This 1984 Mercedes Gelandewagen is a rare find. I had to put 1980 in the listing title because Ebay's system won't take the vin. It runs and drives very well. It was owned by the same family for the last twenty years or so, and has been well maintained and garaged. It still has its original paint and interior, and while not perfect, it still looks pretty good. There is some bubbling of the paint; mostly on the drivers front fender. The passenger side is very clean with only one small bubbled area. The chassis shows no cancer I have seen from underneath other than the pan that sits under the gas tank. The dual overhead cam straight six with fuel injection starts easily and runs excellent. The transmission shifts perfectly, and the steering and brakes feel very good. Here are some highlights:

Matched set of four like New Mastercraft 30 x 9.50 x 15 tires mounted on BBS aluminum wheels

Bilstein mono-tube shocks on all four corners

Weather-stripping, door, windshield, and side glass rubber all in amazing original condition

Original First Aid Kit included with factory sealed, complete bandages, scissors, ect. all labeled in German

Glass all in very nice condition with easy rolling door glass. Windshield does have two small chips, but no cracks.

Exhaust could be original, but it has no holes, and sounds good

Gauges, lights, four wheel drive, axle lockouts, blinkers, wipers, heater ect., have all been checked and work correctly.

The auxiliary gas heater has not been checked out, but the controls are all there.

The speedometer reads out in kilometers, 100 km is around 60 mph. The odometer does not work

Radio works, but needs knobs

Comes with original owners manual

I was going to paint this car Black, and have the wheels powder coated black, but time constraints have shifted my priorities, so someone is going to get a great rig to drive the way it is, or to restore and sell for a profit. You just can't go wrong with a G Wagon. I am including a video with close-ups of the paint bubbles, as well as a test drive. It will come with a clear, numbers matching Oregon State title in my name. It has current registration and is ready to be driven. I have described the car to the best of my ability, but it is a used car, and as such it will be sold "as-is" There is an inspection service E-bay has available thru a second party that can come look the car over, and I will be happy to show it to serious buyers. I will need a 500 dollar deposit by way of Paypal immediately following the auction, with the balance due in the form of cash, cashiers check, or bank transfer. Checks will need two weeks to clear. Attention California buyers; You may not be able to get this car registered due to the smog testing in your state. I may have overlooked something, but I will answer all questions or concerns in a timely manner. Good luck bidding, TJ

Mercedes Concept GLA45 AMG is ready to run

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

This is the Mercedes-Benz Concept GLA45 AMG, and what we mean by that is, "This is the Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG." Mercedes has just unveiled the liveried 'concept' at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, giving potential customers a very good look at the newest lunatic in the AMG asylum - a 355-horsepower, 332-pound-foot crossover that uses the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the CLA45 AMG and Europe's A45 AMG.
Joined with a seven-speed, AMG Speedshift dual-clutch transmission and an AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, Mercedes promises a sub-five-second run to 60 miles per hour. That's not just quick for a crossover, that's quick full stop.
That sleek, lifted body has also been tweaked by the minds at AMG's Affalterbach facility. A new rear spoiler, side sills and front clip are the primary aerodynamic tweaks. Aesthetically, AMG has fitted the requisite "Turbo" badges, gloss-black accents (including exhaust tips and roof rails) and a set of 21-inch, AMG-spec alloy wheels to round out the overall package. Based on the spy shots we've seen, expect slightly toned down aerodynamics when the GLA45 AMG arrives in showrooms.

Maybach could become Mercedes-Benz sub-brand

Wed, 22 Jun 2011

When you're arriving in a twin-turbocharged, twelve-cylinder Maybach limo, there's no reason you should ever have to be late. Except, maybe, to make a fashionable entrance. But up at the corporate level, the entire Maybach brand is being slowed down as critical decisions about its future are being undertaken.
Last week, we reported that a decision on what path Maybach would take going forward would be due at the start of next month, but the latest reports indicate that the timeframe has been extended as further options are being considered.
The previous options under consideration were twofold: either relaunch the brand with production outsourced to Aston Martin - which suddenly finds itself with excess production capacity - or shut it down completely. And those are still two very real options. Word has it that Aston has put together four concept cars for the Daimler brass to consider, all based on the next-generation S-Class platform (and thankfully not the old one).

Best car infotainment systems: From UConnect to MBUX, these are our favorites

Sun, Jan 7 2024

Declaring one infotainment system the best over any other is an inherently subjective matter. You can look at quantitative testing for things like input response time and various screen load times, but ask a room full of people that have tried all car infotainment systems what their favorite is, and you’re likely to get a lot of different responses. For the most part, the various infotainment systems available all share a similar purpose. They aim to help the driver get where they're going with navigation, play their favorite tunes via all sorts of media playback options and allow folks to stay connected with others via phone connectivity. Of course, most go way beyond the basics these days and offer features like streaming services, in-car performance data and much more. Unique features are aplenty when you start diving through menus, but how they go about their most important tasks vary widely. Some of our editors prefer systems that are exclusively touch-based and chock full of boundary-pushing features. Others may prefer a back-to-basics non-touch system that is navigable via a scroll wheel. You can compare it to the phone operating system wars. Just like some prefer Android phones over iPhones, we all have our own opinions for what makes up the best infotainment interface. All that said, our combined experience tells us that a number of infotainment systems are at least better than the rest. WeÂ’ve narrowed it down to five total systems in their own subcategories that stand out to us. Read on below to see our picks, and feel free to make your own arguments in the comments. Best infotainment overall: UConnect 5, various Stellantis products Ram 1500 Uconnect Infotainment System Review If thereÂ’s one infotainment system that all of us agree is excellent, itÂ’s UConnect. It has numerous qualities that make it great, but above all else, UConnect is simple and straightforward to use. Ease of operation is one of the most (if not the single most) vital parts of any infotainment system interface. If youÂ’re expected to be able to tap away on a touchscreen while driving and still pay attention to the road, a complex infotainment system is going to remove your attention from the number one task at hand: driving. UConnect uses a simple interface that puts all of your key functions in a clearly-represented row on the bottom of the screen. Tap any of them, and it instantly pulls up that menu.
