appraisal done 10/6/14. appraised at 69,800! steal it here for 49,500! pics included of appraisal. ** price just dropped from 59k for quick sale!! You could not dream of building this car for that price and won't get a chance to buy an SL55 this nice for this price either! This is in the selling price range of a normal widebodied SL500, step up and get the huge extra power and options that come with the AMG! I have taken the car to a few shows over the past few weeks and it always draws a crowd. no matter what is parked by it!! thumbs up, waves, and whenever the car is stopped be prepared to be admired and swamped with compliments. i have had many cool cars but this one gets the most attention and is probably the most well rounded car that money can buy! hard top convertible is the only way to roll. the car has hydraulic suspension that constantly adjusts to road conditions with 3 ride height positions available at the touch of a button and also a sport and comfort mode. the car can be whatever you want it to be. a comfortable cruiser, or an absolute animal!! being drop dead gorgeous is just a great side benefit to the cars performance! I painted the car Voodoo blue and is very rare to see on this car, if there even is another one at all! Car has many aftermarket and handmade parts. Car has been completely inspected by myself and is in no need of any repairs. Body was painstakingly installed and finished to such a level that nearly everyone who sees it can't believe it didn't come from the factory that way. Car has only 1000 miles on it since body and paint, and only 1200 miles since all motor work done. I also have most all of the stock parts removed from car that will go with it. Car also has the panoramic roof option. list of engine mods- 180mm lower crank pulley- 1700 with tune smaller upper pulley- 500 82mm throttle body- 500 pcv oil separator tank- 100 belt wrap kit (to help eliminate supercharger belt slippage)- 550 550cc injectors- 700 custom made rear intake tubes- 150 k&n filters- 100 aux heat exchanger for intercooler water 250 larger intercooler water pump wired constant on- 200 6 gallon trunk ice/water tank- 200 aem progressive methanol injection- 500 custom made long tube headers- 2500 custom made exhaust utilizing only the AMG resonators and handemade tips (sounds simply wicked!! quite at idle and cruise, but exotic and down right angry when getting into it!)- 2000 eurocharged recalibrated trans computer (slr specs)- 600 custom tune by jerry at eurocharged, tune was purchased before they cut off free future tunes (included in pulley cost) asp billet pullies- 300 new belts black painted supercharger and engine covers/air intakes heat wrapped intake tubes- 100 looped fuel rails- 500 engine oil and trans fluids with less than 200 miles. new fuel filter also dual digital aem widebands with boost also and failsafe (failsafe not currently hooked up but easy to do)- 545 aux gauge readout plugged into diagnostic port that can read out all ecu parameters in real time. displays 4 at a time user defined- 150 11,445 zero labor included in that total. parts only and I am sure some I left out. wheels- avd05.1 in 19x10 and 20x14 sizes tires- toyo t1r 275/30 and 345/25 only 400 miles on tires 7000 wheels, 1800 tires interior is basically all stock minus gauges, and a custom made 7" tablet holder. i used the tablet for internet and audio. car has factory navigation. seats are heated, cooled, and massage. interior is in exceptional condition with everything working. 200 tablet holder exterior- misha designs widebody kit with many subtle modifications to original kit. hid headlights are brand new and painted black inside with custom leds installed with led controller that can strobe, heart beat, and lots of other functions. high beams also have projector lenses to match low beams and white led front parking light bulbs. custom made front and side splitters to protect front and side of car from underbody scrapes with also obvious aero advantages also. custom made led fog lights installed in front splitter also many hours was spent to make this one of the best fitting kits out there! time after time everyone thinks it is factory sheetmetal. kit, headlights, headlight harness, headlight brackets, grill, headlight custom parts, paint supplies- 12,575 parts totals- engine- 11,445 wheels- 8,800 body- 12,575 fluff- 3000 (misc wires, fasteners, raw materials, fittings, working materials) 35,820 this is PARTS only approx. 700 man hours @ a very low 50hr= 35,000 70,820 and you still need a car. good condition car with equal miles (my interior is nearly flawless and clean underneath) lets say 24k equal condition. 94,820 investment for someone to copy this car. you may be able to find some parts cheaper, you might be able to do some things yourself, but if you just handed it over to a shop, this is your number. now if we take a 50 cents on the dollar rule for mods (absurd considering the car is in new built condition with hardly any miles on it, but I will play along) you get 35,410. now add that to your base car= 59,410 my asking price is 10,000 lower than that and 20,000 lower than the appraisal a month ago. hopefully this sheds some light on the car and the fact my number is spot on and even low all things considered. no low ball offers as i am just as good to keep it, but if a deal can be worked out, you will be receiving a helluva lot of car for the money! the full build of the car and all parts used and time involved is located here- overZealous1's build thread

2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600 First Drive

Mon, Jan 19 2015

Imagine the audacity: during the salad days of the early 2000s, the company that invented the automobile – already synonymous with class-leading luxury – sought to further expand its portfolio by crashing the ultraluxury party. Going up against the likes of Rolls-Royce and Bentley, Mercedes-Benz traded its unmistakable Three-Pointed Star for a Mighty Mouse-like logo, exhuming a stately, long-dead German marque originally founded in 1909. The long-wheelbase Maybach 62 listed at an epic $360,000, while later spinoffs included curiosities like the nearly $700,000 Zeppelin, and a roofless, seven-figure limousine dubbed Laundaulet. By the time the financial bubble finally burst in 2008, the brand's fate was all but sealed, with US sales dropping into the double digits. It limped along another four years, but when the nameplate finally went kerplunk, it left behind it a trail of disappointed movers, shakers, moguls and rappers. The perfect postmodern metaphor for the brand's funeral pyre? Kanye West and Jay-Z's Otis music video, in which a perfectly fine Maybach is chopped and deconstructed, flames spewing out the tailpipes as it powerslides through an empty parking lot. Meet The (Sorta) New Boss Rising from the ashes of hubris is the 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600, a recalibrated stab at high-end luxury with a startlingly similar, yet different, approach to its forbear. Like the last go, the new sled features a significantly longer wheelbase, which stretches 8.1 inches over the standard S600. Additional sound damping helps it claim the quietest rear cabin in all of production automobiledom, and posher trim bits include a rim of wood surrounding the reclining rear seats. Among the livery-focused special features is a rearview mirror-mounted microphone to amplify the driver's voice, an available rear fridge, and an executive seat package with folding tray tables. The super high-end hallmarks are there – a twin-turbo V12 dispatching sub-5 second 0 to 60 times, a stunning 24 speaker Burmester sound system, double-M branded silver plate champagne flutes, et al. – but the hyperinflated price tag is not. Starting at $189,350, roughly half the cost of the old flagship, the new Maybach isn't even the most expensive Mercedes-Benz you can buy. That distinction goes to the S65 AMG Coupe, which empties your coffers to the tune of $230,900.

Which electric cars can charge at a Tesla Supercharger?

Sun, Jul 9 2023

The difference between Tesla charging and non-Tesla charging. Electrify America; Tesla Tesla's advantage has long been its charging technology and Supercharger network. Now, more and more automakers are switching to Tesla's charging tech. But there are a few things non-Tesla drivers need to know about charging at a Tesla station. A lot has hit the news cycle in recent months with regard to electric car drivers and where they can and can't plug in. The key factor in all of that? Whether automakers switched to Tesla's charging standard. More car companies are shifting to Tesla's charging tech in the hopes of boosting their customers' confidence in going electric.  Here's what it boils down to: If you currently drive a Tesla, you can keep charging at Tesla charging locations, which use the company's North American Charging Standard (NACS), which has long served it well. The chargers are thinner, more lightweight and easier to wrangle than other brands.  If you currently drive a non-Tesla EV, you have to charge at a non-Tesla charging station like that of Electrify America or EVgo — which use the Combined Charging System (CCS) — unless you stumble upon a Tesla charger already equipped with the Magic Dock adapter. For years, CCS tech dominated EVs from everyone but Tesla.  Starting next year, if you drive a non-Tesla EV (from the automakers that have announced they'll make the switch), you'll be able to charge at all Supercharger locations with an adapter. And by 2025, EVs from some automakers won't even need an adaptor.  Here's how to charge up, depending on which EV you have:  Ford 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Tim Levin/Insider Ford was the earliest traditional automaker to team up with Tesla for its charging tech. Current Ford EV owners — those driving a Ford electric vehicle already fitted with a CCS port — will be able to use a Tesla-developed adapter to access Tesla Superchargers starting in the spring. That means that, if you own a Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning, you will need the adapter in order to use a Tesla station come 2024. But Ford will equip its future EVs with the NACS port starting in 2025 — eliminating the need for any adapter. Owners of new Ford EVs will be able to pull into a Supercharger station and juice up, no problem. General Motors Cadillac Lyriq. Cadillac GM will also allow its EV drivers to plug into Tesla stations.

Consumer Reports selling its road-tested roadsters [w/video]

Thu, 31 Jan 2013

Here's a chance to acquire a celebrity-owned vehicles, and this time at a discount instead of a premium. So the celebrity in this case is Consumer Reports, that magazine that could be equally adored and abhored by car enthusiasts. CR buys all of its test vehicles and usually finds willing second owners within its own ranks, but its opening its small used-car lot to the public. On the forecourt are four roadsters: an automatic 2012 Audi TT 2.0 TFSI Quattro S-Tronic with 6,600 miles for $36,500, a manual 2012 BMW Z4 sDrive28i with 8,400 miles for $45,000, a manual 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK250 for $39,500 and a manual 2013 Porsche Boxster with 7,000 miles for $48,000.
Those numbers mean a savings of $9,000 to $10,000 before haggling - each car is listed with an "Asking price" so there could be some wiggle room if you show up with pockets full of dough and eyes full of serious intent. Since the money CR earns from the sales go back into the magazine's budget to buy more test cars, however, it probably won't take any oddball trades, so you can forget about getting any purchasing help from that track-day AMC Javelin project on blocks in the back yard.
The vehicles have been taken care of and spiffed up for sale; buyers will take delivery at the CR test track in East Haddam, Connecticut and get a tour of the facilities. While you're there they'll even take you on a lap around the track so you can feel how your car handles when driven by one of its testers. They will probably not help you with advice on which toaster and dehumidifier to buy - you'll still need to get a subscription for that. Have a look at the video below to see a day in the life of a CR test car.
