Here is your chance for a great American Muscle Car investment. This car is an attention getter where ever you go.  It's fun to watch peoples faces especially when you start it up or pull up to someone at a stop.  My daughter and I took it to a classic Ford show and came away with a trophy. This is a rare S code XR7.  Previous owners were brothers. The oldest gave it to the younger brother who later went to serve our country.

I gave it brand new interior featuring upgraded new carpet, dash pad, headliner and  upholstery keeping it factory color dark blue.  It also has a brand new clear coat paint job(stripped down to metal and primer)kept to original factory Wellington Blue Poly.  According to the previous owners the engine has about 20K miles since being rebuilt and the transmission has about 10K since being rebuilt.  I saw the receipts but was unable to get copies.

There are many new parts including: Holly 650 Double Pumper Carb., Mallory Dual Point Distributor, Water Pump, Fuel Pump, Timing Chain, Radiator, Heater Core, Hoses, Fuel Tank.  I have saved all reciept since my almost 2 years of ownership.  There are a few things that need to finish restoration: Hook up A/C, Repair Clock, Cigarette lighter and defroster cable needs adjusting.  I also have pictures of the car when it was in it's primer stage before paint.

The only thing not kept stock on the car is the new Pioneer Stereo system,  Edelbrock intake manifold, air cleaner, and the 17 American Racing Rims.  Available with sale: Stock Hubcaps and 2 Rims, AM 8Track Radio(8 Track needs repair),  Stock Intake Manifold, Stock Air Cleaner and A/C Parts.

A demonstration of the car is on youtube at: http://youtu.be/c83IIBTIUOw

Video includes full walk around of exterior and interior of the vehicle along with starting up the car and a quick burnout.

NHTSA investigating 500k Ford and Mercury cars for lighting failures

Mon, Apr 6 2015

The Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis might be long gone as new models in showrooms, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration might check them out yet again for a potential problem. At the urging of North Carolina Consumers Council, the agency may open another investigation into the front lighting control module on vehicles from the 2003-2005 model years, and NHTSA estimates the issue could affect 517,945 vehicles. If the module stops working, it can cause a complete failure of all forward lighting, including the headlights. NHTSA previously investigated the issue in 2008 and 2009 but found no need for a recall, according to Bloomberg. Ford also extended the warranty on the part to 15 years or 250,000 miles. To prompt this new request, the North Carolina Consumers Council received a letter from a woman experiencing the module's failure. Upon further investigation, the council found 604 complaints of this problem on NHTSA's website, including seven crashes. Furthermore, the group has alleged that dealers told customers that the parts to perform the replacement weren't available, despite the extended warranty. According to the government agency, "A defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and make a grant or deny decision." Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker tells Autoblog via email, "We will cooperate with NHTSA, as we always do." You can read the council's complete letter to the Feds in PDF format, here. INVESTIGATION Subject : Loss of headlamp/exterior lighting Date Investigation Opened: APR 01, 2015 Date Investigation Closed: Open NHTSA Action Number: DP15002 Component(s): EXTERIOR LIGHTING All Products Associated with this Investigation Vehicle Make Model Model Year(s) FORD CROWN VICTORIA 2003-2005 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS 2003-2005 Details Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company SUMMARY: The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received a petition from the North Carolina Consumers Council, Inc. requesting a defect investigation of an alleged defect condition resulting in headlight and/or exterior lighting failure on 2003-2005 Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis vehicles. The petition letter is attached for review. The petitioner alleges a defect in the lighting control module that powers the headlights which can result in the loss of vehicle headlights and/or all exterior lighting while driving. ODI has previously investigated this issue under PE08-066 which was closed without a defect finding.

Has the Mercury Marauder gotten better with age?

Fri, Oct 23 2015

In the early 2000s Mercury desperately wanted to develop some edge for its brand – seemingly stuck between a quasi-premium, quasi-performance space in the Ford Universe. The Marauder is perhaps the most famous of the vehicles that resulted from those efforts, and is rapidly approaching Modern Classic status, today. Effectively a murdered out Grand Marquis with some updated trim pieces – what are company parts bins for, if not raiding? – the Marauder looked convincingly like a bad guy car. The 4.6-liter V8 under its hood that had been breathed on by engineers for a little more power, kicking out 302 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque from the factory. Not exactly Ferrari-baiting numbers, but it'd give your local cop's car a run for its money. Being a wild child of the last decade, of course our friends at MotorWeek had it on the program. What better way to test your mean-mugging muscle sedan than with John Davis' tanned and steady hands?

NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.
