Welcome to a great opportunity. Every once is a while we get that "Little Old Lady, or Little Old Man owned, 1-owner, super low mileage Florida-kept creampuff" and we LOVE passing it along to our wonderful eBay clientele. And this is just such that occasion. You are viewing a very nice, extremely low mileage, Florida-kept and driven 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis Premium Luxury Touring Sedan. When we saw this car, in this condition, we knew we had to have it! You simply do not see them around this nice, with this mileage, very often, if at all.

This Grand Marquis GS is extra-clean and priced thousands below what your local Ford-Lincoln-Mercury dealership would want for the same vehicle, assuming they could find one! Certainly an attractive color combination for this executive sedan. It has a wonderful Brilliant Silver Clearcoat Metallic exterior over a designer two-tone Navy Blue and Ivory leather interior, and Navy Blue Landau top. Combined with dealer-installed Chrome wheel trim rings, chrome and color-keyed bodyside molding, chrome wheel covers and thin Navy Blue pinstripe, and Gold Emblem Package, the appearance of this Grand Marquis GS is second-to-none. With a careful, mature previous owner, original Sunny South Florida miles, this beauty certainly stand outs. With only 19,900 original miles, this Mercury runs and drives perfectly.

This Designer Edition Luxury Sedan is impressive. It was certainly the model sitting on the showroom floor, fully clad in this wonderful color and trim package. And I am sure at a substantial premium. But someone else's generosity is your good fortune. Don't wait too long, we simply do not see these cars in this condition, upkeep and mileage all too often. This was certainly someone's pride and joy. Most of our cars end with a simple click of the Buy-It-Now, or a call to our sales associate. Don't make the mistake of missing out on this rare find! This Grand Marquis is an absolute pleasure to drive. Completely loaded with full power options, this sedan has a 220-horsepower 4.6 liter V8 mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission with Overdrive. In addition to seating capacity for up to six adult passengers, this Grand Marquis comes nicely equipped with driver's side power seat, air conditioning, cruise control, power controls, an adjustable steering wheel, a remote trunk release, AM/FM/CD audio system, rear window defogger/defroster, intermittent wipers and heated exterior mirrors. Safety equipment includes driver and passenger-side airbags, ABS, Traction Control, factory security system and keyless remote entry, either by remote, or door keypad.

The designer Navy and Ivory leather interior is in outstanding condition. As close to new as you could possibly ever ask for. It is roomy and impressive interior cabin for the Grand Marquis, with the light interior accented distinctively by the rich, wood trim and embroidered stitching on the front seats. And the beautiful high-gloss Brilliant Silver exterior finish is in excellent condition and is ding and dent free. The previous owner lived in Fort Myers and this car probably didn't see much Interstate travel at all. There are no rock or pebble nicks on the front of this car, and the finish is beautiful. Remember folks, only 19,000 original, documented miles). It was a garaged vehicle--and it shows. This Mercury Grand Marquis is in the type of condition that you never see at all! The pictures we have taken of the car are how we received the car. No professional detailing, no cleaning of the engine compartment, no high speed buffing and then spray wax to make it shine. No smoke and mirrors here.  This is how it came in, and this is how you see it. You can eat off the engine and motor compartment, and you can eat off the undercarriage of this car. The finish is beautiful, and the interior looks as if it has hardly been sat in. The front bumper has a minor scuff on the right side that cam most likely be buffed out, and there is a minor scratch on the rear bumper. Extremely minor, just wanted to make you aware. Same of the chrome bumper trim (which really isn't chrome) its actually chromed plastic. It has some oxidation, obviously due to the age of the vehicle. Again, not a big deal, just want to make you aware.

We would like to point out that the car will get professionally detailed by us for the successful new buyer, making it look near showroom.  This car has been driven to the tune of about 1,500 miles per year. Just enough to go back and forth to the neighborhood clubhouse of the Country Club and to the local grocery store. A very well maintained vehicle, they serviced their car exclusively at SEARS in addition to the Lincoln/Mercury dealership. The fluids have been completely changed, as well as the windshield wipers, and it has a complete set of nearly-new Michelin Symmetry all-seasons radials all the way around. They are like new with approximately 500 miles on them. And these Michelin's are simply the best! No expense was spared in the upkeep of this car. The maintenance has been great, and this is one of those cars that you can't believe is available.

Loaded and it runs and drives superbly. No rattles, shakes, squeaks, bumps or bruises. Everything works perfectly and properly, and all it needs now is a new home. You should be starting to get the picture here folks. Outstanding appearance and regular maintenance of this luxury sedan. Who will be the lucky, and I do mean very lucky, new owner.

Very clean interior and the wood accents really define this ultra-luxurious interior. This is a great car! With a 220 hp V8 this luxury sedan really moves!  And, if you live in the North East, don't worry about it. This Grand Marquis GS is equipped for any driving condition. With Traction Control and heated mirrors, winter driving is a breeze!

eBay Find of the Day: Craterface's '49 Mercury convertible from Grease

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

Here is your chance to own your very own piece of greased lightning. Well, not the Greased Lighting, it's actually the black, flamed 1949 Mercury convertible that races against John Travolta in the classic 1978 movie Grease, and it's for auction on eBay Motors.
While it appeared in the film's exciting drag race in a Los Angeles storm drain, the hot rod was reportedly lost until last year, when the seller found it as a shell. He verified that it was the actual car with original builder, Eddie Paul, and sent the car for a complete restoration.
The auction includes original parts like the exhaust tips used in the movie and bent bumper from when it hit Travolta's car in the scene. The restorer recreated the scorpion stickers on the doors, razor hubcaps and license plate. He also installed a 1949 Mercury 255-cubic-inch (4.2-liter), flathead V8 and three-speed manual transmission with overdrive.

NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.

Junkyard Gem: 1973 Mercury Marquis Brougham 4-Door Pillared Hardtop

Tue, Nov 7 2023

Ford's Mercury Division debuted the Marquis in the 1967 model year, as a sporty coupe based on a stretched Ford LTD chassis. When the LTD got an update for 1969, so did the Marquis, and production of that generation of the top-of-the-line Mercury continued through 1978 (the Grand Marquis hit streets the following year). The 1969-1978 Marquis was a big, imposing land yacht, and the Brougham version came absolutely loaded with affordable luxury. Today's Junkyard Gem is a Marquis Brougham from the first year of the Malaise Era, found in a Phoenix self-service car graveyard recently. This car appears to have spent decades sitting outdoors in one of the harshest climates in the country, and so it's in rough shape. The vinyl top received the full thermonuclear treatment and is mostly obliterated by now. The interior got thoroughly cooked as well. Still, its original opulence shines through if you use some imagination. What hurts is that this car was packed with most of the good options, including the mighty 460-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 engine with four-barrel carburetor. The price for the 460 was just $76 in this car, or around $548 in today's money. The base engine was a 429 (7.0-liter). Power numbers were way down for 1973 when compared to a couple of years earlier, partly as the result of tightening emissions standards but mostly due to the switch from gross to net power ratings that began midway during 1971 and was completed by the end of 1972. This engine was rated at 202 horsepower and 330 pound-feet. The only transmission available was a three-speed automatic. We can assume that the original buyer of this car and its single-digit fuel economy had a rough time when the OPEC oil embargo hit in the fall of 1973. Believe it or not, air conditioning was not standard equipment on the '73 Marquis Brougham (you had to move up to a Lincoln for that). This one even has the automatic temperature control feature, adding a total of $508 to the cost of this car (about $3,661 in 2023 dollars). That AM/FM/8-track radio—or, in fact, any radio—was an extra-cost option as well, with a price tag of $363 ($2,616 after inflation). The MSRP for the 1973 Marquis Brougham sedan (known as a "pillared hardtop" thanks to the frameless window glass) was $5,072, which comes to $36,555 in today's dollars. Obviously, its out-the-door cost would have been much higher with all the options.
