Up for auction is our pristine 2003 Mercedes-Benz CL600 Coupe, with a Twin Turbo V12 motor.
This top-of-the-line model puts out 493 silky-smooth horsepower that feels and sounds like a jet airplane taxing on a runway.
Getting to 60 miles per hour in 4.6 seconds is not too bad.  Top speed is electronically limited to 155 illegal miles per hour.

Do your Google search and you will see that this top-of-the-line model comes with tons of expensive options.
Go to Wikipedia and type in 2003 Mercedes CL600 and then scroll down to "W215" models.

The best highway mileage I got was 22 mpg (freeway) according to the onboard computer.
I did that by staying under 2,000 rpm (about 70 mph) with cruise control on.

I'm an old motorhead geezer that has owned many classic high-performance cars but this is the nicest one of all.
It took me a very long time to find it.  It had been a leased car in Arizona, then went to southern California and
then north to my town of Los Altos, California.  It has never been driven in snow or salt, as far as I know.

Because we are retired, the car very seldom gets driven, thus the low mileage of 50, 2XX.  It is parked in a heated garage.
Also, when this car is driven in sunshine the rear window sun-screen is always used.  This is done
to protect the rear interior of the car.  It works great, and is easily raised or lowered with a push of a button on the dash.

I'm a former certified Mercedes-Benz Concours d'Elegance judge and have shown this car at Treasure Id., San Francisco
and at the Palo Alto Concours with the Mercedes-Benz Club.  Since I was a judge it was only for show, not competition.

The original price in 2003 (OTD) was $140,000!  Now you can get it at a fraction of this price.
This car comes with the optional $5,600 AMG body package, wider rear wheels and chrome AMG wheels.  Motor is stock.
This is why it might be a little higher than some of the other CL600s on eBay.

When I first got it there was a small blemish on the chrome grill so I had a new one installed (see photo).
The Michelin tires were replaced recently, as well as new brakes.  The spare tire has never been used.
While I owned it, it has always been hand washed and waxed with Zymol.  As far as I know, it has never been smoked in.
Ash trays (front and rear) have never been used (see photo).

This past year over $10,000 of new parts have been put in, such as a new ABC (Active Body Control) system, tires, brakes, radiatior,
timing belt, water pump, etc., etc.

The exterior color is Bright Silver and the interior color is Ash.  Speaking of the interior, when you get inside
you think you are in a brand new car.  Since we have owned it there were no children or pets inside.
In my opinion, it happens to have the most comfortable seat on the planet!
Both front seats heat up, cool down and the front ones give you a massage while driving.  How cool is that?

All controls operate as designed.  It comes with original manuals, Mercedes-Benz CD maps,
Mercedes unused first-aid kit, and original unused tools (see photo).
It also comes with 4 black WeatherTech floor mats.  These are great for protecting the original carpeting.

The only flaw that I am aware of are hairline cracks in the front fenders (very typical of CL models).
I have all receipts for parts and repairs since purchasing it in early 2008.

The car is registered in California up to January 2015!

It comes with no warranty and is sold as is, where is.
PLEASE NOTE:  The personal license plates are not included in the sale.  Also, since I am listing this locally
I reserve the right to close this auction early.

If you have any questions feel free to phone me at:  (1-650) 941-8621

SHIPPING:  This is 100% buyer's responsibility.  I have used (enclosed trailer) Intercity Lines, Inc. (Jay Leno uses them)

PAYMENT:  $500.00 deposit (through PayPal) is due within 72 hours of end-of-auction.
Balance is due within 10 days of end-of-auction.
If balance is paid by Cashier's Check  the car will not be released
until the check has completely cleared my bank, which could take up to two weeks.

If you want to fly to my area and drive it home I will gladly pick you up at the San Jose or San Francisco Airport.

2016 Mercedes-Benz C350e Plug-In Hybrid casts a green light in Geneva

Tue, Mar 3 2015

Mercedes revealed another plug-in hybrid model, the C350e, at the Geneva Motor Show. Based on the company's scalable hybrid platform, the C350e offers 19 miles of electric range, and the total system makes 279 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. It's part of the company's goal to bring 10 new plug-in models to the market by 2017 around the world. The hybrid system teams an electric motor with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a seven-speed gearbox. The C350e also has regenerative braking and can be driven in four modes ranging from Eco to Sport Plus. The lithium-ion battery pack can be charged in 1 hour, 45 seconds, and it has a total capacity of 6.2 kilowatt-hours. The C350e has an Airmatic suspension, an interior climate control system that can be controlled via the internet and offers Mercedes' suite of driver-assist technologies. Mercedes will sell the model as a sedan and a wagon in some markets. The new Mercedes-Benz C 350 e: Efficiency, dynamism and comfort – the best of three worlds The new Mercedes-Benz C 350 e: Efficiency, dynamism and comfort – the best of three worlds Following its premiere in the S-Class, Mercedes-Benz is now offering its most advanced hybrid technology yet in the C-Class and, for the first time, also in an Estate model. The dynamism and efficiency of the C 350 e make it a convincing proposition in both its Saloon and its Estate guise. With a range of 31 kilometres in purely electric mode, local emission-free driving is now a reality. Its four-cylinder petrol engine, in conjunction with a powerful electric motor, gives it a total system output of 205 kW (279 hp) and torque of 600 Nm. The new C 350 e thus delivers the performance of a sports car and yet offers certified consumption figures of just 2.1 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres both as a Saloon and as an Estate. This corresponds to CO2 emissions of 48 grams (49 grams for the Estate) per kilometre. Both models are also equipped as standard with AIRMATIC air suspension plus a Pre-Entry Climate Control system that can be controlled via the internet, adding up to a truly exceptional level of driving and climate comfort. Prof Dr Thomas Weber, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and responsible for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development: "The PLUG-IN HYBRID is an investment in the future of Mercedes-Benz and we believe it will become established as the successful technology for maximum efficiency coupled with powerful dynamic performance.

2020 Colorado Winter Driver's Notes | Behind the Wheel S02 // E12

Mon, Apr 6 2020

2020 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 I’ve had bad luck with SUVs this winter. Especially performance ones. First, I got a 2019 Range Rover Sport SVR delivered on summers right as two feet of snow fell, rendering it undriveable. Then, coronavirus cancelled Easter Jeep Safari as well as my trip out to Moab in the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Diesel. Thankfully, when this 469 horsepower luxury mall crawler was dropped off, the sun shone down and the snow (mostly) held off.  The first thing that I noticed was there were a few blank buttons throughout the cabin, something that you may see in an entry model vehicle, but IÂ’m not accustomed to seeing in an AMG. Not a great look for a vehicle with an $80,000 price tag. Thankfully that was where the disappointment ended. As soon as you press the start button, the engine fires up and the exhaust note is incredible. Hopping on the highway ramp near my house, I floored it, and the biturbo V8 had me pressed back into the driver's seat, and this wasnÂ’t even the S version that our staff drove last year. Inside and out, the GLC 63 was everything youÂ’d expect from Mercedes. The interior was immaculate, and while the infotainment wheel and touch pad may take some getting used to for someone who isnÂ’t familiar, by now I have it down so that I can use it without looking. And while the V8 left me smiling ear to ear, I was most impressed by the amount of useable interior space there is. I happened to be moving at the time of this review and while all of my large furniture was shoved into the back of a moving van, I was able to fit almost everything else in the back of the GLC. 2019 and 2020 Fiat 500X Trekking ItÂ’s hard to say goodbye to an AMG and then turn around and be excited when a Fiat 500X pulls in your driveway (I know, I know, automotive journalist problems). That being said, when the red Fiat pulled up, I found myself admiring it. I am very familiar with the 500X. Back in 2016 Autoblog had one for a year as our long term test vehicle. I drove that car everywhere, multiple trips up north in Michigan, and even tracked it at Gingerman Raceway for a few laps before the brakes started smoking.  The 2019 model I had in my driveway and the 2020 model I drove in the snow up in the mountains feel very similar to that car. The interior is stylish and surprisingly roomy. The greenhouse is airy.

Red Bull may seek engines from Ferrari after Mercedes snub

Thu, Sep 10 2015

Red Bull and Renault's fractured relationship is pushing the Austrian F1 team to find a new engine provider. But after a trip across the German border to chat with Mercedes-Benz proved fruitless, the team is apparently set to head across its home country's southern border, and into Italy. Yep, Red Bull Ferrari could be a thing next season. According to RBR boss Christian Horner, the company is just doing "necessary due diligence" in contacting other engine suppliers, although he's willfully admitted to Germany's Bild newspaper that the "idea of Mercedes is finished," BBC Sport reports. It wasn't so much that Mercedes and Red Bull couldn't come to financial agreement – Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz views throwing money into F1 in much the same way you or I toss pennies into the mall fountain – but rather that the Germans had no interest in supplying the best engines on the grid to the factory team's perennial rival. BBC Sport seems to think that fact, along with what the outlet calls Red Bull's "antagonistic" relationship with engine suppliers, killed the Mercedes deal. Honda and RBR aren't likely to happen either, thanks to McLaren (not that we think Red Bull would approach the Japanese, which have struggled mightily all season long). By process of elimination, that just leaves Ferrari. Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Maurizio Arrivabene confirmed that his team can accommodate Red Bull's engine needs, and that he wasn't concerned with the idea of a Ferrari engine in an Adrian Newey-designed body. "In theory they have big names, with Newey as chief designer and it is easy to think that if you give them the engine they will build a scary chassis, which means they will be really competitive," Arrivabene told BBC Sport. "Concerning my team, my engineers and aerodynamicists know their own jobs. For that reason I don't have a problem, and competition is nice when you have a stronger competitor." "This doesn't mean tomorrow morning we will give our engines to Red Bull or Toro Rosso," Arrivabene added. And it's that statement we'd suggest remembering. There are, after all, still seven races left in the 2015 season, which is quite a lot of time for new and different developments within the sport's notoriously gruesome political process. In other words, don't count on an announcement from any team or manufacturer for at least a few more races. Related Video:
