THIS IS A NO RESERVE LISTING.

This is my 1975 Mercedes-Benz 450SL roadster convertible in great condition.  This is a totally reliable, dependable vintage Mercedes that you can use and enjoy exactly the way it is.  I'd trust this car to drive anywhere.

This car was owned by an older couple, and it has always been garaged, and has not been exposed to salt or snow.

This car has the following equipment and options:

  • 4.5L fuel-injected V8 engine
  • automatic transmission
  • removable hard top with heated rear window
  • folding cloth soft top
  • factory air conditioning
  • power windows
  • cruise control
  • power locks
  • leather seats (not vinyl)
  • Blaupunkt radio

This car also comes with the full set of books and manuals, three keys, extra floormats, a tool kit, etc.

This car runs and drives beautifully.  The V8 engine is powerful, making this a truly FAST car- it will surprise you how powerful the acceleration is!  The transmission, brakes, suspension, steering, etc are working well and the car has no known mechanical problems. There are no noted fluid leaks, nor any warning lights illuminated, and all the gauges work properly.

This is the kind of classic car that you can enjoy just the way it is.  The car doesn't need to be rebuilt, restored, nor is it any kind of project car- this car is ready to use and enjoy.

These cars were built with motors and transmissions designed for the big luxury sedans that weighed 1000 pounds more than this convertible.  Consequently, in addition to having great acceleration, these cars are also amazingly durable and long-lasting.  I have seen these SL models with over 300,000 miles that were still running and driving perfectly.  This car was built in the era of "bulletproof" Mercedes-Benz cars, and as the most expensive car in the lineup, it is also among the most durable cars ever built by any manufacturer.

This is a great "driver" SL- this is not a garage queen in showroom condition, but rather a clean and well-kept example that you can drive without worries.  You won't be afraid to park it at the grocery store- rather you'll think of any excuse to take this car for a drive anywhere.  This car is BLAST to drive!

The interior is original, and in very good condition.  The seats are genuine leather hides, not vinyl as is more commonly found.  The leather is in very respectable condition for being 38 years old- it looks nice.  The carpets are very good and the plastics and upholstery are very good.  The seat stuffing material is made of horsehair on these cars, and it tends to deteriorate over time.  The seats have a little less stuffing in them than they originally did, but they are still comfortable.  Included with the car is a set of genuine sheepskin fitted seat covers that are superbly comfortable, as well as being cool in hot weather and warm in cold weather.

The removable hard top is body color with glass windows.  The folding soft top is in excellent condition- it was replaced a few years back and has seen no significant wear since then.

The paint and body look good for the age.  This car looks straight, clean and solid.  The paint is of good quality and it shines nicely and the exterior of the car looks clean and quite presentable. This car looks great for a 38-year old unrestored classic car. The chrome and plastic trim are in good condition as well.

The undercarriage is clean and nice and the trunk is solid, clean and excellent. The floors are totally solid.

The tires are older but hold air perfectly and have good tread.

This car is 38 years old and as such it is not brand new. Please expect normal issues of wear and tear and imperfections consistent with the age of the car. Here is a list of known defects and imperfections-  there are minor and typical nicks, chips, and small imperfections here and there in the body and paint. There is a crack in the windshield on the far passenger side. The tires are older, and could also stand to be balanced.  The car has just a few tiny spots of bubbling and extremely minor rust- the worst part of the entire car is two spots on the driver's door about an inch long and 1/8" wide of rust behind the door molding.  I have included a photo of this- this is the worst part of the whole car- otherwise the car is totally solid, clean and I'd say 98% rust free.  As mentioned, the seats have minor normal wear for the age.

This is a clean, dependable and beautiful looking classic Mercedes roadster.

You can fly in to Cleveland (CLE) and drive this car home.  Alternatively, you can have the car shipped- please call Angels Moving Autos at 530 245 0481 for a shipping quote.

Singer Porsche, Koenigsegg, NSX: Leno's life doesn't suck

Tue, Oct 6 2015

Jay Leno had quite a productive trip this year during Monterey Car Week. Not only did he get to pal around with Ian Callum and check out the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, but the denim-clad comedian also headed to The Quail to talk to some prominent figures in the modern sports car scene. Capping off the fun, he got to take a drive in a Mercedes-AMG GT S, too Perhaps the highlight of this show is a nearly 10-minute interview with Christian von Koenigsegg. The founder of the Swedish hypercar company digs deep into the Agera One:1's engineering details, relating interesting facts about the aerodynamics and transmission. In addition, Leno chats with Rob Dickenson of Singer about its newly reimagined Porsche 911 Targa, and he gets the latest scoop on the Acura NSX's progress from newly promoted Acura Vice President and General Manager Jon Ikeda. If you like hearing about the nuts and bolts of sports car development, then this video can't be missed. Of course, we were there at Monterey, too, and we pointed our own cameras at some of the amazing machinery, both vintage and modern, at all the various car-focused events of the week. Take a look back at some of our own cool footage in the videos below. Related Video:

Mercedes Concept GLA45 AMG is ready to run

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

This is the Mercedes-Benz Concept GLA45 AMG, and what we mean by that is, "This is the Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG." Mercedes has just unveiled the liveried 'concept' at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, giving potential customers a very good look at the newest lunatic in the AMG asylum - a 355-horsepower, 332-pound-foot crossover that uses the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the CLA45 AMG and Europe's A45 AMG.
Joined with a seven-speed, AMG Speedshift dual-clutch transmission and an AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, Mercedes promises a sub-five-second run to 60 miles per hour. That's not just quick for a crossover, that's quick full stop.
That sleek, lifted body has also been tweaked by the minds at AMG's Affalterbach facility. A new rear spoiler, side sills and front clip are the primary aerodynamic tweaks. Aesthetically, AMG has fitted the requisite "Turbo" badges, gloss-black accents (including exhaust tips and roof rails) and a set of 21-inch, AMG-spec alloy wheels to round out the overall package. Based on the spy shots we've seen, expect slightly toned down aerodynamics when the GLA45 AMG arrives in showrooms.

Mercedes dealers authorized to spend $2,500 on perks for S-Class customers

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

If you drop $100,000 on a luxury sedan, it seems only reasonable to receive some preferential treatment at the dealership you purchased from. After all, that price isn't just for the car - you're paying for the brand and all the cachet that entails. For Mercedes-Benz, those benefits have apparently been lacking relative to the German brand's luxury competitors.
That's set to change, though, as Automotive News reports that the German brand is placing a much greater emphasis on keeping its customers happy and loyal with its MB Select program. Starting with the new S-Class and spreading to the CLA-Class (and eventually beyond), dealers are being given money - up to $2,500 in the case of the flagship sedan - just to improve the customer experience.
We agree, improving the "customer experience" is quite a vague term, so it's nice that Mercedes USA's CEO, Steve Cannon, offered up some examples to AN at the LA Auto Show. For example, a customer couldn't fit his sunglasses into the overhead compartment. "So we bought him a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses that fit because of their shape," Cannon said.
