1985 Mercedes 380SL – Two-owner – Perfect Carfax – All original – Arizona/California car

Very rarely do you have the opportunity to acquire a car as lovingly and well-kept as this one.  This two-owner, 112,000 mile car has always been garaged.  The interior looks new.  The dash is perfect with no cracks and everything works like it should.  All maintenance items have been attended to and the 380SL comes with extensive documentation to prove it.  The current owner has had it since 1989.  This 380SL has a perfect Carfax in addition to its stunning originality.

The car drives exactly like such a well maintained and serviced 380SL should.  The original paint is in very good condition.  The 380SL has never been in an accident and living in Arizona and California its whole life it shows no rust anywhere.  It spent every night in the garage.  The engine is extremely strong with no oil leaks, the transmission shifts smoothly through the gears with no noise and the exhaust is issue free as testified to by the recent California smog test.

Without a doubt, this is one of the finest classically beautiful roadster designs built by Mercedes-Benz. You will look long and hard to find a better kept or as well maintained head-turning original example in this great color combination as this SL380 car with only 112K original miles.  This car has been driven less than 4,000 miles per year.  This is the last and best year of the 380SL.  It has both tops and the convertible top is near perfect having rarely been used.  All of smoke-free interior is in great condition including the carpet and door panels.  The original radio and automatic antenna works.  This 380SL has all of its books, paperwork and tools.

In 1985 Mercedes Benz produced just 8,144 380SLs.  To find an original one is this great condition, driven less than 4,000 miles per year, is a phenomenal find.  Like all 1985 380SLs this car has the 16-valve fuel-injected V-8 engine displacing 3.8 liters (233 cubic inches), with a 3.62-inch bore and 2.83-inch stroke.  The compression ratio is a relatively high 9.0 to 1, and gives it 218 horsepower and 225 foot-pounds of torque.  This 380SL rides on a 96.9-inch wheelbase and measures 172.8 inches long.  It stands 51.2 inches tall and 70.5 inches wide.  Its curb weight is listed as 3,395 lbs.  Its fuel capacity is 19.8 gallons and it averages 20 mpg in mixed driving.

They're only original once.  This car is being sold without reserve and the highest bid will be putting it in their garage.

Mercedes-Benz introduces new heavy security M-Class Guard model

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new addition to the company's line of personal security vehicles. The M-Class Guard features bullet-proof side windows made with special laminated glazing and a polycarbonate inner layer to protect occupants from shards of glass. Mercedes says the M-Class Guard meets protection level VR4 according to the Bullet Resistant Vehicles 2009 standards, based on testing from the independent Ulm-based Ballistics Bureau, which means it can withstand .357 Magnum and .44 fire from multiple angles. It can also stand up to the DM51 hand grenade when equipped with optional floor armoring. Why skimp?
Buyers looking for protection from the world's literal slings and arrows can opt for the ML350 BlueTEC with its 258 horsepower 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine. With 457 pound-feet of torque, the oil-burner should have no trouble hustling the privileged class about. Of course, the ML500 offers a bit more punch courtesy of a 4.6-liter twin-turbo V8 with 408 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. Prices start at 105,050 euros for the diesel and 118,650 euros for the V8. You can check out the full press release below for more information.

New details emerge on forthcoming Mercedes-Benz SLC

Sat, 02 Feb 2013

Last we heard, the Mercedes-Benz SLC had been put on indefinite hold, but now Car Magazine is reporting that the Porsche 911-fighting "Baby SLS" coupe could be on sale by 2015. Riding on a modified SLS AMG chassis, the smaller and lighter SLC could be priced in the sub-$100,000 price bracket.
We'd already heard that the new car would feature conventional doors (instead of SLS-like gullwing doors), but this report focuses on some of the possible powertrains Mercedes-Benz is likely to use. At launch, the SLC could offer a pair of V8-powered models - a 485-horsepower SLC and a 585-hp SLC S - both being powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. About a year after launch, a new V6 model could emerge giving the SLC an estimated 333 horsepower and its lowest price point.
It also sounds like the car's name hasn't been completely finalized as some people within Mercedes are favoring a return of the SLR name.

Mercedes Concept GLA45 AMG is ready to run

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

This is the Mercedes-Benz Concept GLA45 AMG, and what we mean by that is, "This is the Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG." Mercedes has just unveiled the liveried 'concept' at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, giving potential customers a very good look at the newest lunatic in the AMG asylum - a 355-horsepower, 332-pound-foot crossover that uses the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the CLA45 AMG and Europe's A45 AMG.
Joined with a seven-speed, AMG Speedshift dual-clutch transmission and an AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, Mercedes promises a sub-five-second run to 60 miles per hour. That's not just quick for a crossover, that's quick full stop.
That sleek, lifted body has also been tweaked by the minds at AMG's Affalterbach facility. A new rear spoiler, side sills and front clip are the primary aerodynamic tweaks. Aesthetically, AMG has fitted the requisite "Turbo" badges, gloss-black accents (including exhaust tips and roof rails) and a set of 21-inch, AMG-spec alloy wheels to round out the overall package. Based on the spy shots we've seen, expect slightly toned down aerodynamics when the GLA45 AMG arrives in showrooms.
