1995 Mercury Sable Gs Sedan 4-door 3.0l Damaged In Flood on 2040-cars
Longmont, Colorado, United States
Hello! Please review pictures of the vehicle that I took during and after the flood. Before the flood, the car was running great, with no mechanical issues. It had a tune up, overhaul of the transmission, and a replaced radiator several years back. It needed a paint job - especially in the back (trunk, top), had a lot of tears on the interior ceiling, and a few broken interior trimmings, but all else was in good shape (please see photos of how clean and in good shape the dash board, door interiors, etc. are). On 9/12 we were evacuated from our home because of flooding. The photos of the vehicle in the flood water show the maximum height that the waters reached. It was flooded this way for six days. Upon return home to inspect the car, the battery was completely dead, and I heard that you should not try to start a vehicle that was in a flood, anyway, until it can be serviced (I have not taken it in for servicing). I have left all doors (including trunk) open for multiple days, trying to dry everything out, but there is a strong moldy / mildew smell inside the cab and trunk, and visible metal areas of the interior (under seats, etc) are showing rust. Exterior body is in great shape. No rust showing on exterior except for a small bit on the rear passenger fender (see photos). Windshield has multiple cracks. All other glass, lights, etc. is intact. Tires are in good shape with low miles. Serpentine belt is like-new. Car had regular oil changes / servicing. Two of the four hubcaps are complete, one is partial, one is missing. This is a great car to either restore or part out, but I do not have the time (or funds) to do either, so I am hoping someone else would be interested. Being sold as is, with no warranties, etc. Please ask any questions before you bid. Thanks for looking! |

Ford recalls 1.9m cars and crossovers for defective airbags
Wed, Jun 1 2016The Basics: Ford is recalling a total of 1,898,728 vehicles to replace defective Takata front passenger-side airbags. This includes the 2007-2010 Ford Edge, 2006-2011 Ford Fusion, 2005-2011 Ford Mustang, 2007-2011 Ford Ranger, 2007-2010 Lincoln MKX and 2006-2011 Lincoln MKZ, Zephyr and Mercury Milan vehicles built in North America. The Problem: The defective airbags have been linked to ruptures that can send metal fragments at the passenger, due to deteriorating propellant. Injuries/Deaths: Ford claims it's not aware of any injuries due to the problem, but rupturing Takata airbags have been linked to a series of serious injuries and deaths. The Fix: Dealers will replace the passenger-side frontal airbag at no charge to the customer. If you own one: Look out for a letter from the manufacturer to arrange service at your local dealer. If you'd like to check if your vehicle is affected, click on the safety recalls link on Ford.com and enter your VIN. Related Video:
Ford finally issues recall for 230K minivans over rust problems
Sun, 10 Mar 2013The rust issue in the rear wheel wells of 2004-2007 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans has finally led to a recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began an investigation into the matter in 2011, said investigation being upgraded to an engineering analysis a year later while NHTSA tried to figure out how many model years should be included in the assessment.
Ford has decided to recall all of the 230,000 minivans potentially affected, namely those sold in salt-belt states and countries like Canada. The excess rust in the rear wheel wells was also able to prevent the third-row seats from locking to the floor of the minivan. To repair the problem, owners can take their minivans to dealers, and the dealers will place new panels in the wheel wells, replace the third-row seat mounting brackets and relocate the latches to an area away from any corrosion.
Ford says it will begin notifying owners during the last week of March.
Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue
Fri, 12 Sep 2014Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement.
