1967 COMET CALIENTE

BEAUTIFUL TROPICAL TURQUOISE PAINT

VERY NICE INTERIOR

CLEAR GLASS....GLEAMING CHROME

POWER STEERING

SOLID TENNESSEE CAR

 Mileage: Reading 92562

TITLE:   Clear Tennessee title in hand with a VIN that matches the plate on the car.

HISTORY:   I don't have any history on this car other than I bought it in Nashville at the Good Guys car show. I bought it from a older man that owns a bodyshop near Nashville. He bought it to keep, but decided to sell.

I DO NOT SHOW CARS ON SUNDAY: I'm almost 66 years old and need a day off. I worship on Sunday, I spend time with my family. I will be happy to show you cars or talk to you 6 days a week, just email or call and make an appointment to come look at my cars.

TIME SAVER::::::: My buy now price is my lowest price, it is real and fair for this car. I will not trade cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CALIENTE:::: It means hot is Spanish.

IS THERE ANY RUST PROBLEMS?      No rust issues that I see, the floors are solid, they look original to me, no under coating so you can see what your getting. The frame and supports are solid, the under side is not painted slick, but is very solid.

IS THERE ANY ACCIDENT DAMAGE?  None that I can find.

WHY AM I SELLING THIS CAR?     I’m a 66 year old retired mechanic/classic car restorer/auto mechanics intructor, when I find a car I like, can sell for a fair market price and make a few bucks, I buy it fix a few things and resell.

PAINT:     The car has a brillant shine, it is tropical turquoise.  No rust bubbles, no dents or big dings, a couple of very small flaws that you have to inspect with a critical eye to find. The car is straight to look down the sides. Its as nice as I care to drive on the street, its plenty good for your local car shows.

CHROME AND BRIGHTWORK:       Over all the chrome would be considered nice, the bumpers have been re-chromed, the stainless is nice, the door handles and vent window chrome have some pits.

IS THIS A REAL GT???? I think not, the restorer just liked the racing stripe and GT emblems.

INTEROR:     Good interior, no wear, no bad smells, its done in a wide pleated type pattern and looks good to me. The carpet is a little faded, but still very nice.

GLASS:   Clear windshield and all the window roll up and down good.

ENGINE:    The engine is a strong running 289 V eight, it has no knocks or rattles and no blue smoke.

EXHAUST SYSTEM:  Good used condition, the mufflers are Old School Cherry Bomb glass packs and sound good.

TRANSMISSION:    Its a 3 speed automatic that shifts good. C4 is Fords name for it.

REAR-END:    No whines or growls, its a 8 inch Ford and not positive traction, I have not checked the ratio, but its a highway gearing.

BRAKES:  Good brakes, the are drums and stop good.

STEERING:  Good, the car drives good for the day, it is power steering.

WHEELS AND TIRES:     The wheels are made by Center Line, not cheap wheels and the tires have good tread, I can feel the right front roll a little at slow speed (no shake or vibration, just the tire a little out of round).

LIGHTS:     They work, turn signals work, headlights work, tail lights work, brake lights work, dome light is not working, I'll check the bulb and fuse.

SPEEDOMETER WORKS!     GAS GAUGE WORKS!  wipers work! HORN is not working!

HOW DO THE DOORS AND HOOD OPEN AND CLOSE?    I think they open and close good.

PANEL FIT: They all fit good for a Comet, this is not perfect, they were not perfect from the factory, this one is better than most, the trunk rubber is new so the back corners are up a little.

CAN I DRIVE THE CAR HOME? The car drives good and everything I have checked is in good condition, but I do not recommend driving any old car home. Reason, I test drive them like a garage doing repair work would, I do not take long trips in them, so it worries me when people head out in a old car.

TRADES: Please no trades, they never work out and are just to hard!

The rest of the information is boring unless you are really interested in buying the car, its just buying details like shipping, paperwork, who I am, where the car is located and how to pay and contact information.

CONTACT INFO: my cell is 423-506-8987, I do not answer when driving, while meeting with people, after about 8:00 PM Eastern Time or on Sunday morning or Sunday nights. Please leave a voice mail and I’ll get back. I do check my emails several times a day.

     cell    423-506-8987     email:  dreamcar@live.com

PAPERWORK: I know what to do! We are just a father/son 2 man operation, but we are a Tennessee licensed/bonded car dealer and have sold cars all over the US and exported many.

THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the right to stop the listing at any time and sale the car “come look”.

I RESERVE TH RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR SALE ON THE LOCAL MARKET.

WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED:  The car is here at my home in Athens, Tennessee. Athens is in east Tennessee, we are 50 miles south of  Knoxville. Look at a Road Atlas and follow interstate 75 south from Knoxville. I live one mile and one turn from the interstate exit. My zip code is 37303. The closest large airport is Knoxville. Athens does have a good small airport, but has no commercial flights.

WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM:  My name is Ron Watson and I live in the small town of Athens, TennesseeAthens is called the friendly city”. We are located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee. I am 66 years old and work with my son Keith who is now 42. I am now retired and living my dream restoring, selling and improving classic cars. For 12 years I was an auto mechanics instructor at Tennessee Technology Center here in Athens. I am also a veteran of the US Army; I served as a Chinook helicopter mechanic, crew chief and instructor in the late 60s, I did spend a year in Vietnam.  I’m Southern Baptist faith and proud to be an American.  I’ve been married to the same good woman for almost 43 years. LIFE IS GOOD IN THE GREEN HILLS OF EAST TENNESSEE!

MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for Athens, Tennessee is 37303. I live 1 mile off a major interstate (I-75) and 35 miles south of interstate 40,  so transport is usually very fast.

PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car, this can be by PayPal, but I will not take full payment by PayPal.

Option 1: Pay the old school way face to face.

Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the check clears, I have had

                          a fake bank certified check.

Option 3: The safest and fastest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a

member of the US Federal Reserve, this is called wire

                           transfer.

INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy. All inspections are required to be done before the end of the listing. I listed this car as I see it as a 64 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. I judge the car to my standards, this may not be yours. Paid inspectors are unpredictable, you might get a good one, but most of them do not impress me at all, most really don’t know what to look at, they make a good car sound bad on the report. They have to be very critical to cover their back sides and all their concerned about is getting paid. I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking, but I think you should come look yourself.  I don’t like paid inspectors, I like for the person that is buying to inspect for themselves. I think its fine to send a friend to inspect for you. To make it clear, don’t hit the buy now button and then inspect, come inspect first!

TRADES: Please no trades!

BOTTOM LINE:    My price is $12,850, I'm asking more on the local market. The game is not rocket science, ask a price on the local markety and come down. It’s not fun to bargain over the cell phone all day long with people that live 2000 miles away and are not going to buy anyway. My firm price is the Buy Now price. I have sold every car I have ever tried to, so I’m not motivated to be bargained down.

PLEASE!!!!!!   PLEASE!!!!! PLEASE!!!!! Come look at this vehicle.

Please don’t hit the Buy Now button unless your ready to really buy it!

Do your research, call me with questions, read my feed backs, I am ebay verified; this means they say I’m a real person in a real place.

I WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO SELL YOU THE VEHICLE WITH-OUT AN INSPECTION; YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF NERVE AND PLEASE DON’T BE A CRY BABY.

Read the ME section on the upper right hand part of the listing marked seller info.

Thank You,

Ron Watson                  cell: 423-506-8987        email: dreamcar@live.com

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

Thu, 10 May 2012

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.

Impala SS vs. Marauder: Recalling Detroit’s muscle sedans

Thu, Apr 30 2020

Impala SS vs. Marauder — it was comparo that only really happened in theory. ChevyÂ’s muscle sedan ran from 1994-96, while MercuryÂ’s answer arrived in 2003 and only lasted until 2004. TheyÂ’re linked inextricably, as there were few options for powerful American sedans during that milquetoast period for enthusiasts. The debate was reignited recently among Autoblog editors when a pristine 1996 Chevy Impala SS with just 2,173 miles on the odometer hit the market on Bring a Trailer. Most of the staff favored the Impala for its sinister looks and said that it lived up to its billing as a legit muscle car. Nearly two-thirds of you agree. We ran an unscientific Twitter poll that generated 851 votes, 63.9 percent of which backed the Impala. Muscle sedans, take your pick: — Greg Migliore (@GregMigliore) April 14, 2020 Then and now enthusiasts felt the Impala was a more complete execution with guts. The Marauder, despite coming along later, felt more hacked together, according to prevailing sentiments. Why? On purpose and on paper theyÂ’re similar. The ImpalaÂ’s 5.7-liter LT1 V8 making 260 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque was impressive for a two-ton sedan in the mid-Â’90s. The Marauder was actually more powerful — its 4.6-liter V8 was rated at 302 hp and 318 lb-ft. The ImpalaÂ’s engine was also used in the C4 Corvette. The MarauderÂ’s mill was shared with the Mustang Mach 1. You can see why they resonated so deeply with Boomers longing for a bygone era and also captured the attention of coming-of-age Gen Xers. Car and DriverÂ’s staff gave the Marauder a lukewarm review back in ‘03, citing its solid handling and features, yet knocking the sedan for being slow off the line. In a Hemmings article appropriately called “Autopsy” from 2004, the ImpalaÂ’s stronger low-end torque and smooth shifting transmission earned praise, separating it from the more sluggish Mercury. All of this was captured in the carsÂ’ acceleration times, highlighting metrically the differences in their character. The Impala hit 60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds, while the Marauder was a half-second slower, according to C/D testing. Other sites have them closer together, which reinforces the premise it really was the little things that separated these muscle cars. Both made the most of their genetics, riding on ancient platforms (FordÂ’s Panther and General MotorsÂ’ B-body) that preceded these cars by decades. Both had iconic names.

Ford recalls 1.9m cars and crossovers for defective airbags

Wed, Jun 1 2016

The Basics: Ford is recalling a total of 1,898,728 vehicles to replace defective Takata front passenger-side airbags. This includes the 2007-2010 Ford Edge, 2006-2011 Ford Fusion, 2005-2011 Ford Mustang, 2007-2011 Ford Ranger, 2007-2010 Lincoln MKX and 2006-2011 Lincoln MKZ, Zephyr and Mercury Milan vehicles built in North America. The Problem: The defective airbags have been linked to ruptures that can send metal fragments at the passenger, due to deteriorating propellant. Injuries/Deaths: Ford claims it's not aware of any injuries due to the problem, but rupturing Takata airbags have been linked to a series of serious injuries and deaths. The Fix: Dealers will replace the passenger-side frontal airbag at no charge to the customer. If you own one: Look out for a letter from the manufacturer to arrange service at your local dealer. If you'd like to check if your vehicle is affected, click on the safety recalls link on Ford.com and enter your VIN. Related Video:
