1986 Mercedes Benz 560sl Convertible V8 on 2040-cars
Sugar Land, Texas, United States
For sale is a 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL Roadster with 56k original miles. It is silver/grey paint with a matching removable hard top and a black soft top. This car is in excellent condition, especially considering that it is all original except for the radio head unit, which has been updated. The car runs and drives great and starts up perfectly every time. It has worked well as a daily driver for the last year and will continue to be reliable.
Some features include: Power windows Power brakes Power steering Power brakes Power antenna Leather seats Leather steering wheel Both hard and soft top Hard top wheeled stand and cover Removable rear seat Alloy wheels Clock Outside thermometer Fog lights Recent updates: New rear brakes New shocks New fuel distributor New fuel injectors New A/C system (including climate control unit) Transmission tune up Although the car is in excellent overall condition, there are a few imperfections which are relatively minor and detailed in the photos. The paint on the wheels is starting to peel from the aluminum. There is a tear along a seam of the passenger seat. There are some paint chips on the top of the car, near the trunk hinge. There is also one small crack in the dashboard. I purchased the car about a year ago at an auction for classic cars and it has been used as a daily driver since then. An AutoCheck report indicates that there were three previous owners. I've had a lot of fun in it, but I'm selling the car to replace it with a more fuel efficient vehicle. I'm constantly getting compliments from strangers who admire the car, and it always wins an award when I take it to car shows. It is evident by the cleanliness of the engine bay and the undercarriage that this car has lived an easy life and has been meticulously maintained. It performs and handles beautifully. As far as I know, this car has never been in an accident (there is no evidence of an accident). The sheet metal and frame are straight and rust free. The car is available for inspection by appointment. I have stated the condition of the car to the best of my ability but the vehicle is sold as is with no express or implied warranties or representations having been made by the seller to the buyer. Please feel free to e-mail me through eBay with any questions. I will not release the car until all payments have cleared. Buyer is responsible for shipping. |

Mercedes-Benz to build new ML coupe-crossover in Alabama in 2015
Fri, 05 Sep 2014Mercedes-Benz will expand its factory in Tuscaloosa, AL, to build the ML Coupe, a new crossover that will join its lineup in 2015. Mercedes will also ramp up production to build facelifted versions of the M-Class and GL-Class SUVs, lifting the factory's total production capacity to about 300,000 units annually in 2015. It made 185,000 vehicles in 2013. In addition to SUVs, the Tuscaloosa site also makes the C-Class sedan.
The plans come as part of Mercedes' strategy to capitalize on Americans' increasing demands for SUVs. The company said the SUV market was up 12 percent in first half of 2014, and expects it to grow at twice the rate of the regular market in 2015 and 2016.

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton buys LaFerrari
Tue, Mar 24 2015Lewis Hamilton has driven some of the fastest cars ever devised, like the McLaren MP4-23 with which he won the 2008 Formula One World Championship, the Mercedes W05 with which he won the title last year, and the new W06 he drove to the checkered flag in the season opener earlier this month. But what does he drive in his spare time? According to the latest reports quoting his boss Toto Wolff, the reigning champ celebrated his win at the Australian Grand Prix by ordering a new LaFerrari. The seven-figure, 950-horsepower hybrid hypercar may be made by a rival manufacturer to the team for which he drives, but then his employers at Mercedes don't (for the time being at least) build anything that competes in the segment – unlike his former employers at McLaren that offer the similarly potent P1. Something tells us he won't be invited to drive it at Fiorano, though - which is something his rivals Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel have all had the chance to do. Hamilton has a long-established penchant for driving twelve-cylinder exotic supercars in his spare time. At his previous place of work, he was promised an exceedingly rare McLaren F1 LM – valued at some $4 million – but only if he won three world titles for the Woking-based team. He also owns a Pagani Zonda that was made specifically for him with a 760-horsepower engine (supplied, naturally, by Mercedes) and a six-speed manual – complete with a clutch pedal, which (apart from starting off the line) is something he doesn't usually get to operate during working hours. Daimler employees can set email to auto-delete during vacation
Mon, 18 Aug 2014The Internet has shrunk the world in terms of the way people communicate by making it possible to send an email from Oslo and have it show up in Cleveland almost immediately. But that instant contact has wrecked the work/life balance for many. They get home from a long day at the office, yet they can never fully put their feet up and relax because another hour or more of checking and replying to emails awaits. However, German automotive giant Daimler is putting an end to that churn, at least while its employees are on vacation.
About 100,000 Daimler employees in Germany are eligible to opt-in to a new program called Mail on Holiday, according to The Atlantic. When the workers go on vacation, they can switch it on, and the service auto-deletes all of their incoming email. "Our employees should relax on holiday and not read work-related emails," said Wilfried Porth, board member for human resources, to The Financial Times as cited by The Atlantic.
Mail on Holiday puts a thumb on the scale of work/life balance in favor of a little more free time. The system means that Daimler employees shouldn't even be tempted to check their email on vacation because there's nothing there - and it also avoids them coming back from a relaxing holiday only to find a mailbox packed full of hundreds of unread messages. These days, people are absolutely obsessed with their work, often to the detriment of their health, not to mention spending time with their families and friends. On one hand, Mail on Holiday sounds like the sort of vacation breakthrough we'd need to truly unplug and unwind, but on the other hand, it makes our skin crawl just thinking about the lack of communication.
