Low Mileage Mint Condition 100 Years Of Mercedes-benz Anniversary Edition Cl550 on 2040-cars

Year:2010 Mileage:30000
Location:

Fayetteville, North Carolina, United States

Fayetteville, North Carolina, United States

Condition:  This car is immaculate.  It is absolutely beautiful and grabs the eyes of everyone that sees it from business executives to security guards to women at the mall.

Features:  The Mercedes-Benz CL550 comes in a designo collection paint, and prominently features the two logos in the center console, crafted from gilded plate brass.

The car itself includes a new AMG Sports package, which includes new front and rear aprons, with brushed stainless steel side skirts and pedals. The pedals are also studded in black rubber, so your shoe doesn't slip when you thrust the accelerator. Take a look at the high resolution photo of the wheel, and you will see silver-painted brake calipers with the company name emblazoned on them. They are contained by new 20-inch twin five-spoke anniversary edition wheels made from a light-alloy. The titanium grey wheels will only be available on the special edition, and feature the combined Mercedes star and Benz laurel wreath at the center.

Inside, drivers and passengers are welcomed with high-quality hand-stitched leather. Tanned to a "light sand color," the stitching used creates a high-contrast look. Where it gets a little odd is the use of a dark grey leather on the wheel -with dark wood- and dash, combined with piano black lacquer and an "anthracite Alcantara roof lining." Floor mats are also black. The brown-black contrast may be unappealing to some, but surely others will like the idea. Everybody inside gets the benefits of a six-disc DVD changer with surround-sound, with splitview. An upgraded COMAND APS system includes an SD card slot and a USB port.

What this 388 hp car is meant to do is celebrate "100 years of the trademark." Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft registered the Mercedes three-point star on June 24, 1909. Six weeks later, August Benz & Cie. registered there trademark: the word "Benz" surrounded by the laurel. One hundred years later, the two symbols are still iconic, reflecting both quality and performance, and landing the company at number 10 on BusinessWeek's "World's Best Brands" list.

History:  I am the third registered owner of this car.  Because of the car's exclusivity, the previous two owners were both older gentlemen who owned high profile Mercedes-Benz Dealerships and could pull the strings needed to get the car.

Shipping and payment:  Because this car is so unique, I require full clearance of funds prior to allowing the vehicle to leave my lot.  I have 36 months of mBrace+ ($2700) that I will be transferring to the buyer of the car.  The down payment is because I do not want my time to be wasted by someone that is unsure if they want this.  This is not a car that you can walk to any dealership and buy.  While having every package available for the 2010 model of CL550, this car also has several exclusive upgrades that came with the very exclusive, 100th Anniversary package.  There will be an approximately 30 day delay from purchase on the release of the title.  There is still money owed to the bank on the car loan so I will use the money for the purchase to pay the vehicle off and then the bank will send me the title.  I will then send the title via Next-Day Certified Mail to the purchaser of the vehicle OR I will place the title in the glove box of the car when it is picked up.  Shipping/pickup is the responsibility of the purchaser.

Race Recap: Abu Dhabi GP is reversals, luck, leanness and last dances

Mon, Nov 24 2014

We weren't sure if Alter Ego Nico Rosberg, the one who flew into Brazil and showed Mercedes AMG Petronas teammate Lewis Hamilton that he knew also knew how to grab an entire race weekend by the scruff of the neck, arrived in Abu Dhabi. In both Friday practice sessions Hamilton showed Rosberg the way. Then on Saturday, Alter Ego Rosberg took over, taking the last Free Practice session and then pole position by a whopping four-tenths of a second over Hamilton. Thanks to the gimmicky and soon-to-be-obliterated spectre of double points, if Rosberg won the race and Hamilton finished lower than second, the World Championship would remain in German hands. Behind Hamilton came the Williams duo, again, with Valtteri Bottas ahead of Felipe Massa. Daniil Kvyat did swell to put his Toro Rosso in fifth, Jenson Button was just as swell getting his McLaren into sixth. Kimi Raikkonen outqualified his Ferrari teammate Fernando Alonso for the third time this year, the pair taking seventh and eighth on the grid. Kevin Magnussen lined the second McLaren up in ninth, Jean-Eric Vergne making the top ten for Toro Rosso in his last race for the team. To be clear, that was the final grid for race: Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel had both qualified in the top ten but were sent to the back of the grid when their Infiniti Red Bull Racing front wings were deemed illegal. They'd start from the pit lane, which was still ahead of Romain Grosjean in the Lotus, who took so many penalties for new engine components that he started the race in Turkey. At lights-out on Sunday, well, it was pretty much lights out. That's when Hamilton got the start of the year, bolting off the line so quickly it didn't take him 100 meters to get in front of Rosberg. The Brit took Turn 1 in the lead, then laid more than a second into the German on the first lap. Rosberg kept close, about 2.5 seconds back, but it was Hamilton's race to lose and everyone knew it; barring a reliability issue or the kind of driving mistake Hamilton hasn't made all year, Britain would have its fourth double world champion. Rosberg was left asking his engineer what kind of strategy they might use to claim first place. That reliability issue did come, but it struck Rosberg on Lap 26 when his entire Energy Recovery System failed, robbing him of 160 horsepower and taxing his brakes.

2015 Belgian Grand Prix is a return to scheduled programming

Mon, Aug 24 2015

With summer intermission over, the second half of the Formula One season commenced in the Belgian countryside at Spa-Francorchamps. After qualifying, it looked a lot like the first half of the season with just a few minor changes. Lewis Hamilton was even more dominant in his Mercedes-AMG Petronas than usual, regularly taking half a second out of his teammate in just the middle sector of the circuit. Teammate Nico Rosberg tightened it up a tad for his final hot lap, but Hamilton still took pole by 0.45 seconds ahead of Rosberg in second. With his Williams back at a power track, Valtteri Bottas got himself up to third, although more than a second behind Hamilton. Romain Grosjean in the Lotus in fourth had his best qualifying performance since his fourth-place grid spot at the 2013 US Grand Prix. This was a huge boon for Lotus, the team facing another financial issue off track that threatened to have its cars impounded as soon as they left the circuit. Grosjean had to have his gearbox changed before the conclusion of six races, however, so the five-spot penalty meant he'd actually line up ninth for the race. Sergio Perez put the Sahara Force India in fifth, where we're more used to seeing his teammate Nico Hulkenberg, just ahead of Daniel Ricciardo in the Infiniti Red Bull Racing in sixth. Felipe Massa got the second Williams in seventh, in front of the second Lotus of Pastor Maldonado in eighth. Then came the first and only Ferrari in the top ten, Sebastian Vettel qualifying ninth after a disappointing Saturday for the scuderia; teammate Kimi Raikkonen suffered gearbox issues and qualified way down in 16th. Carlos Sainz took tenth in the Toro Rosso. A new start procedure in Belgium meant drivers had to handle clutches on their own, without the engineers finely tuning bite points between the garage and the start line. That was in conjunction with another rule limiting the kinds of radio messages possible between engineers and drivers, aiming to put more of the car in the drivers' hands. After an aborted start when Hulkenberg's car quit while sitting on the grid, Hamilton made the most of the new procedure. His start wasn't amazing but he beat everyone else off the line, while those behind were alternately getting bogged down or leaping ahead. Midway through the first lap the top ten was Hamilton, Perez, Ricciardo, Bottas, Rosberg, Vettel, Maldonado, Grosjean, Massa, Marcus Ericsson. At the end of 43 laps, Hamilton would still be in the lead.

Volvo S60 Polestar concept plays in the snow with Mercedes C63 AMG

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

Chris Harris took to a snowy stretch of tarmac to get a fingertips-on-the-wheel feel of the Volvo S60 Polestar concept. Harris says the turbocharged sedan with 508 horsepower and 424 pound-feet of torque - and a manual transmission - is "a study to see if Volvo can get back into the fast-car market." The Polestar S60 concept, one of which was already purchased for $300,000 by a private buyer, is still making the publicity rounds because even Volvo's Chinese owners realize that, as Harris says, "Volvo sold more cars because it made fast cars" like the old 850 T5 Wagon that stormed the British Touring Car Championship in the 1990s.
For reference, Harris compares the blue wonder to the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG and its 487 hp and 442 lb-ft. The question is, were Volvo to get the price of a production version of the S60 Polestar to climb way down from its 200,000-pound sticker, could it be worthy competition to the established giants?
You can watch Harris divine the answer via a lot of drifting through the snow and a drag race in the video below.
