1970 Mercury Cougar------rare Xr 7------351 Cleveland------sharp Looking Driver- on 2040-cars
Tacoma, Washington, United States
Up for Auction is a Rare 1970 Mercury Cougar XR 7.This rare Collector Vehicle is a sharp looking Driver that gets Looks everywhere it goes. This Cougar looks really stunning on all the Pictures that where taken and looks almost like a Show car.It is very IMPORTANT to me to let you know that is indeed a good looking Cougar you could probably drive to the car Shows, but i have to stress that this Car is not a top notch 30.000 dollar Show car. That is why i have decided to give it a try and auction this good looking Car of to the Highest Bidder with a pretty reasonable low reserve. If you really like to get a top notch Cougar i would recommend you to look at my other 1967 Cougar, that Car is hot and way Nicer. But this 1970 Mercury XR 7 Cougar has more Collector Value because it is a harder to find and more Collectible XR 7.So if you like Cougars like i do at least you have a Choice to pick the car you would like to have.Anyway this 1970 Cougar has a 351 Cleveland V-8 2 Barrel Carb.Engine(possibly Matching Numbers) but dont count me on it.Transmission is a 3 Speed Automatic that shifts smooth without any Problems. This Car runs pretty good ,but i would recomend to put a 4 barrel carb on this one to really have a little bit more Performance.Brakes are Drums all the Way around. This car starts up easy and runs and drives pretty good.Interior is very nice with beautiful Upholstery that matches the car very well. The dash is nice. The black Carpet is Clean----Door Panels are nice-------The Headliner looks to be Original and is in fantastic Condition------The car has a brand new Windshield--------the maroon kind of a Metallic candy apple Paintjob looks nice. The car has a nice straight body without any Damage, but it is not flawless.there was a Vinyl top on before and as we all know the reason from the factory in 1970 to put on a Vinyl top was because there was some flaws on the roof top.I tried to show on the pictures, but it is hard to see the flaws on top of the roof, because the pictures look so good.they are not really visible from farther away, but they are there. The Engine compartment and under hood is painted and pretty clean.the trunk is clean. All the Gauges work, but the clock and the gas Gauge. The Interior Switches work. The Doors and the Trunk are aligned pretty good and open nice and tight. The large Hood closes and opens good, but needs to be aligned better. The Chrome on the car is nice. The old Style Racing Wheels are polished and look beautiful on this Cougar.Tires are almost new with 90 % Tread left. The car has a Dual Exhaust(Cherry bombs) that sounds really good.I have seen XR 7 Cougars advertised for 15.000 to 20.000 dollars with rust and not even painted. But some people are dreamers i guess and have to learn.I am a realistic and down to earth guy and easy to deal with.i know what i got,but i will give anyone a very fair and good deal if someone is really interested. So here is a sharp looking and good running Rare 1970 XR 7 Cougar that is not perfect going to be auctioned with a pretty low reserve to the highest bidder.car will be sold as is without any Warranty or promises. Please look at all the pictures at close up and make sure this is the car you really want when you bid on it.Please ask all the Questions before you bid and i will answer them with the best of my knowledge.I am not an Expert or mechanic and i really tried to describe this great looking cougar the best i could.i prefer you to pick up the car in person if you would be the highest bidder,I would even pay part of your trip if you would end up getting the car.no problem. There is a 1.000 dollar non refundable deposit within 2 days and rest of payment is due within 7 days after Auction has ended.thanks .please make sure you have the funds available before bidding.

The 1965 Ford Mustang could have looked a lot different
Fri, May 8 2020The 1965 Ford Mustang is unquestionably an automotive design icon, and nearly every generation of Mustang has some connection to that original car. Because it's such a universally-known vehicle, we were amazed to see all the different designs that were being considered. Head of Ford's archives Ted Ryan recently shared photos of design proposals for the original Mustang on Twitter that he and Jamie Myler found, and we reached out to them to find out more. As Ryan initially noted, the photos were taken on August 19, 1962, and they are proposals for the Ford Mustang. Apparently Ford had committed to doing a Falcon-based youth-oriented car at this point, and it did have plans to launch the car in 1964 for the 1965 model year. But after having little success with early design proposals, the company asked all of its design studios — the Advanced Studio, Lincoln-Mercury Studio and Ford Studio — to submit proposals. With only about two years before the planned launch, Ford was understandably short on time, and it's believed that the studios only had a month to create and present these designs. Lincoln-Mercury design proposal View 8 Photos The majority of the designs, a total of five, came from the Advanced Studio, and part of this was because they already had a couple of concept designs in reserve it could present. Two other models representing three design possibilities came from Lincoln-Mercury, and just one model with two options came from Ford. The Advanced Studio proposals are shown in the gallery at the very top of this article, and the Lincoln-Mercury and Ford proposals are in the gallery directly above this paragraph. The Advanced Studio's most radical design is the one that was clearly related to the Mustang I concept that would be shown later that year with huge wraparound rear glass, turbine-inspired bumpers and enormous side scoops. The other proposals from the studio were more conservative, featuring simple lines, grilles reminiscent of the Falcon, and one even borrowing the jet-thruster-style taillights made famous on the Thunderbird. Lincoln-Mercury had some impressively bold designs, particularly its fastback that had buttresses to extend the shape all the way to the tail. This car had two different side trim possibilities. The other Lincoln-Mercury design was toned down a bit, but had two interesting possibilities for side detailing, as well as some crisp, low-profile tail fins.
New Forza 6 car pack will let you race the Pontiac Aztek
Fri, Jan 29 2016Just in time for this weekend's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, the new Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6 on the Xbox One lets you slip into the driver's seat of last year's winner. If you want to take something much weirder for a spin, the collection also includes a 2005 Pontiac Aztek. The download is available now for $6.99. The Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona was in a four-car battle early in last year's race, but it eventually was victorious. Forza Motorsport 6 also challenges drivers who download the car to a new Rivals event around Daytona, and the fastest people could win Alpinestars prizes. If you're nostalgic for a classic Daytona racecar, this pack includes Mercury #15 Whistler Radar Cougar XR-7. The V8-powered beast won the IMSA GTO class in the 24-hour event in 1990. It should be fun around the game's longer road courses like Road Atlanta. This collection also has an eclectic mix of vehicles that aren't racecars. The controversial Aztek and the equally-controversial 1996 Subaru SVX take their places beside a lineup that offers drivers three eras of performance cars – a 1967 Sunbeam Tiger, 1974 Toyota Corolla SR5, and 1992 Alfa Romeo Milano Quadrifoglio Verde. The video below shows all of them in action. Race to the Finish Line with the Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6 By Xbox Wire Staff posted on January 27, 2016 at 8:00 am With the racing season set to kick into full gear during this weekend's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona race, Forza fans now have a chance to get their own taste of endurance racing glory with the Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6, available on Thursday, Jan. 28. Leading off the pack of seven cars is last year's 24 Hours of Daytona winner, the 2015 Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona Prototype. The prototype will be fielded in this weekend's race, which begins at 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 30 and can be viewed live on Fox Sports 1 in the U.S. The Alpinestars Car Pack features six additional cars, each with a unique pedigree all its own. From the 1990 Mercury #15 Whistler Radar Cougar XR-7 – also a competitor in Daytona 24 Hour events of years past – to the inimitable 2005 Pontiac Aztek (famous more for its fictional owner than its performance), this pack has something for every kind of car fan. Forza Motorsport 6 is the only game where players can drive last year's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona winner on the recently remodeled Daytona International Speedway.
Junkyard Gem: 1989 Mercury Tracer Four-Door Hatchback
Sat, Mar 6 2021During the life of the Mercury brand, which began in 1939 and ended in 2011, nearly every Mercury sold in North America was a cosmetically enhanced version of some Ford model also sold here. The exceptions to this rule came when Mercury sold Fords originally designed for non-North American markets, and for which no Ford-branded version existed on our shores. The 1991-1994 Capri was such a car, as was the 1999-2002 Cougar (the Mondeo-based Cougar was unique among all Mercuries in that no other cars in the sprawling Ford Empire shared its body). The 1970-1978 Capri was sold through Mercury dealers here, but never had Mercury badging. One of the rarest of all these Mercury cars was the first-generation Tracer, a Mazda design that made its way here via Australia. The bloodline of the Tracer goes back to the Mazda 323, the ancestor of today's Mazda3 and the platform used for all those US-market Ford Escorts of the 1990s. Starting in 1991, the Tracer name went onto badge-engineered Escorts, according to Mercury tradition, but the 1988-1989 Tracers were based on the Australian-market Ford KE Laser. Underneath all of those cars (as well as the early-1990s Capris) lived Mazda 323 running gear, of course. This one nearly made it to the 175,000-mile mark during its time on the road, which is respectable by the standards of 1980s Mazdas. With an automatic transmission transferring the 84 horses from its Mazda B6 engine to the front wheels, this car wouldn't have offered a great deal of driving excitement. 1989 Tracer buyers could choose between a two-door hatchback, a four-door hatchback, and a four-door wagon. Not many Americans hurried over to their local Mercury dealers to buy Tracers, despite the fact that the nearest Ford-badged identical twins were on the other side of the globe. Mercury still seemed relevant in the late 1980s, but its days were numbered. The actress driving the Tracer in this TV commercial seems to have the same deer-in-headlights facial expression of the hapless driver-training students in the 1968 AMC Rebel commercial.
