THIS IS AN OH-SO-RARE 2006 MERCEDES CL600. ONLY 82K ORIGINAL MILES AND IN SPECTACULAR CONDITION!!! IT WAS BOTH A CPO AND MB EXTENDE WARRANTY CAR, AND OWNED BY THE PRESIDENT OF A LARGE BANK. HE WAS VERY PARTICULAR, SO EVERY SINGLE LITTLE THING YOU CAN IMAGINE WAS DONE AT THE BENZ DEALER, ON TIME, WITHOUT REGARD TO EXPENSE. It has gone through multiple pre-purchase inspections and needs nothing at all except a new owner. No stories, so please read on to find out more. -- Here she is in all her glory --

Please let me stop you now if you are looking for an inexpensive, needy, or average CL600 like most of them for sale. This is not that car. I am hired by clients to buy over twenty AMG and 600-series Mercedes each year, and I can tell you there is ONE thing I look for: a car with a no-expense spared, documented, service and maintenance history. This is that car. Just in the last couple of years, this car’s MB extended warranty paid for neartly ten thousand dollars worth or repairs and maintenance. On top fo that, the car has a clean carfax, only two owners, and has all original body and paint. It looks NEW inside and out. Please understand, with these cars, you get what you pay for. I paid top-dollar to get this car, because it DESTROYED every other CL600 I looked at for cosmetics and mechanicals.

Here's the deal:

-- This is a 2006 CL600 in 040 black over charcoal leather interior, with matching black carpets and grey alcantara headliner. It has the root burlwood interior trim. It is a two owner car, ALWAYS dealer serviced, has only 82,xxx miles, and looks like a million bucks. This car was LOVED, and has NEVER had any paint or bodywork to its body panels. There is hardly a ding, dent, scuff, or scratch anywhere…it’s unreal. --

-- Exterior 9.90 out of 10 - Fantastic overall condition paint, body, glass, and trim. No dings. No dents. No scuffs. This CL600 looks amazing, with a deep shine to the black paint that's like looking into an endless mirror. This car has been paint metered and every body panel is original and wears its original paint. This car looks great even under fluorescent light in a garage. Imagine getting a 7 year old black car with no swirl marks or spiderwebs in the paint….amazing! --

-- The lower side-body moldings are in great shape. The chrome, rubber, glass, and trim is all excellent and original. No oxidation, fade, wear, rust, etc. as you’d expect on a 82K mile car. Look at the body panels.....they are laser straight. --

-- This CL600 is nicely optioned, with an original MSRP of more than $129K! Options include multi-contour active ventilated/heated front seats, keyless go, trunk closer, heated steering wheel, AMG sport package, CD changer, a nicely integrated Parrot bluetooth phone kit, and more. Wow! --

-- To top it off, there is a $4000+ highly integrated Blinder front and rear laser jammer, and K40 remote install radar detector, included with the car. This is a VERY high end specialty install, with tiny LEDs integrated into the sides of the instrument cluster housing, hidden oin/off switch, and more. Very impressive work. --

-- It currently wears its OEM 18” alloy wheels, all true and in excellent condition. The Michelin tires are getting low in the rear, but at the BIN price I will include a near-new set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires in sizes 245/45/18 and 265/40/18. It goes arrow-straight down the road at high speed with no shimmy, pull, or anything else. --

-- Interior 9.9 out of 10 - The interior overall including all seating and door leather, seat padding, dash, console, wood, and carpets are in great original condition. No dash cracks, carpet rips, zero wear of any kind on the leather. Everything looks and feels new. This is not the typical worn CL - this car was garaged every day of its life and it shows. No refinishing either, this is the ORIGINAL UNTOUCHED interior, without even any type of detailing, just a wash and a vacuum off the truck from PA. --

-- The door panels and wood trim are also in great shape, like the rest of the car. --

-- Even the trunk and spare are mint, MB CD changer in place, tool roll is in place. --

-- Electrical 10 out of 10 - All lights, switches, radio, windows, wipers, seat motors/memory/pulse, and power mirrors work perfectly. Vacuum lock system, nav, remote key, interior lights all operating as they should. --

-- The ABC system is operating properly with no leaks. The service history is great, extensive and documented all at the MB dealer. ABC struts, coolant charge pump, oil, filters, mounts, and more were all done. This CL600’s service history is NINE PAGES OF FOUR POINT TYPE! Recent services by MB dealer include the B maintenance, coolant flush, brake fluid flush, and more. That’s well over TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS of recent work at the MB dealer! The owner of this car was actually flagged by Mercedes Benz corporate for submitting too many warranty claims! But that means there is nothing for the next owner to do, it’s all been done already. HVAC system is fast to respond, and operates perfectly with scalding hot heat and ice-cold A/C. Seat heaters and seat A/C all working properly. --

-- Mechanical 10 out of 10 - Engine starts, idles, runs, and revs to redline in every gear smooth and strong. You can NOT tell when this car is running at idle! Transmission is smooth yet very aggressive, and downshifts eagerly to catapult you into the next county. No abrupt engagement, just silky smooth shifts. She runs at high speed with no vibrations or noises. There are no leaks....NONE. --

-- This CL600 has passed THREE inspections with flying colors. A pre-purchase overall inspection with paint meter and test drive, a suspension/brake/wheel/tire/exhaust inspection, and an full mechanical inspection by my mechanic. After their final and thorough inspection for any problems, she’s ready to roll. --

-- Engine is VERY VERY strong and VERY eager to run, transmission smooth and ready to drop down two gears at your command to rocket you past slower traffic. Brakes are solid and pedal feel is firm. Suspension is tight like new, no worn tie rod ends, ball joints, struts, or anything else. Steering nicely weighted with no play in the box. ZERO leaks or noises. This car drives and handles like new. Look at the condition of the engine bay! –

-- This CL600 comes with all the books, tools, nav DVD, remote key, and EVERY SINGLE MB service record since new, all the way back to day one! No expense spared maintenance and repairs. --

-- This CL600 does not have any signs of wear, no rubber rot, no leaks, no ABC problems, no lukewarm A/C....NOTHING. Everything is in fantastic shape, and at ‘only’ 82K miles, it's not even close to broken in yet! With these cars, often it’s better to get a slightly higher mile car where all thw heavy lifting has been done already, rather than a lower mile car where YOU are the one that will have to fix everything. --

-- If someone selects the buy-it-now option, I will provide the following: The near-new Michelin Super Sport performance tires. A full $200 detailing including engine bay, carpet shampoo, leather conditioning, orbital polishing, etc. I'll also supply Toughguard protectant for the paint, which you have to see to believe. It will bead water, seal, and UV protect the paint for FIVE YEARS, GUARANTEED....no future waxings necessary. I know it sounds like a B.S. late-night TV claim, but it's not; dealers charge $695 and up for this stuff, and it really works. I will also include floor mats and 040 black touch-up paint. That’s close to $1500 in value! --

-- Nits: None. I know it sounds ridiculous to have a mechanically and cosmetically near-flawless car with 82K miles on it, but there it is. The car is as perfect as you will ever see for a 2006 CL600, and you’ll never see another one like it! --

-- I have great feedback, and have recently sold dozens of high-end cars that the new owners are thrilled with. They and others have offered to act as references to verify that I am honest in my descriptions of the cars I sell, and you are welcome to contact them. --

THIS IS A ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME CAR, AND IT'S AN UNBELIEVABLE DEAL!!

Race Recap: 2015 US Grand Prix was wet, wild, and historic

Mon, Oct 26 2015

Hurricane Patricia made landfall in Mexico this weekend, and made her presence known throughout the South. For two of the three days of the grand prix weekend it rained non-stop in Austin, so badly on Saturday that qualifying had to be postponed until Sunday morning, and then it only stayed dry enough to conduct the first two sessions. At the end of a tricky, slippery Q2 Nico Rosberg had put his Mercedes-AMG Petronas on the front row, one tenth ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton. The German had done the best he could to keep his hair-thin chances of a World Championship fight alive. Daniel Ricciardo lined his Infiniti Red Bull Racing chassis in third ahead of teammate Daniil Kvyat, both drivers having moved up a place because Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel took a ten-spot grid penalty for using a fifth engine and dropped to 13th. Continuing the two-up theme, Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg were fifth and sixth for Force India. After that came variety: Felipe Massa in seventh for Williams, Max Verstappen for Toro Rosso in eighth, Fernando Alonso looking good in the rain for McLaren in ninth, and Romain Grosjean for Lotus in tenth. When the lights went out, Turn 1 set the tone. Pole position is on the outside line at Circuit of the Americas, and Hamilton had got himself far enough under Rosberg by the time the two got up the hill that Rosberg had to stick to the outside through the corner. At the corner exit Hamilton used the entire track, pushing Rosberg wide, their cars touching. As Rosberg left the track and dropped back to fourth, Hamilton radioed to the team to say the contact was unintentional. The two Mercedes' and two Red Bulls animated the front. Rosberg passed Ricciardo at the end of a Virtual Safety Car period employed to let the marshals clean the debris at Turn 1. Kvyat started chasing down Hamilton until the Russian ran wide and let Rosberg and Ricciardo through, then Rosberg ran wide on the next lap to let Ricciardo through. On Lap 15, Ricciardo passed Hamilton through the esses to take the lead. After the first round of pit stops the Aussie still had the lead, followed by Rosberg, Kvyat, Hamilton, and Vettel. Then Rosberg got around to take the lead and Vettel closed in on Hamilton as the Brit duked it out with the Russian. Rosberg showed excellent speed, building up a nine-second gap on Ricciardo, but a Safety Car period erased that when Marcus Ericsson had to park his dead Sauber on the inside of the track after Turn 10.

VW joins Daimler's protest of new A/C refrigerant as EU deadline for compliance passes

Sun, 06 Jan 2013

The case of Dupont and Honeywell's refrigerant R-1234yf is doing the exact opposite of keeping things cool. The two chemical companies have spent years and hundreds of millions of dollars developing R-1234yf to replace R-134a, the new refrigerant shown to be 99.7-percent kinder to the environment than the one it is meant to succeed. Part of that development has been years of testing by governments, outside safety agencies and automakers to approve the chemical for use in cars. It passed the protocols necessary for the European Union to declare that new and significantly revised cars from 2013 onward needed to use R-1234yf, and mandated that every car as of 2017 must use it.
Enter Daimler AG. The automaker created a head-on collision test with a B-Class at their Sindelfingen test track that would lead to the pressurized refrigerant being sprayed on the engine. The result in 20 out of 20 test was that the refrigerant burst into flames as soon as it hit the hot engine, while Daimler says that R-134a does not catch fire in the same test. Another unexpected result of the R-1234yf test was the release of hydrogen flouride, a chemical far more deadly to humans than hydrogen cyanide, emitted in such amounts that it that turned the windshield white as it began to eat into the glass.
Said a Daimler engineer in a Reuters piece, "It was scarcely believable. The most complicated lab tests conducted using the most sensitive measuring instruments around found nothing and all we do is drive a car around a couple of times, open a tiny hole in the refrigerant line and the next thing you know the car is on fire." So Daimler said it wouldn't use the refrigerant, and it recalled the cars it had already shipped with R-1234yf.

Red Bull may seek engines from Ferrari after Mercedes snub

Thu, Sep 10 2015

Red Bull and Renault's fractured relationship is pushing the Austrian F1 team to find a new engine provider. But after a trip across the German border to chat with Mercedes-Benz proved fruitless, the team is apparently set to head across its home country's southern border, and into Italy. Yep, Red Bull Ferrari could be a thing next season. According to RBR boss Christian Horner, the company is just doing "necessary due diligence" in contacting other engine suppliers, although he's willfully admitted to Germany's Bild newspaper that the "idea of Mercedes is finished," BBC Sport reports. It wasn't so much that Mercedes and Red Bull couldn't come to financial agreement – Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz views throwing money into F1 in much the same way you or I toss pennies into the mall fountain – but rather that the Germans had no interest in supplying the best engines on the grid to the factory team's perennial rival. BBC Sport seems to think that fact, along with what the outlet calls Red Bull's "antagonistic" relationship with engine suppliers, killed the Mercedes deal. Honda and RBR aren't likely to happen either, thanks to McLaren (not that we think Red Bull would approach the Japanese, which have struggled mightily all season long). By process of elimination, that just leaves Ferrari. Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Maurizio Arrivabene confirmed that his team can accommodate Red Bull's engine needs, and that he wasn't concerned with the idea of a Ferrari engine in an Adrian Newey-designed body. "In theory they have big names, with Newey as chief designer and it is easy to think that if you give them the engine they will build a scary chassis, which means they will be really competitive," Arrivabene told BBC Sport. "Concerning my team, my engineers and aerodynamicists know their own jobs. For that reason I don't have a problem, and competition is nice when you have a stronger competitor." "This doesn't mean tomorrow morning we will give our engines to Red Bull or Toro Rosso," Arrivabene added. And it's that statement we'd suggest remembering. There are, after all, still seven races left in the 2015 season, which is quite a lot of time for new and different developments within the sport's notoriously gruesome political process. In other words, don't count on an announcement from any team or manufacturer for at least a few more races. Related Video:
