This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION for a 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis GS. No Reserve means this vehicle will sell to the highest bidder, no matter what the bid is at. This can easily be your next vehicle. The Grand Marquis is a nice full size sedan that has plenty of room for everyone and even more room for cargo. This is an upgraded version of the Ford Crown Victoria. The police and taxi services use these vehicles not only for safety, but for their room and they can make them last 400k miles without spending a fortune to maintain/repair it. Since this was a Pennsylvania and Maryland vehicle, the vehicle has been inspected and passed numerous times.

The interior is over all in good shape. The light colored upholstery is still in great shape with no stains and there aren't any rips in the seats. The carpet even looks good. The headliner is not sagging like other common cars. The radio works great. The power button does not hold down when pressed, but you can just keep the volume down when you want it off. The heat is nice and warm and the a/c is cold. The rear view mirror on the windshield is in the glove box, it will need to be glued back on. I didn't notice any offensive odors.

The exterior is actually in good shape too. There is no major damage anywhere and the clear coat is still smooth. This car shows that it was maintained well through its time. The tires have tread on them and have plenty of time left. There are a few small dings on the passenger side but there is no paint missing. There is one small rust spot on the rear passenger side wheel well, its not rotted, just cosmetic. This should not fail a state inspection. As you can see in the pictures, the passenger side mirror has tape around it. The mirror is actually firm and I do not know what the tape is holding, basically I made sure the mirror is not going to fly off going down the road.

The motor starts up and idles with no smoking or knocking issues. I did not smell any odors coming from the engine bay either. The Mercury goes into gear and shifts as it should. The acceleration feels just like a 4.6L V8 should. The brakes stop the vehicle with no grinding or problems. The cruiser makes a nice ride out of a bumpy road. The powered steering is in working order also. The vehicle feels reliable and I would take it on long trips. Everything else was maintained well, the motor feels like it too. This Grand Marquis is the same thing as a Crown Victoria with powered options, cruise control, and some other upgrades. The car does not handle or feel like a boat, its just a full size sedan.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions, or if you would like to make an offer. Thank you for looking and good luck! -Daryl

Kit Cat: Mercury Cougar makes perfect Bugatti Veyron substitute

Thu, 24 Feb 2011

Bugatti Veyron kit car - Click above for high-res image gallery
If you've got a pulse in your wrist and a snapping brain cell in your head, chances are you wouldn't mind parking a Bugatti Veyron in your garage. But for most mere mortals, scrounging up the cash for a physics-bending piece of 16-cylinder glory would require all sorts of unpalatable tasks. Fortunately for those who want to look the part without having to participate in human trafficking, the kit car universe has stepped in to save the day. All you need is a 1999-2002 Mercury Cougar, a boat load of fiberglass and a little patience.
Oh, and $89,000.

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

Thu, 10 May 2012

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.

Ringbrothers shows off Coyote-powered 1968 Mercury Cougar

Thu, Feb 25 2021

We'll openly admit that not every SEMA build is our cup of tea. But this? A tastefully resto-modded 1968 Mercury Cougar with a 460-horsepower Ford Mustang V8? Yeah, this is right in our wheelhouse. Sadly, there was no in-pwerson SEMA show in 2020, so we missed out on gems like this one. SEMA or no SEMA, the aftermarket carries on, and co-owners Jim and Mike Ring of Ringbrothers (get it?) saw no reason to let their time and effort go to waste.  When they're not building wild customs (see: 1,100-horsepower 1972 AMC Javelin AMX) or more subtle showcases (such as this Cougar or their 1971 K5 Chevy Blazer build from 2018), the folks at Ringbrothers crank out factory reproduction parts, whether for old-fashioned restoration or modification purposes. While '60s muscle cars are recurring build subjects for the two, the Cougar was the first of its kind they tackled.  Keeping it in the family, Ringbrothers sourced a Ford 5.0-liter "Coyote" V8 and a 10-Speed Automatic (lifted from an F-150 Raptor, incidentally) for the build. They didn't stop with the driveline, of course. The suspension was overhauled with a little help from DSE and a set of HRE Series C1 C103 Forged 3-Piece wheels were thrown over upgraded brakes.  "We put our heart into each car we build, and this Cougar is no exception," Jim said. "The finished product is mild and classy, yet any enthusiast instantly knows it's not stock. I imagine this is what Mercury designers would have come up with if they were building the Cougar today." "While we couldn't bring the car to the SEMA Show, we hope it can be shown to the public soon," Mike said. "We had never done a Cougar before, so this was a fun build. I love working with new shapes and coming up with new ideas." There's plenty to appreciate about this Cougar apart from the mechanicals, too. The finish is Augusta Green Metallic (courtesy of BASF), which was a factory color in 1968. You may know it by another name: Highland Green. There are a few custom exterior touches, but they're quite subtle and styled to be period-correct. The interior was also restored and updated, and it's where you'll find the only thing we're not fond of: that big, fat truck shifter. Gearbox choices notwithstanding, it's a bit of an eyesore. But considering how gorgeous the rest is, we'll give it a pass.  Related Video:
