1985 Mercury Capri RS T-Top 5.0 aod 1 of 1399 ever made. RARE 64K actual miles, US $4,500.00, image 1

This is a great car that needs some TLC. I decided to sell my winter project. It is a virgin 64K actual mile MERCURY '85 RS T-Top Capri. 1 of 1399 T-Top Capri's ever made. Break that down to tan interior cars and it's probably less than 100 left today. It's a Oklahoma rust free car it's whole life. Its a real deal 5.0 car with the auto trans. That means its the 175HP CFI fuel throttle body injected. It runs great and doesn't smoke or knock. Its completely original, short of daily maintenance items and dual exhaust. as you can see it caught a deer on left fender and small door damage but comes with two perfect rust free fenders and hood. This would be a easy father son project and would be a great teenager car as its the auto trans car. It has had a complete dual exhaust system installed with large chrome tips sounds great. These are the first cars with forged pistons so would be great to modify with performance parts. The sky's the limit with these engines as they have lots of available parts at reasonable prices. These FOX body platform cars have lots of possibilities. I would restore as its so close to original.

It does need some brake work(bleeds off when pedal is depressed but pump up quickly) and does have some fluid leaks
. It has been sitting the last five years in a storage shed. It has the typical crack in the floor these cars get. I purchased subframe connectors with floor brace that are included. We did drive it 450 miles to my house from where we purchased it in Oklahoma. I would recommend a trailer but its up to you if you wanna take the chance. When it leaves my house it's your baby.

I will assist in loading any way I can. I cannot deliver you must come get it.
I can store up to two weeks or longer if discussed at auction close. As long as it's paid in full within 72 hours of auction close. There is a $500 deposit required at auction close through PAYPAL within 24hrs of auction close.

I reserve the right to close this auction at any time for any reason without repercussion to me. This is a real car and this is a real deal and it needs to go. I just got divorced and need to free up some funds. I am a serious seller looking for a serious buyer. please call with any questions you have I can take any picture wanted and text you or email you back.

Please call Todd with serious questions @ 515-556-7730. Any question asked that is not serious or can be explained in the pics/description will not be responded to.

Mustang, Camaro, Challenger gallop onto USPS pony car postage stamp set

Tue, Jul 19 2022

Some of America's most iconic cars are about to be immortalized on postage stamps. A new set by the U.S. Postal Service will celebrate the the golden era of pony cars, featuring five classic examples of Detroit iron. Each one is beautifully illustrated in oil-on-canvas style, with subjects in motion and sunlight glinting off the chrome, and would add a nice touch to any first-class letter. The pony car segment was all about (relatively) small, sporty alternatives to the full-size land yachts of the 1960s. They typically came equipped with 6-cylinder engines or small-block V8s. The category was named after the Ford Mustang, hence  the name. Some, though, argue that the Plymouth Barracuda, which was launched a couple of weeks before the Mustang, is the first. Luckily, the Falcon-based Mustang's distinct styling generated a sales sensation, or we might be calling them fish cars. Appropriately, one of the featured cars is a Mustang. But it's not just any Mustang. The 1969 Boss 302, seen here resplendent in Bright Yellow, was created for the hotly-contested SCCA Trans-Am racing series. One of its main rivals would have been the 1969 Chevy Camaro Z/28, also created specifically for the series, and is included in the set in Fathom Green. Representing Auburn Hills in the set is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T in Plum Crazy, while Southfield's American Motors gets a nod with an AMC Javelin in Big Bad Orange. The Mustang's platform cousin, a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7, is portrayed in a gorgeous Burgundy Poly that almost looks incomplete without Neko Case on the hood. It's not the first time the USPS has honored America's rich car culture on its stamps. In 2013, it issues a series of muscle car stamps with the help of Richard Petty. That set featured a 1966 Pontiac GTO, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1970 Chevelle SS, 1970 Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda and, of course, a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. Another set in 2016 featured classic pickup trucks. Going further back, a 2008 release had chroed and finned automobiles of the 1950s and a 2005 release featured sporty American cars of the same era. The pony car stamps will debut on August 25 at the Great American Stamp Show in Sacramento, California in partnership with the American Philatelic Society. The public is free to attend the dedication ceremony, but you must RSVP first. After that, they will be available at local post offices and on line at the USPS store.

Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement. Scroll down to read the recall announcement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or download the full defect notice as a PDF, here.

What do you do with a fake Bugatti Veyron for $60k?

Tue, Mar 29 2016

Replica cars are a challenging labor of love because builders spend countless hours recreating a vehicle that people immediately compare to the real thing. Perhaps, the person behind this Mercury Cougar-based Bugatti Veyron should look for another way to pass that time. The coupe is currently for sale on eBay Motors for $59,900. The builder deserves some credit because the fiberglass body looks acceptable in the photos from farther away. The car might even fool a few people from a distance. However, the devil is in the details, and the closer you look, the worse this gets. The side intakes are especially rough. The red interior is atrocious. It's essentially the Cougar's cabin but in an eye-searing shade accented with lots of fake carbon fiber. The seller's eBay Motors ad really tries to market the look, though. "You slide in to [sic] this extremely comfortable leather interior and you feel like your bank account just quadrupled in size," the listing says. Don't expect to win any top speed titles in this Veyron replica, either. Rather than a mid-mounted quad-turbo W16, a 3.0-liter V6 from a Mercury Sable sits at the front. Thanks to an upgraded intake and exhaust, the seller claims, "It doesn't sound like your grandmas [sic] Sable." We wish the seller the best of luck, but the asking price of nearly $60,000 is probably too optimistic. We would still think twice about buying it even after taking a zero off that figure, but at least this thing is fun to look at. Related Video:
