Rare Mercedes Benz Slk55 Amg With P30 Performance Package on 2040-cars
Alexandria, Virginia, United States
A sports car enthusiast will find everything he/she needs in this 2006 SLK55 AMG and more! It is fully loaded with a navigation package and Harman-Kardon audio system. On top of the SLK55's 355 HP and AMG performance improvements, you will get the P30 performance package - that's what makes this car a very rare MB roadster. This car handles better than any stock car I've ever had and I've owned a Ferrari F355!
Maybe you never knew Mercedes made such an exciting beast or maybe you've been looking for one for a long time -- either way, this car is a marvel of German engineering and a ton of fun and, most importantly, you do not have to sell your house to own it. I would not be parting with it except for a change in lifestyle that requires back seats :).
The car has a clean CARFAX report and all maintenance since 27k miles (I'm the second owner) has been done at an MB dealership. The last 50k miles are mostly highway miles. Rear tires are only a couple of months old, and front less than a year old. Rear brakes and rotors have also been replaced in the last year (this is a major item considering the performance upgrades). There are currently no mechanical issues with the car. Features include: 5.5L V8 engine 7-speed automatic transmission with paddle shift mode Rear wheel drive
18" wheels (5 spoke, not the standard SLK55 wheels) Leather seats Dual-zone climate control Navigation Harman-Kardon sound Bi-xenon headlights Automated roof P30 AMG performance package consists of: Cosmetic: AMG performance steering wheel AMG 18-inch multispoke alloy wheels AMG red brake calipers Performance: Top speed raised to 174 MPH AMG limited-slip differential AMG performance suspension |

Geely plans to launch hundreds of satellites to guide autonomous cars
Wed, Mar 4 2020BEIJING — China's Zhejiang Geely Holding Group said on Tuesday it was investing 2.27 billion yuan ($326 million) in a new satellite manufacturing plant, where it plans to build low-orbit satellites to provide more accurate data for self-driving cars. Geely, one of China's most internationally-known companies due to its investments in Daimler, Volvo and Proton, is building the facilities in Taizhou, where it has car plants. It aims to produce 500 satellites a year by around 2025, with around 300 highly-skilled staff, it said in a statement. Geely's technology development arm, Geely Technology Group, launched Geespace to research, launch, and operate low-orbit satellites in 2018. Geespace will begin the launch of its commercial low-orbit satellite network by the end of this year, Geely said. Geely said low-orbit satellites would offer high speed internet connectivity, precise navigation, and cloud computing capabilities to cars with autonomous driving technology. Geely, which sold 2.18 million cars last year, is among global automakers from Tesla to Toyota to pursue autonomous driving technologies. It is building low-orbit satellites to meet demand for high-speed connectivity capabilities that can deliver fast software updates. From around 2025, Geely's cars will have more functions to connect to the satellites. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Time to catch up with Jay Leno's Garage, including his Lamborghini Espada restoration
Tue, Dec 23 2014If you're already jealous of the time, effort and money that Jay Leno can devote to his massive car collection, prepare to get a little greener with envy with this latest video from Jay Leno's Garage. Instead of the usual format of discussing a model for about ten minutes and then taking it out for a test drive, this week Leno gives viewers on a tour of over a dozen projects concurrently happening in his stable. The breadth of the vehicles shown and the things being done to them run the entire span of the automotive hobby. At the same time, Jay's shop is working on just a simple restoration of his 1969 Lamborghini Espada (pictured), and at the other side of the building, the team is rebuilding a wood-bodied 1914 Detroit Electric from scratch. He eventually plans to slot a more modern electric drivetrain into it. If bikes are more your interest, there's a freshly completed Brough Superior just waiting for a ride, and if American models are your thing, a Ford Bronco is getting a Coyote V8 installed into it. You have some very specific tastes if you can't watch this clip and start wishing at least one of these vehicles could be in your own garage. Other than the personal projects his mechanics are working on in the shop, Jay gets to have them all, plus plenty more.
Erebus Motorsport Mercedes E-Class V8 Supercar completes the field [w/videos]
Sat, 23 Feb 2013Ford, Holden and Nissan introduced their V8 Supercar challengers a while back. Erebus Motorport, whose racing program got the green light not even 120 days ago, has finally shown off the Mercedes-Benz E-Class racer that will complete this year's field of entries. The first AMG race car ever to be built outside of Germany, it's an Australian-built tube-frame chassis specced to the series' Car of Tomorrow rules, fitted with body panels that channel the E63 AMG.
Supported by AMG Customer Motorsport, the 5.0-liter engine is provided by HWA in Germany, the racing arm of AMG. Regulations dictate that it have roughly 650 horsepower, a redline between 7,000 and 7,500 rpm and a torque curve that matches the parity baseline set for all cars.
Lee Holdsworth, Tim Slade and Maro Engel will drive the three team cars, each with different sponsors. Their first showing will be at the Clipsal 500 on March 3 in Adelaide, here in the US we'll get to see them in May at the Circuit of the Americas. Check out the videos below of the Erebus car starting up at its launch, and footage of all of this year's cars doing pre-season testing on track together.
