The car is complete and unmolested. It was Ziebarted and undercoated when new, I reundercoated it a few years back. The body is mostly rust free , only has surface rust from paint that has chipped off from sitting outside for some time, so it will need repainted. It has some minor rust in the rear part of the passenger side wheel well. It also has rust on the inner part of the front wheel wells above the shock towers next to the engine.  The floor boards, trunk floors and body are solid and rust free except what is noted above. It has been garaged for the last several years since I have owned it. I am the 3rd owner of this fine automobile which I have had for several years and was planning on restoring it myself.   It's a truly a nice automobile and I am having a hard time letting it go. I have too many projects, and too little space, so this one has got to go.

The car is loaded with most every option that was available when it was special ordered through the dealer. The options include: Power Brakes,  Factory styled wheels, (the tires are in decent shape) Power Steering, Tilt Steering and Cruise Control.

Power Windows and Locks, (passenger side power lock not working). Driver's Side Power Seat,   4 Speaker Sound System with after market cassette player. Rear Window Defrost, Climate Control System with AC, (AC needs recharged). Rear Power Antenna, Duel Sports Mirrors adjustable from inside the car. Ride Engineered System with Rear Sway Bar, and halogen headlights. Everything works except things listed above. The interior is in perfect condition except for driver's seat that has cracks in it. I believe the seats are possibly leather. The carpet is original and in great condition as well.

Overall, The car is in great shape for it's age. I drove the car about 20 miles to where it is now about 8 months ago and it ran great, but has been sitting in the garage since then until I started it recently. The car starts right up and the engine runs good but seems to have some issues with the carburetor (I believe) as it pulls back when accelerating. When it's in drive and I try moving it, it stalls,  but starts right back up. I ask a mechanic and he said it sounds like a carb. issue   The brakes are in good shape. I just replaced both rear wheel cylinders as one started leaking  It does have a new starter as well. The exhaust system has some leaks due to age. The body has some minor damage to the driver's side rear corner, but has a new cap. (see pic) The windshield has a straight crack directly in the middle from top to bottom, but no runners off of that. The passenger side door molding is missing, but I have it.  I also have some extra parts from a parts car that will be going with it as well.

This is a Great Restoration Project Car in Prime Condition.
Car will start and drive out of garage, and will need cabled onto the trailer do to the issues stated above.

This car is for sell locally and may be removed early from Ebay.

Once reserve is met, you have entered into a binding contract to purchase it so it will then no longer be for sale locally.

I have described the car to the best of my knowledge. The car is sold as is.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

Mustang, Camaro, Challenger gallop onto USPS pony car postage stamp set

Tue, Jul 19 2022

Some of America's most iconic cars are about to be immortalized on postage stamps. A new set by the U.S. Postal Service will celebrate the the golden era of pony cars, featuring five classic examples of Detroit iron. Each one is beautifully illustrated in oil-on-canvas style, with subjects in motion and sunlight glinting off the chrome, and would add a nice touch to any first-class letter. The pony car segment was all about (relatively) small, sporty alternatives to the full-size land yachts of the 1960s. They typically came equipped with 6-cylinder engines or small-block V8s. The category was named after the Ford Mustang, hence  the name. Some, though, argue that the Plymouth Barracuda, which was launched a couple of weeks before the Mustang, is the first. Luckily, the Falcon-based Mustang's distinct styling generated a sales sensation, or we might be calling them fish cars. Appropriately, one of the featured cars is a Mustang. But it's not just any Mustang. The 1969 Boss 302, seen here resplendent in Bright Yellow, was created for the hotly-contested SCCA Trans-Am racing series. One of its main rivals would have been the 1969 Chevy Camaro Z/28, also created specifically for the series, and is included in the set in Fathom Green. Representing Auburn Hills in the set is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T in Plum Crazy, while Southfield's American Motors gets a nod with an AMC Javelin in Big Bad Orange. The Mustang's platform cousin, a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7, is portrayed in a gorgeous Burgundy Poly that almost looks incomplete without Neko Case on the hood. It's not the first time the USPS has honored America's rich car culture on its stamps. In 2013, it issues a series of muscle car stamps with the help of Richard Petty. That set featured a 1966 Pontiac GTO, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1970 Chevelle SS, 1970 Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda and, of course, a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. Another set in 2016 featured classic pickup trucks. Going further back, a 2008 release had chroed and finned automobiles of the 1950s and a 2005 release featured sporty American cars of the same era. The pony car stamps will debut on August 25 at the Great American Stamp Show in Sacramento, California in partnership with the American Philatelic Society. The public is free to attend the dedication ceremony, but you must RSVP first. After that, they will be available at local post offices and on line at the USPS store.

Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception

Tue, 25 Sep 2012

It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.

eBay Find of the Day: Mercury Marauder two-door convertible

Wed, 31 Aug 2011

Never underestimate what you'll see on eBay Motors. Take this unique creation, for example. Near as we can tell, it's the same 2002 Mercury Marauder that was modified into a two-door convertible by Ford for the 2002 Chicago Auto Show. According to the seller, this car still boasts its Eaton supercharger bolted to a 4.6-liter V8 engine, and at the time of its debut, the engine was rated at a lofty 335 horsepower. We have a hard time believing that the extra ponies would do much to offset the weight of the additional frame stiffeners and top mechanism on the car, however.
The vehicle is currently offered for sale by a dealer in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, though the listing is mum on how the convertible managed to make its way from Ford's Windy City show stand into the seller's inventory. If you like what you see, the machine can be yours for the princely sum of $75,000 or best offer. Head over to eBay Motors to take a gander at the listing.
