1999 Mercedes-benz Cl500 - 43k Miles - Outstanding Condition on 2040-cars
Santa Monica, California, United States
Overview 1999 was the last and probably the best year for the W140 S-class coupe (or C140). The Bruno Sacco lines still look great today, and the quality of materials throughout is unmatched by anything today short of Bentley or Rolls Royce. The best feature of the car has to be its powertrain -- the legendary M119 V8 matched with a surprisingly lively 5-speed automatic. I'm always looking for an excuse to dip into the throttle and bring the revs past 3000. There's plenty of grunt, even for such a heavy car, and the sound is magnificent. The car excels at long highway trips and, amazingly, can travel up to 600 miles on a single tank of fuel. Ownership History I am the car’s third owner, having purchased it in July 2012 from the estate of a Chicago attorney, who drove the car sparingly for about 10 years. He originally bought it from the local Mercedes-Benz dealer (Knauz Continental Autos) as a Starmark certified pre-owned car with 14,800 miles. (I am not familiar with the original owner.) Condition Body: 9 out of 10 The car is completely original and has never been in an accident nor had any paint or bodywork of any kind. The Midnight Blue paint shines with a depth that only older Mercedes-Benz vehicles seem able to achieve. The only flaws are: a few light scratches on the trunk lid, some small paint chips around the door edges, and a dime-sized door ding on the driver’s side door. Interior: 9.5 out of 10 The Blue Nappa interior looks and even smells new, and everything works perfectly -- with the exception of the driver’s seat, which sometimes doesn’t want to fold forward if you are letting someone into the back (passenger seat works fine) ; also, if you squint, you can see that the driver’s seat has some very slight fading on the bolster nearest to the door. Mechanical: 10 out of 10 The car runs and drives like a brand-new car. It’s an outstanding highway cruiser and gets as much as 25 miles per gallon on long trips. I recently took the car to Oregon and back without any problems whatsoever. Service History The car has received all of its scheduled maintenance at Mercedes-Benz dealerships. The only repair I’ve had to make during my ownership was to have broken plastic gear in the passenger seat replaced; I had this work done at German Motor Car Service in Santa Monica. I put new Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires on when I bought the car; they have approximately 10,000 miles on them now. The car comes with all of its original books and manuals as well as two keys. Pricing Kelley Blue Book places the private party value for this car in excellent condition at $14,125. In the interest of a quick sale, I am pricing the car at $13,500 or best offer. Reason for Sale I’m selling the car now because it’s currently just a weekend car for me, and I would like to use the funds to offset the costs of some recent home improvement work. |

Queens man knows how to party, disrupts Mets game with van
Fri, Jun 24 2016A New Yorker and all-around true American hero took his weekend festivities a little too far and landed himself in front of a judge last week. According to NBC New York, Nelson Hidalgo drove his unassuming Sprinter to Citi Field on Saturday, June 18, around 10:45 p.m. While the Mets were getting thrashed by the Braves, Hidalgo pulled up to the intersection of 127th street and 35th avenue. Hiding within the van's cargo area were 80 speakers driven by powerful amps, around $20,000 worth of car audio. Hidalgo opened the Sprinter's rear doors, deployed his amazing speaker system, cracked a cold Coors Light, and unleashed hell. Noise complaints immediately started flooding in to the police, including one from the Mets' bullpen. Soon, Hidalgo amassed a sizable crowd who had come to rock out and marvel at the lunacy of the Sprinter's sound system. The NYPD showed up eventually and, undaunted by noise and the crowd, clapped the irons on poor Nelson. The Sprinter was impounded and Hildago was charged with second-degree criminal nuisance, general noise prohibition, disorderly conduct, and obstructing the driver's view. "I know it's illegal, but it's the weekend," he explained to the cops as they hauled him away. Once they had him in custody, the NYPD realized that Hidalgo was the person they had been looking for in connection with absurdly loud music coming from various city junkyards in the dead of night. Hidalgo, who has no prior record, spent the night in the slammer but was released the next morning with no bail on the promise that he return for his court date on August 1. Related Video:
Mercedes-Benz cut fleetwide emissions by 4.3 percent last year
Fri, Apr 11 2014Mercedes-Benz says it reduced its fleetwide vehicle emissions by 4.3 percent last year. Of course, the German automaker has another 29 percent to go to meet the European Commission's 2020 mandate. But who's counting? Mercedes' luxury and sports car bent has made it a relative laggard when it comes to increasing fleetwide fuel-efficiency, but the company did reduce emissions from 140 grams of CO2 per kilometer to 134 last year. The company's fleetwide fuel efficiency (calculated using the lenient European standard) was 5.4 liters per 100 kilometers, which equals about 44 miles per gallon and represents a 25-percent jump since 2007. Benz has come a long way from its gas-swilling V8 tanks of the 1970s. In fact, the company said its top performer, in the fuel-efficiency sense, was the diesel-powered B180 CDI BlueEfficiency Edition, which consumes 3.8 liters per 100 kilometers. That equals about 62 mpg (again, on the lenient scale). The company got some additional good press by revealing that Winfried Kretschmann, Minister-President of the German State of Baden-Wurttemberg, drives a Mercedes-Benz S300 BlueTEC Hybrid. Not exactly a Nissan Leaf, mind you, but it's a start, as is the company's efforts to bring its fleetwide emissions ever closer to the 95g CO2/km level that the EC is mandating by 2020. Take a look at Mercedes-Benz's press release below. Minister-President of the German State of Baden-Wurttemberg, Winfried Kretschmann (left), with Prof. Dr. Thomas Weber (right) and a Mercedes-Benz S-Class S 300 BlueTEC HYBRID Fleet fuel consumption for Mercedes-Benz Cars falls to 134 g CO2/km: Top efficiency figures in all vehicle classes Stuttgart, Apr 08, 2014 Benefit for the environment and customers: In almost all vehicle classes, Mercedes-Benz offers the most efficient vehicle in the competitive lineup. Moreover, in 2013 the company was able to reduce the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions[1] of the Mercedes-Benz Cars EU new vehicle fleet by a further six grams, to 134 g CO2/km. This means that in 2013, the average fleet consumption was 5.4 litres/100 km – a reduction by 24.7 percent since 2007. At present the company offers more than 50 models emitting less than 120 g CO2/km and 71 models emitting less than 130 g CO2/km. Customers can find vehicles in the Mercedes-Benz model range that consume considerably less fuel than competing models. "With our model initiative we want to be the leading premium manufacturer by 2020 again, says Prof.
YouTube's Super Bowl commercial buzz list dominated by automakers [w/videos]
Thu, 31 Jan 2013After Sunday's big game, YouTube will be the place to watch every commercial that you missed when you left your seat for an emergency guac refill or, as we say in Cleveland, took the Browns to the Super Bowl. That makes YouTube the nation's water cooler on Monday, and it's got some preliminary stats to share in the lead up to kickoff.
As you know, Super Bowl advertisers, particularly automakers, like to endlessly tease their big budget commercials in the weeks before the game, many times revealing them outright days in advance. Because of this, YouTube can tell us which commercials have been viewed the most so far, and their top five list is all automakers.
Kaley Cuoco appears to have been a good investment for Toyota, as her ad for the RAV4 has garnered the most YouTube views - six million and counting - among Super Bowl commercials so far. Second place goes to Mercedes-Benz, though not its actual Super Bowl commercial, but rather the teaser for it. You know, the one with Kate Upton and the car washing, which is up to 5.6 million views. Third place is Audi's Prom commercial (3.3M views), fourth goes to Volkswagen's slightly controversial Get In, Get Happy ad (3.3M views), and the fifth and final spot is bookended by the teaser video for Kaley Cuoco's commercial (3.2M views). You can watch all five in order below.
