All parts are present in the interior and exterior with the exception of a fiberglass Cyclone hood replaces the original steel hood. I do not have the original hood."

I'm offering at auction my 1967 Comet Voyager 4 door wagon. The Comet wagon has been stored outside at a storage facility for the past 2 years. I purchased a new battery and Solenoid for it and started the car on the first try. It idles perfectly.  The Comet wagon is a factory C code 289 auto 8" rear end.I purchased the car off of eBay in 2007. It has been upgraded with a Offenhauser manifold and Holley 600cfm carb. This is a column shift C4 automatic. Getting this car ready for an extended trip is the responsibility of the new owner. The front end components are worn and should be looked at before taking it on any long trips.

The car has a complete interior. The upholstery is torn on the front bench and back seat. The cargo area needs a replacement interior side cover.

The car's body is overall pretty straight but the paint is poor and not an original Ford color. The front fenders  have been replaced.  The wagon has some rust on the lower section of the tailgate and the front floors. The fiberglass Cyclone hood looks good on this car. I do not have the original steel hood and the hood springs have been removed. All of the glass is perfect in the car as is the dash top. The radio is missing having been replaced with a aftermarket stereo.

I purchased a set of tires in 2010 and they have fewer than 500 miles on them. The drum brakes front and rear, radiator, rear axle bearings, hood prop rod, side view mirrors were all replaced with new parts in 2010. The rear window and rear dual action door which folds down like a tailgate and opens out like a regular door were rewired and repaired and now work properly. The wheels and wheel covers are from a Lincoln and go with the car.

If you are a California bidder be advised that there is a total of $464 owed to the DMV before the Comet can be registered in CA. There is no smog necessary.

The Hagerty valuation tool has the Comet Voyager wagon in #4 condition which is Fair at $16,900. A picture of the valuation chart is included.

I reserve the right to end the auction early because the car is for sale locally.  Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I can help with loading.

A deposit to my PayPal account in the amount of $500 is required within 2 days of the close of the auction. Full payment in cash or certified funds is required within 7 days of the close of the auction. The car will not move until funds have cleared my bank. Please contact me in order to arrange to see the wagon. The car is currently located at my storage facility so I need some advance warning to arrange to see it.

Another ebayer selling his Fairlane said this " This car is being sold as is where is with no warranty implied.  It is also for sale/trade locally, I reserve the right to end auction early.  CASH only please!  I do not need any help selling this car.  If you feel the car is an easy sell, feel free to buy it from me and sell it for what you think it is worth.  And finally, I know this car has flaws, dents, dings, rips, scratches, leaks peeling paint, rust and rot, that is why the car is being sold for under $2000..."

Thanks for viewing this auction and good luck bidding.

Junkyard Gem: 2007 Mercury Mariner Hybrid

Sat, Dec 19 2020

Once hybrid vehicles from Honda and Toyota proved to work well in the real world of American streets during the early 2000s, other U.S.-market manufacturers climbed aboard the gasoline-electric bandwagon. Ford introduced the Escape Hybrid for the 2005 model year and sales proved quite strong; its Mercury-badged sibling, the Mariner Hybrid, appeared the following year. The Mariner Hybrid never induced many vehicle shoppers to sign on the line which is dotted, despite gasoline prices going absolutely ape in 2008, though it remained available all the way through the Mercury brand's 2010 demise. Here's one of those rare trucks, found in a Denver-area yard last month. The Escape/Mariner Hybrids got amazing fuel economy for tall, truck-shaped machines, though the serious penny-pinchers with long commutes skipped anything built in the 21st century and began driving up the prices of the once-scorned Geo Metro XFi, gas-sipping champion of the previous decade. The Mercury brand was on the ropes by this time, with not much to distinguish the once-distinctive Mercury machines from their near-identical Ford counterparts. The 1999-2002 Cougar was the last Mercury sold here with no twin brothers over in the Ford showrooms. I do see the occasional Escape Hybrid in places like this, though such gas-saving small SUVs tend to retain their value well enough that it takes a crash to retire one. This Mariner Hybrid hit something hard and either flipped on its side or scraped a guardrail for some distance. The airbags deployed and, presumably, spared the occupants from serious injury. That's the good news. The bad news is that fixing this kind of damage to a 13-year-old vehicle made by a defunct brand just isn't worth it to insurance companies, hybrid-electric powertrain or not. We can assume that the battery pack lives on in another Escape/Mariner. Navigation, Bluetooth, and other features that were considered pretty slick in 2007. This truck was in pretty good shape until the very end. Jill Wagner proved that you can bury a Mercury emblem in volcanic soil and it will grow into a brand-new Mariner Hybrid. That's how science works! You can go to the same field and tap on a Mercury emblem, if you want to get a regular gasoline Mariner. Ford recalling 126,000 Fusions and Milans over wheel separation concern

Fri, 09 Dec 2011

Ford has announced a recall of certain Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan vehicles after an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A total of 128,616 2010 and 2011 models equipped with steel wheels may have been manufactured with wheel studs that could crack and split over time. If that happens, the vehicle may experience a wheel separation.
According to The Detroit News, the company is aware of a total of 30 wheel separation incidents, one of which occurred on the front of the vehicle. Even so, no injuries have been reported as a result of the defect.
The problem apparently stems from the fact that the mounting pads on the vehicles' steel wheels may have been faulty from the factory. In addition, the wheel mounting face on rear disc brakes may not have been installed properly. Ford will inspect the rear disc face and replace them as necessary. In addition, the company will replace all of the vehicle's wheel studs free of charge. Head to the NHTSA website for more information, and click past the jump to view the full recall notice.

Ford finally issues recall for 230K minivans over rust problems

Sun, 10 Mar 2013

The rust issue in the rear wheel wells of 2004-2007 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans has finally led to a recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began an investigation into the matter in 2011, said investigation being upgraded to an engineering analysis a year later while NHTSA tried to figure out how many model years should be included in the assessment.
Ford has decided to recall all of the 230,000 minivans potentially affected, namely those sold in salt-belt states and countries like Canada. The excess rust in the rear wheel wells was also able to prevent the third-row seats from locking to the floor of the minivan. To repair the problem, owners can take their minivans to dealers, and the dealers will place new panels in the wheel wells, replace the third-row seat mounting brackets and relocate the latches to an area away from any corrosion.
Ford says it will begin notifying owners during the last week of March.
