Please read BEFORE bidding:
Due to 3, YES 3, "winning" bidders NOT paying for this car and 2 other cars I sold on here in the last month, I now REQUIRE a $500 non-refundable deposit via paypal immediately following the auction's end. I'm sorry about this, but I have had to re-list this car and 2 others, which not only costs MORE money, but WASTES more time. It's become a joke, but not in a funny way! If you don't understand that you are BUYING a car online, and this is not a "game" but rather an auction that you CHOSE to participate in, then PLEASE DO NOT BID!!! If you have less than 10 feedback, you MUST contact me prior to bidding or I will cancel your bid. I don't want any excuses about how you're "out of the Country on business" or "you are just so busy at work you can't get away to pick it up".... that's pure BS! If you win the car, you have committed to BUY IT. Understand??? Make sure your cash is liquid and available BEFORE bidding. If you win, you have 3 business days to pay me in full. NO exceptions. I prefer bank wire or verifiable cashiers check (car will not leave until check CLEARS bank which can take UP TO 21 days (cleared funds, not just showing "funds available" at my bank...that is a courtesy the FED requires banks to do within so many days of depositing a check, but that doesn't guarantee funds are good. Scammers know this...my father-in-law was scammed twice in a week but luckily didn't fall for it...nor will I), )...Again, wire is preferred. Of course if you pick the car up in person, cash is always accepted. You can arrange to have the car picked up at a later date, but it MUST be paid for by the Wednesday afternoon after the auction ends. PERIOD. If you cannot comply with what you have just read, then PLEASE do not bid. Thank You to those of you that do understand the "apparently difficult concept" of eBay...you bid...you win...you pay. It's a pretty simple concept, but 3 different people out of 4 auctions I had in the last month didn't understand that concept and have wasted my time, my money, and I'm over it. Now, lets get on to the fun stuff...my beautiful car: You're looking at my 1989 Mercedes Benz 560 SL, the flagship for Mercedes and a true icon of a car. This is the last year for the classic styling, and quite collectible. This car is still wearing it's original and rare black paint and it looks amazing to this day. The car has always been garaged and it shows both inside and out. The paint is super shiny and deep (see reflection photo...amazing for 24 year old paint!). Southern car...no rust. The car is built like a tank and the doors close with a solid heavy thunk. The exterior of the car looks great with only a few minor dings in a few spots (common on any car that's this old, and especially on a black car). They do not detract from the beauty of this class automobile though, and barely show up in the pics. Carfax shows a minor accident in 2002. I did not own the car back then. I cannot see any evidence of this, and the paintwork matches beautifully if indeed it was repaired. There is no evidence or overspray to suggest that the car was repainted, but I am not a professional. There is no rust and again, I'm assuming if there was an accident that it was minor. The black leather interior (not the cheaper MB Tex) is still in nice shape. The drivers seat has a little wear on the outer bolster from getting in and out, and a small cut on the seat bottom. Both easily repaired by any trim shop if they bother you, and at not a great cost. Carpets are in good condition. The wood trim as in most of these older SL's is cracking in a few places (center console, above glove box) but readily available and easy to replace. The dash pad itself looks amazing with no cracking at all...a rare sight. The black cloth soft top is in useable condition, but it is showing it's age and should be replaced down the road. It has some wear and tear, but again is still useable. Hardtop is nice with no major weird stains on the inner headliner. A hardtop stand on wheels is also included in the sale, used to safely store the hardtop when it's not on the vehicle. All mechanical systems are in fine working order. Engine runs well. Brakes and tires are good. A/C blows cold. Power windows and locks work as they should. Has it's original Becker stereo/cassette player and factory First Aid Kit in the trunk. The speedometer works fine but the odometer quite working a little while back. Not many miles have been put on the car since it broke, but it will be sold with an "exempt" title due to it's age. The car has always been maintained and garaged, and is in fine condition as you can see in the pictures. The car needs nothing but to be enjoyed by it's new owners. All books and both sets of keys come with the car. I am a private collector who has been asked by my wife to "thin the herd". I had 15 exotics and muscle/collector cars...am down to 11...and she wants me down to 6. So, this one must go to new home. I have it stored in my buddies garage because we just detailed it and I only have room to park it outside and exposed to the elements at my house (yet ANOTHER reason why my wife wants me to sell a lot of my cars)...I took these pics in his yard before we put it away in his garage. Free and clear title, in my name, in my possession. All sales are final, so ask any and all questions before bidding. Please make sure you have your finances ready before bidding, as full payment is required within 5 business days from the end of the auction. If you don't understand that, please do not bid. Make sure you have permission from your spouse, boss, priest, whomever BEFORE bidding. I do not have time for games and BS. This is a nice car that won't break the bank to own. I'm listing this with NO RESERVE...last bid wins! Bid high and bid often. Thanks for looking and good luck! |

Daimler CEO Zetsche answers 'Most likely' to question of a Maybach SUV
Fri, Jan 16 2015When Dieter Zetsche was asked about the possibility of getting Maybach, the reimagined Mercedes-Benz ultra-luxury sub-brand, into the premium SUV game, the Daimler CEO reportedly told Auto Express, "Most likely." Those two little words aren't a firm answer – let alone an indication of timing – but we wouldn't be shocked to find out Mercedes is already working on one. Range Rover has gone even more upscale, the Bentley Bentayga is coming this year, as will the Maserati Levante. Rolls-Royce is deciding on an SUV this year (we think it's only a matter of time before they say "yes"), the Lamborghini Urus is still expected in 2018, Aston Martin is raising funds to build a crossover, and there have been rumors of a BMW X7 and Audi Q9 for years. Point being, everyone is busy writing their own invite to this ultra posh party. The latest comments would appear to put to rest any will-they/won't-they questions around a high-riding Maybach offering. There were rumors last summer that a GL-Class SUV (a model range shortly to be known as GLS-Class) with revamped styling and lots of luxury touches would join the top-tier sub-brand, but then in November, Mercedes' global head of sales and marketing told Automotive News, "I don't want to categorically rule anything out, but at this stage we have no plans for it [a Maybach SUV]." If and when a Maybach utility does become official, we'll only be picking up where we left off with the brand's previous incarnation: a GL-based Maybach was rumored way back in 2007. Veneno Roadster, One:1, One-77, LaFerrari, P1, Veyron headline 25-car Bonham's auction
Mon, Jun 24 2019Bonhams is holding a no-reserve auction in fall 2019 that includes some of the most valuable and sought-after supercars of the past decade. The lot of 25 beautiful collector items includes a Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, a Koenigsegg One:1, an Aston Martin One-77, a Ferrari LaFerrari, a McLaren P1, and a Bugatti Veyron. The collection, which was seized from a corrupt politician from Equatorial Guinea, is valued at roughly $13 million. If selling off future classics that are still in their infancy as collector items seems strange, it's because this is not a straightforward situation. These cars will be sold off by the State of Geneva, not a person. The collection was previously owned by the vice president of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang, but the cars were seized when he was placed under investigation for money laundering and unfair management of public interests. These 25 cars, which were located in Geneva, were first sequestered in fall 2016. A trial court ordered them sold off, and the money earned from the sales would be invested in social programs that benefit Equatorial Guinea. And so, Equatorial Guinea is about to see an influx of cash, as every vehicle is valued in the hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars. The rarest might be the Koenigsegg One:1. One of only six remaining, it has 371 miles on the dial, and is valued at roughly $1.8 million. The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, one of nine in the world, is a close second. It has 202 miles logged, and is valued at about $5.1 million. The Aston Martin One-77 is another rare bird. It is example No. 35 of 77, holds a 7.3-liter V12 engine, and is valued at about $1.4 million. A McLaren P1, Ferrari LaFerrari, and Bugatti Veyron 16.4 round out the top of the list. The remaining cars are not fully detailed, but they include examples from Mercedes-Maybach, Bentley, Maserati and Porsche. The auction will take place on Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Bonmont Golf & Country Club near Lake Geneva. For more photos and information, visit Bonhams.
Autoblog's guilty pleasure cars
Tue, Mar 10 2015Guilty pleasures are part of life – don't even try to pretend like you don't have one (or two, or six). In the non-automotive space, this could come down to that secret playlist in your iPhone of songs you'll only listen to when you're alone; or think of that one TV show you really do love, but won't admit to your friends. I've got plenty, and so do you. Going back to cars, here's a particularly juicy one for me: several years ago, I had a mad crush on the very last iteration of the Cadillac DTS. Oh yes, the front-wheel-drive, Northstar V8-powered sofa-on-wheels that was the last remaining shred of the elderly-swooning days of Cadillac's past. Every time I had the chance to drive one, I was secretly giddy. Don't hate me, okay? These days, the DTS is gone, but I've still got a mess of other cars that hold a special place in my heart. And in the spirit of camaraderie, I've asked my other Autoblog editors to tell me some of their guilty pleasure cars, as well – Seyth Miersma, as you can see above, has a few choice emotions to share about the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Read on to find out what cars make us secretly happy. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG This decadent convertible is the epitome of the guilty pleasure. It's big, powerful, fairly heavy and it's richly appointed inside and out. It's a chocolate eclair with the three-pointed star on the hood. Given my druthers, I'd take the SL65 AMG, which delivers 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. That output is borderline absurd for this laid-back convertible. I don't care. You don't need dessert. Sometimes you just crave it. The SL line is about the feel you get on the road. The roof is open. The air, sun and engine sounds all embrace you. It's the same dynamic you could have experienced in a Mercedes a century ago, yet the SL gives you the most modern of luxuries. An Airscarf feature that warms my neck and shoulders through a vent embedded in the seat? Yes, please. Sure, it's an old-guy car. Mr. Burns and Lord Grantham are probably too young and hip for an SL65. I don't care. This is my guilty pleasure. Release the hounds. – Greg Migliore Senior Editor Ford Flex I drove my first Flex in 2009 when my mother let me borrow hers for the summer while I was away at college. The incredibly spacious interior made moving twice that summer a breeze, and the 200-mile trips up north were quite comfortable.
