This is a 1975 Mercedes Benz 450SLC, it is silver in color with 29,194, I am not sure of the accuracy of the mileage but, I originally purchased said car in West Palm beach fl and did notice a: functioning speedometer, odometer and mileage did differ once I reached Miami Fl, there was a 53 miles difference at the clock. It was during this initial drive that I notice when accelerating to 60mph..., a loud back fire can be heard at rear exhaust which was later to be diagnosed as a faulty computer for fuel injection (brain 0-280-002-003), the suspension felt very tight during this drive, I notice a hard pull to the right (1 bad sway bar linkage was seen once parked at home) when brake was applied..I want to be upfront about this vehicle as it was mainly used for Sunday drive and garage parked for a good portion of her life by previous owner(s)... She needs a loving home & been painted before and whomever did the job "put their heart into it", the noticeable rust spots seems greater near the battery tray support and secondly would be near the jacking area of the car, I did notice the paint (see pic) bubbling on the rear lid. there are a few cracks on the dash. All of the 205-70-14 are in mint condition with the spikes? still there... Brakes and exhaust are intact!! I recently took out the Blaupunkt original radio & installed a Sony cd player which powers up and sound good, speaker upgrade maybe needed as they are presently the original(s). The seats were also done at some point and are not original, perhaps nicely done covers?. Power windows at the front are working while one of the rear maybe questionable.. The heater/ac blower is intermittent and presently took the fuse out.. She's been stationary for many months in my driveway. Vehicle is truly unique.Once I arrive home from the WPB drive, I went in on this car and change all plugs, wires, cap/rotors, ignition points, fuel pump/filter etc.., Once all the new parts were installed, the car fired right up & ran on all 8 cylinders for 5 minutes and she roared!!! I now went deeper into diagnostic mode by taking out the fuel injection trigger points to test and it checked fine.. This model is the one with electronic injectors, there are no fuel distributor at the top!. I went a little deeper with the diagnostics and it was then that I discovered the "no pulse" at four of the corner injectors.. I've spent time/money in said car over the months, if you appreciate these 107's and is an enthusiast.. "This is it", I want to see her go to a good home :-(, If you are the winning bidder and have a brain, best to bring it with you and hear her run in 8 cylinders but, for now she is hard to start and once started, she is stumbling on 4 cylinders.. I did a NAda/ kbb check on this and with the above mileage she is between $11-22k, I cannot give this away.. Please, do not waste my time nor yours.. I sale said vehicle in "as is" condition and can be reach at 954 696 2917 for more details. I have a clean Fl title in hand and am sure winning bidder will appreciate such rare & unique vehicle.

Hollywood stars drink hydrogen B-Class F-Cell emission water in Death Valley [UPDATE]

Tue, Feb 4 2014

A plug-in electric vehicle can be used to power a house during a winter storm, but if you're more worried about the heat of, say, Death Valley, then maybe you'll want a Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-Cell along. That's the message of a new video from Daimler and starring Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds) and Joshua Jackson (Fringe) that promotes the company's hydrogen-powered car. The gist? You can drink the tailpipe emissions. The two Hollywood stars drove in Death Vally without any water in their F-Cell but had a special tank hooked up to the tailpipe to collect the H2O drips as they drove in 100+ degree temperatures. There's a reason these two actors were chosen, since they've been driving an F-Cell in their daily lives for two years, according to the Diamler press release. The text is, shall we say, a bit hyperbolic - "Their lives rely on the emissions of the B-Class F-CELL" it says, totally ignoring the film crew that is obviously along for the ride and more than likely had a few bottles with them. Also, when the California Fuel Cell Partnership promoted the same idea a few years ago, it clarified that, "A fuel cell doesn't produce enough water to fill your glass. ... If fact, fuel cells produce about the same amount of water as gasoline vehicle – about 1/3 cup for a full day of driving." Thus, this whole thing is a Hollywood stunt, but it's a visually effective one. See for yourself in the mini-movie below. UPDATE: Daimler has told AutoblogGreen that there was no "extra Hollywood magic" needed for the water collected in the video. Instead, Madeleine Herdlitschka, who works at global communications for Mercedes-Benz Cars, said, "Considering the technical characteristics, the Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-CELL emits about 9 kg of water vapor per kg of hydrogen while driving. The vehicle has a hydrogen capacity of about 3.7 kg, what is sufficient for a max. of about 400 km of range. A tailor-made construction, designed by the production company Markenfilm Crossing in cooperation with our fuel cell experts, made it possible to collect the water in a tank - previously cooling the vapor with a specially designed pipe system." Pre-Race notes from the 2015 Nurburgring 24-Hours

Sat, May 16 2015

Autoblog has come to the German countryside to watch the Nurburgring 24-Hour race, and just one day in, we have to say it's outstanding. Le Mans has been the highlight of our summer racing schedule for the past few years, the 'Ring 24-Hour event being the appetizer we always skipped. Earlier this year, however, while visiting Miami to check out the Cigarette Racing 50 Marauder GT S, we met Scott Preacher. He oversees digital marketing for both Cigarette and AMG during the week, then comes to Germany to compete in the VLN race series on the weekends, driving an Aston Martin Vantage GT4 for Team Mathol. If Le Mans is the Oscars of endurance racing, the Nurburgring 24-Hour race is the Screen Actors Guild award – the one voted on by the actors, for the actors. In this case it's the race by the teams and fans, for the teams and fans, even though the increasing manufacturer presence has altered the team equation. We were told that it wasn't so long ago that true privateers could win the overall, but that's not really the case anymore. Front-running teams have heavy factory involvement – Audi Sport Team Phoenix, for instance, which finished in first and third last year, has its own 'Ring race center and is running the 2016 R8; Aston Martin is represented by Aston Martin Racing and Aston Martin Test Center, and Bentley has a Bentley Motors team and uses HPT to run another team. The fan component hasn't changed, though, and you can't talk about the race for more than 60 seconds before someone brings up the battalions of spectators. Every driver we spoke to cited them as the most incredible part of this race after the track itself. It feels to us like a giant German Sebring, with thousands of people camped out in the ginormous, forested infield, many of whom have been here since Monday erecting their ornate camping compounds. There will be parties everywhere Saturday night, and so much bratwurst on the grill that the drivers can smell it when as they're blasting full speed through Wehrseifen. Even when we drove a Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe on a lap before the race, the fans waved like it was a competition. Scott Preacher's Australian co-driver Robert Thompson said, "You come around a corner and it's like you're driving full speed through the middle of a carnival." The race field itself could also be called a carnival, with an officially invited field of more than 170 cars. Even on a track that's 24.4-km long, that's like racing on the 405 at midday.

Mercedes has already booked 30k orders for new S-Class

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

When Toyota snags 30,000 Corolla orders over a three-month span, it's entirely possible we're in the midst of a global economic collapse and that the end is nigh. That's because the scale for Toyota is so very large. Mercedes-Benz, on the other hand, operates on a much smaller scale, particularly when we talk about its higher-end models, like the S-Class.
In 2012, Mercedes sold 65,000 of its flagship sedans in Germany and the EU. That's 178 units per day, for 365 days. Based on that, you can imagine the excitement at Stuttgart when it accepted 30,000 orders for the new S-Class in just three months. That's an average of 333 per day on a continent with a notoriously shaky economy. Now, admittedly, this enthusiasm could wane as the refitted S-Class becomes more common and Mercedes achieves market saturation in Europe's many chauffeur and livery services, but Mercedes isn't choosing to look at it that way.
"The new S-Class has already jumped back into the lead in terms of new vehicle registrations in Germany and its neighboring European countries," Mercedes-Benz head of sales and marketing, Ola Kaellenius, said in a statement last week.
