This model built only in 2003-2004. Production of 11,000, approximately. For detailed data see  Edmunds site online:

Vehicle purchased new in Nevada. I am the third owner. Acquired the vehicle for business use at approximately 108,000 miles in 2010. Driven primarily on trips of 200 to 300 miles on highways and freeways in Northern CA. Never in snow. All original equipment except recent radio/CD upgrade. Wheels are factory.  Exhaust (true duals) is factory.  Air suspension in rear is factory.

All maintenance services performed at Elm Ford/Mercury in Woodland CA during past four years. Oil changes at 5,000 miles. Coolant and transmission and brake fluid changes done periodically. No mechanical issues. California emissions check performed in late August.  No issues.. Registration is current. Title is clear, no lien. Spark plugs replaced at 194K. New radio last year, has mike and bluetooth for phone, and auxiliary input for podcast/music. A/C works fine. A cold air intake kit comes with vehicle from former owner (has not been installed during my ownership) , Sunroof option. The Marauder has a 4.6 liter V-8, with dual overhead cams, 4 valve heads, rated at 302 HP. (Std Ford/Mercury/Lincoln 4.6 V-8 has single overhead cam layout rated at 220/240 HP.

No accidents or body work. Original paint. Minor dings, scratches and scuffs from parking lot encounters. Leather interior is in fine shape. Nonsmoking vehicle. Very clean interior.  All factory owner manuals included.  Keyless entry.

The Marauder runs on premium fuel, per factory. altho midgrade works okay. Mileage averages a consistent 22 with the driving I do. That's not what the published data indicates, but it's real, and reflects conservative driving. If you want to merge quickly on a freeway, the experience is rewarding. Factory dual exhaust and the tuning kicks in around 3000 rpm for a kick in the seat of the pants. The wheels are stock. Tires have about 50% life remaining.

$500 deposit via Paypal required within 24 hours of end of auction.  Must pickup or have shipper remove vehicle within 10 days of close of auction.  Shipping arrangements are the responsibility of the purchaser.  Payment in full by cashiers check or cash within 7 days of close of auction. Has the Mercury Marauder gotten better with age?

Fri, Oct 23 2015

In the early 2000s Mercury desperately wanted to develop some edge for its brand – seemingly stuck between a quasi-premium, quasi-performance space in the Ford Universe. The Marauder is perhaps the most famous of the vehicles that resulted from those efforts, and is rapidly approaching Modern Classic status, today. Effectively a murdered out Grand Marquis with some updated trim pieces – what are company parts bins for, if not raiding? – the Marauder looked convincingly like a bad guy car. The 4.6-liter V8 under its hood that had been breathed on by engineers for a little more power, kicking out 302 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque from the factory. Not exactly Ferrari-baiting numbers, but it'd give your local cop's car a run for its money. Being a wild child of the last decade, of course our friends at MotorWeek had it on the program. What better way to test your mean-mugging muscle sedan than with John Davis' tanned and steady hands?

Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement. Scroll down to read the recall announcement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or download the full defect notice as a PDF, here.

Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line

Wed, 05 Jan 2011

The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.
