drives great. Cool
vintage hot rod
would be
awesome weekend cruiser, daily driver, potential show car, or addition to any
collection... The body is straight with some minor bumps and blemishes... no signs of collision damage or significant rust that I can see... has just a bit of very minor surface rust underneath... no holes or rot. Undercarriage and frame looks super clean and solid. Red paint presents very well with some imperfections and blemishes... worst is on the tip of the hood where the chrome trim was removed but I have the trim and would just put it back on. Car has a very cool stance and period correct hot rod look and maintains a really comfortable ride. Get's looks and compliments everywhere we roll... a little love and this is an easy weekend show car. The interior is nicely done with red diamond tuck. Someone put those racing style seats in... WHY???, I have a really nice set of red and black leather seats (see pics) I'm going to have those installed next week and a set of covers made to match the diamond pattern. Newer Carpet is decent...redone door panels. Dash redone with really nice SW gauges. Nice hidden modern sound system sounds great. Old school heater/blower works!!!. V8 motor appears stock except for Aluminum manifold, holley carb, headers and custom dual exhaust... sounds cool. Starts idles and runs fantastic... Great power!. Ford announces free brake pad offer if customers stop by dealers
Mon, 04 Aug 2014These days, when you buy a new car, it's not unreasonable to expect a certain period of free maintenance to come along as well. Sometimes this is through the life of the warranty, in other cases a little less. But Ford Motor Company is going beyond those deals for at least one part of its cars. As of now, if you buy a set of Motorcraft brake pads for a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury model, you get free replacements for as long as you own the vehicle. The offer is good at Ford or Lincoln dealers and Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers.
"We will replace the pads for as long as you own the vehicle," said Elizabeth Weigandt to Autoblog. She did clarify that the Motorcraft pads are generally for models from the '90s or newer. Also, to take advantage of this program, a person must return to the same dealer each time to get the free parts.
Of course, Ford isn't just handing out brake pads to anyone who walks by; there are certain stipulations. First, the components have to be worn down to less than three millimeters to be eligible, and the buyer still has to pay for the labor to install them. If the model is used as a fleet vehicle for commercial purposes like as a taxi or limousine, this offer also doesn't apply; the same thing for racecars. On the plus side, if you recently bought a set of pads from one of the participating locations, you're still in luck. The deal covers parts purchased as of July 1.
Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes
Thu, 10 May 2012When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
Question of the Day: Most degraded car name?
Fri, May 27 2016When Ford came up with a not-so-sporty version of the Pinto and slapped Mustang badges on it in 1974, that was a low point for the Mustang name. When Chrysler applied the venerable Town & Country name on perfectly functional but unglamorous minivans, it saddened many of us. But perhaps the biggest demotion for a once-proud model came when, in 1988, General Motors imported a misery-enhancing Daewoo from Korea and called it the Pontiac LeMans. The original Pontiac LeMans was a great-looking midsize car with fairly advanced (for the time) suspension design and engine options including potent V8s and a screaming overhead-cam straight-six. The Daewoo-based Pontiac LeMans was a cramped, shoddy hooptie that served only to ruin the LeMans name forever, while stealing sales from the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Sprint. Sure, using the once-respected Monterey name on the Mercurized Ford Freestar was bad, but Mercury didn't have long to live at that point. I say the downward spiral of the LeMans name was the most agonizing in automotive history. What do you think? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
