I have owned this car for approximately 4 years, purchased used from a dealership in KY, and have greatly enjoyed driving it. Comfortable and elegant, it switches easily from smooth city driving to a road-hugging sports car. The seats heat you in winter and massage you at the push of a button (no kidding) . The Bose stereo with its 10 speakers (wherever they are) sounds simply superb. So too does the engine, for the hand assembled AMG engine (the guy who built it, signed it!) produces a low powerful sound. Frequently friends say, "I love the sound of your car". The car has required very little maintenance aside from regular service for oil, filters and etc. When I purchased it, I bought a 48 month warranty, and essentially never needed it. I have carefully maintained the car, mostly at MB dealerships. I also have driven it gently, never raced it and have not "souped it up". But it is wonderful to have the power to overtake another car, and when you want to accelerate this supercharged, 493hp, 516 lbs-ft torque car is scary fast. Also impressive is its ability to stop quickly. The oversize brakes (14" front, 13" rear) have NO fade according to Road and Track. The transmission is a 5-speed automatic with lockup torque converter, but the push of the button allows you to shift manually using either push buttons on the steering or using the shift. This is fun, but truthfully the automatic mode is smarter and faster than I am. On the highway, I routinely get about 21 mpg. As far as I know, everything works fine. The dual zone climate control is great, keeping me cool and my wife warm. The trunk size is ample (even with the top down) and carries enough luggage and extra junk for a comfortable long drive. The car has a CD based navigation system that works fine for us. But, should you find yourself going the wrong direction, like most MB's, the car can make a surprisingly small U-turn. The top has the optional panoramic glass sunroof and the convertible works flawlessly and is fun to watch. I would like to pass this car on to someone who understands and appreciates this superb automobile. The title is clean and the car has had no accidents. The exterior is clean, shiny, with no major defects whatsoever. There are a couple of minor scratches on the front bumper. The interior is in excellent condition. This was the high end Mercedes in 2003 and cost approximately $120,000. I have based the price on KBB private party sale for a car with 96,000 miles. A Car and Driver review in 2003 said "It's the most potent Benz ever offered in North America, according to the manufacturer, and also the quickest factory Benz we've ever tested: 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds, 0 to 100 in 10.9, the quarter-mile in 13 seconds flat at 110 mph". I do not recommend testing this hypothesis and I never have. The minor odometer discrepancy, mentioned in the report, happened before I owned the car, and was a surprise to me. There are two discrepancies, both associated with warranty reporting by a dealer. The total miles involved is about 7,000. The car-fax people suggested this was probably human error in reading the odometer, since the car must be turned on and the digital odometer is difficult to read. And why would anyone change the odometer just 7000 miles? Anyway, I believe the actual odometer reading is accurate, but I can not prove this. If you are seriously interested, please email me and we can discuss this further. I will respond quickly. Please, no low ball offers. I expect a downpayment of $1,000 through paypal, the balance to be paid in 7 days. I accept cashier's checks on US banks, personal checks which must clear, and/or cash. Thanks for looking at my car. |

Aston Martin and Daimler continue talks on SUV project, CEO required
Tue, 01 Apr 2014The Aston Martin Lagonda SUV concept revealed at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show didn't earn the plaudits the company is used to when it reveals new models, and it has lived an uncertain life ever since. Thought to have been scrapped along with the entire revival of the Lagonda brand, then thought to have been resurrected due to Chinese, Middle Eastern and Russian demand, another year passed before we heard more definitive talk about an Aston Martin expansion when AutoCar reported that the Lagonda could be built on one of Mercedes-Benz's AMG SUV platforms.
A report in Automotive News Europe indicates plans have gotten serious, its unnamed sources saying that the English carmaker is talking to Daimler "to extend their cooperation to building an SUV." Neither Daimler, Aston Martin nor Investindustrial, the managing partner among Aston Martin's ownership consortium, would comment. But with Investindustrial having pledged to expand the range, competitors like Bentley, Maserati and Lamborghini getting into the SUV racket and clear demand from current and future customers, it's easy to believe Aston Martin is working hard to put the pieces together.
One further potential bump on the road to an Aston SUV is the company's search for a new CEO. Ulrich Bez relinquished to top spot at the company at the end of 2013, and Aston reportedly will not finalize its model strategy without a new CEO in place.
The BMW M8 leads this month's list of discounts
Mon, Sep 21 2020Back in June of this year, the BMW 8 Series was the most heavily discounted vehicle in America. This month, it's the 617-horsepower M8. Midsummer buyers of the 2020 BMW M8, which is offered in hardtop, convertible and four-door Gran Coupe bodystyles, were seeing an average of $6,150 cut off the sticker; this month that figure has ballooned all the way to $16,864. That's more than 11% off the car's $150,000-plus retail price, and, according to data provided by TrueCar, it's the largest dollar amount sliced off the retail price of any car for the month of September. Next is the Maserati Quattroporte, buyers of which are saving $15,912 for an average transaction price of $99,763. If that's still too expensive, the smaller Ghibli's $70,030 average transaction price represents a huge 14.5% discount, earning the Italian sedan entry into our monthly top 10 best deals list. The third largest monetary discount in September comes off the $131,066 sticker price of the lovely 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT. Take $15,473 off that sum for an average transaction price of $115,593. XCAR marks 20-year anniversary of Senna's passing with Mercedes 190E Cosworth
Thu, 01 May 2014While the automotive world is focusing on the twentieth anniversary of Ayrton Senna's death, there was much, much more to the legendary driver than his untimely passing at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.
XCAR has the story of a younger Senna, who, by a stroke of luck, found himself matched up against a veritable dream team of nine Formula One champions, not to mention a cadre of German touring car aces. A "probably still pissed (drunk)" James Hunt, hard-driving Niki Lauda and future champion and rival Alain Prost, were in attendance for the one-off, spec race, which was put on by Mercedes-Benz, in honor of the opening of the Nürburgring's Grand Prix circuit. And Senna was on hand with the explicit goal of besting them all.
Each driver was handed a lightly modified, but brand-new 190E 2.3-16 Cosworth, a car that can best be though of as the distant ancestor of the lovable C63 AMG. As for the race itself, well, it was sort of like an introduction of what the sport could come to expect from the Brazilian.
