Simi Valley, California, United States
Vehicle Title:Clear
Make: Mercury
Drive Type: Automatic
Model: Monterey
Mileage: 109,000
Trim: Convertable
1966 Mercury Convertable in Daily Driver condition . Original Color I believe it is called Bronze with a Palimino interior . Originally a 390 2 barrel with a Cruise-a-matic transmission . Original California Black Plates and some receipts dating back to 1970 when it was sold used at a Lincoln/Mercury dealer. One repaint way back and not a very high quality one . NO RUST threw floors or trunk that I can see and the car was NEVER heavily undercoated . The is a small rusted area I saw in front of the right rear wheel from dirt trapped behind the rocker moulding . The previous long time owner decided to remove the motor to install a camshaft and that was how I bought the car . I purchased a second 1966 Parklane with a rebuilt 410 engine and C-6 trans . I installed that Engine only into this car . I could make available the C-6 trans.
Factory A/C car (not working but complete) , Power windows(they all go up and down) , Power steering and Power Brakes . The Top goes up and down with no issues and the boot is OK . The interior is not all torn up . The car has not been molested and would be an easy one to take to the next level.

Kit Cat: Mercury Cougar makes perfect Bugatti Veyron substitute
Thu, 24 Feb 2011Bugatti Veyron kit car - Click above for high-res image gallery
If you've got a pulse in your wrist and a snapping brain cell in your head, chances are you wouldn't mind parking a Bugatti Veyron in your garage. But for most mere mortals, scrounging up the cash for a physics-bending piece of 16-cylinder glory would require all sorts of unpalatable tasks. Fortunately for those who want to look the part without having to participate in human trafficking, the kit car universe has stepped in to save the day. All you need is a 1999-2002 Mercury Cougar, a boat load of fiberglass and a little patience.
Oh, and $89,000.
NHTSA will investigate some Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ models for power steering issue
Tue, 07 Oct 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation into the 2010-2012 Ford Fusion, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ, the 2012 MKZ Hybrid and 2011 Mercury Milan because the agency has hundreds of complaints of electric power steering failure in these models.
According to NHTSA's data, it has received 508 complaints of the power steering allegedly suddenly malfunctioning and resulting in increased effort to turn the wheel. In four incidents, these failures resulted in loss of control and crashes. According to the reports, in some cases a power steering warning message came on as the fault occurred, and other times the system restored itself by turning off and then restarting the vehicle. NHTSA said it has also received further field report data from Ford, but that information hasn't been publicly released yet.
For the moment, there isn't a recall for this failure on these models. NHTSA is just investigating them to "assess the scope, frequency and safety consequences of the alleged defect," and the agency says an estimated 938,000 vehicles could potentially be affected.
Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line
Wed, 05 Jan 2011The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.
