THIS IS PROBABLY THE BEST AVAILABLE EXAMPLE OF THIS CAR UNDER $20,000. I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THE CAR AND I ACQUIRED IT WITH ONLY 8,000 MILES. THE CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA UNTIL I BROUGHT IT T0 MY OTHER RESIDENCE IN LOUISVILLE, KY ONE YEAR AGO. IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN ABOUT 1000 MILES SINCE THEN. THE CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED AND HAS ALMOST NEVER BEEN DRIVEN IN THE RAIN.

I HAD THE CAR PAINTED BY ALFA-MILANO IN LOS ANGELES TWO YEARS AGO USING GLASURIT PAINT  FOR $6500. THE MAJOR THINGS THAT GO WRONG WITH THIS MODEL HAVE ALL BEEN ADDRESSED INCLUDING: THE REAR GEAR THAT USUALLY GOES OUT WAS DEALT WITH BY REPLACING THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION ABOUT 6000 MILES AGO. THE WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED ABOUT 7000 MILES AGO. EVERY OTHER ISSUE THAT HAS ARISEN HAS BEEN PROMPTLY FIXED USING ONLY EXPERT MERCEDES TECHNICIANS AND FACTORY PARTS. THE SOFT TOP WAS REPLACED 3 YEARS AGO AND IS AS NEW. THE $900 SET OF MICHELIN TIRES HAVE ABOUT 1100 MILES ON THEM. ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENENCE HAS BEEN PERFORMED ON TIME.

THE ORIGINAL STICKER PRICE ON THIS CAR WAS $106,000 SINCE IT HAS ALL THE FACTORY OPTIONS AVAILABLE AT THE TIME, WHICH INCLUDED DRIVER AND PASSENGER ORTHOPEDIC SEATS, THE IN-DASH PHONE, AND THE PORTABLE PHONE. BOTH PHONES ARE STILL IN THE CAR BUT CAN'T BE ACTIVATED SINCE THEY ARE THE OLD ANALOG SYSTEM. IT'S EASY TO HAVE THEM REMOVED IF DESIRED.

THE ONLY THING THAT ISN'T STOCK IS THE NAKAMICHI HEAD UNIT WITH CD AND THE REST OF THE INCREDIBLE SOUND SYSTEM WHICH FEATURES A VERY POWERFUL AND CLEAR MCINTOSH 4X100W POWER AMP ($1,100 IN 1995!), CROSSOVER, BOSE SUB SYSTEM, AND SPEAKERS. THIS IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST SYSTEMS I'VE EVER HEARD IN ANY CAR AND WAS OVER $8,000 WHEN ORIGINALLY CUSTOMIZED AND INSTALLED.

EVERYTHING ON THE CAR WORKS AS IT SHOULD AND THE AC BLOWS ICE COLD. I ALSO HAVE THE DETACHABLE WIND SCREEN WHICH IS LIKE NEW. THE HARDTOP WAS PAINTED ALONG WITH THE REST OF THE CAR AND IS 100% PERFECT INCLUDING THE INTERIOR AND HEADLINER. I CAN SEND PICTURES BUT I DID NOT HAVE ANYONE TO HELP ME PUT IT ON WHEN I PHOTOGRAPHED THE CAR AND WANTED TO GO AHEAD AND POST THE LISTING.

Race Recap: 2015 Canadian F1 Grand Prix is better behind the front

Mon, Jun 8 2015

As of Saturday afternoon in Montreal, Canada, it was all about the number four. Lewis Hamilton put his Mercedes-AMG Petronas on pole position for the fourth time at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, and now his tally of pole positions matches his race number: 44. Nico Rosberg lines up beside him, which is the fourth time that particular one-two combo has occurred this season. Ferrari spent three engine development tokens to try and close the gap to Mercedes, Kimi Raikkonen making the most of it with third position on the gird. His teammate Sebastian Vettel got the worst of it, however, when the MGU-K unit failed during Q1, leaving him 160 horsepower down and out at the first hurdle. Valtteri Bottas put a revitalized Williams on the grid at fourth, ahead of a Lotus lockout of the third row with Romain Grosjean leading the way in fifth, Pastor Maldonado just beside. Nico Hulkenberg got the first Sahara Force India into seventh – the team is still waiting on the upgraded B car that should be available for Austria – ahead of Daniil Kvyat in the first Infiniti Red Bull Racing and a "pissed off" Daniel Ricciardo in the second Red Bull. Sergio Perez made it two Force Indias in the top ten, a welcome result from a team performing below expectations of late. When the lights went out, at the very front it was much ado about not that much at all. Hamilton got away clean and stabbed across the track to close the door for Rosberg, giving Raikkonen a chance to take the inside line into Turn 1 in an attempt to clear Rosberg for second place. That didn't happen, leaving the two Mercedes' to run in grid position for the entire race. It wasn't boring – Rosberg stayed close, rubber-banding the time gap to the leader from a little more than one second to just under four seconds, and Montreal is famous for race-rearranging safety cars and on-track incidents. But none of those occurred, so Hamilton crossed the line 2.285 seconds ahead of Rosberg after 70 laps to earn his fourth victory in Canada and the first-ever victory for the Brackley, UK-based Mercedes team. Valtteri Bottas drove his Williams to third position, the first podium place for the team this year and a welcome salve to heal the team's wounds from a poor showing in Monaco. That placing came courtesy of being in the right place at the right time, which was not far behind Raikkonen when the Ferrari driver spun at the hairpin on Lap 28 after his first pit stop.

Chris Harris and David Coulthard wring out a Mercedes Fintail at the N"urburgring

Thu, 17 Oct 2013

If there's one thing we've learned from the latest video from Drive, it's that the combination of Chris Harris and David Coulthard will produce some very quotable moments. Take this exchange, for example.
DC: "We are by some way the slowest."
CH: "But we're in a class of three cars, apparently."

2015 Russian Grand Prix was full of crashes and DNFs

Mon, Oct 12 2015

Mercedes-AMG Petronas non-executive chairman Niki Lauda said of Lewis Hamilton's race-day domination this year, "The guy is driving like a god." Qualifying is another story, though – teammate Nico Rosberg taking pole proved that sometimes deities have to settle for second on the grid. Williams driver Valtteri Bottas surprised himself and his team with third place, half a second behind Hamilton but 0.05 sec ahead of the first Ferrari driven by Sebastian Vettel, while a mistake on Kimi Raikkonen's final flying lap left him in fifth, 0.4 sec behind Vettel. The Sahara Force India team had a good showing, with Nico Hulkenberg qualifying sixth just ahead of teammate Sergio Perez in seventh. It's the first time they've had both drivers in the top ten on the grid since the 2014 British Grand Prix. Romain Grosjean is leaving the stormy waters of Lotus at the end of the year for the unknown waters of Haas F1, but he made the shoestring operation look really good before Renault takes over by taking eighth place on the grid. Max Verstappen qualified well again with ninth in the Toro Rosso, ahead of the first Infiniti Red Bull Racing of Daniel Ricciardo in tenth. Red Bull driver Daniil Kvyat lined up eleventh for his home grand prix, certainly a disappointment after locking up fifth place on the grid last year in a Toro Rosso. When Pirelli brought soft and supersoft compounds to Sochi, the company said it hoped this year's race would be better than last year's. We're sure this first-lap mishap isn't what they meant. Rosberg and Hamilton dragged it down to Turn 1, with Rosberg getting the inside line. Hamilton had to go wide at Turn 2 as Rosberg fought to hold position, but they left a mess in their wake: Hulkenberg spun going into Turn 2 and stopped in the middle of the track, and Marcus Ericsson in the Sauber – who'd started 16th – collided with him. Both cars were out of the race immediately, and the Safety Car came in. The Safety Car returned to the pits on Lap 3 Rosberg led the field, but just two laps later the German complained of a sticking throttle pedal. Two laps later he had to retire, unable to drive the car properly. That put Hamilton at the front, and we've seen that race a bunch of times before. He built a double-digit lead and never lost it.
