One owner

Always Garaged

Drives excellent

Up for sale is our exceptionally nice 2004 Mercedes Benz C230. This is a one owner car that has spent its entire life in Florida and has always been garaged. No accidents. No one has ever smoked in it and no pets have ever been inside. That said, it is still a used car, so be realistic and expect to find a few details here and there if you look carefully – However I think one would be hard pressed to find a car with this age in better condition.

This car was used for commuting until 2009 when it was replaced by a new car. It became our spare car being driven occasionally. We would like to see it go to someone who will enjoy it as much as we did. I am very meticulous about my cars’ maintenance and don’t cut any corners and have only used original Mercedes parts on almost all the repairs. Before the original warranty expired, I purchased an extended warranty to ensure the car was serviced with original parts. I have been doing the oil changes myself every 5,000 miles with Mobil 1. Everything on the car, mechanical and electrical, works as it should.

For those who are not familiar with the C230, Mercedes made several engineering improvements including a lower ride height, upgraded brakes and a short-throw shifter. The car was made in Germany (not in Brazil like other C230’s). The main upgrades are: full ash leather, sunroof, premium sound, power driver’s seat and my favorite: factory 17” wheels that still look spectacular. I replaced halogen for Xenon light which make a huge difference. I also just replaced the A/C compressor (comes with a 12 month warranty) to ensure full and cold air.

In interest of full disclosure here are the things that are not great:

The plastic console on the front is slightly cracked due to the sun. If you look for it you can find the cracks, but it is not noticeable otherwise. You can find a replacement for $20 online. The automatic locks sometimes need to be pressed twice to lock from the remote. This was common in the C230 line and certainly nothing to be concerned about. The driver's seat shows some normal wear. The passenger seat has little wear and the backseat has minimal wear. Vehicle includes owner’s manual & (4) key/remote key (2 new edition + 2 original).

I have made an effort to represent the car in the most honest and comprehensive way and as you can see, I would have no hesitations in using this car as a daily driver again and you will have peace of mind knowing that the previous owner took care of the car quite well. If you are looking for an elegant and distinct car that has been very well taken care of and has the safety and performance of a Mercedes Benz, then this may be the car for you.

The car is located in Hollywood, FL – I can arrange for in person inspections, send me a text to 786-309-seven.seven.two.seven. Will also be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Daimler CEO says nobody is making money on EVs right now

Wed, Nov 5 2014

What do you charge for a vehicle you're going to lose money on? If you're Mercedes-Benz and the vehicle in question is the B-Class Electric Drive, you offer it for lease for just 399 euros ($498) a month with a down payment of 8,473 euros ($10,582). If Daimler was going to price it honestly, it seems, the number would have to be a lot higher. "Nobody today is making a battery-powered vehicle that's economically viable." – Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche That's according to Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche, who spoke to reporters in Spain recently and said that, "You can reasonably say that nobody today is making a battery-powered vehicle that's economically viable in its own right. Manufacturers will not see a return within a reasonable time on the billions they're investing now." There are ways to make money in EVs, of course. Just ask Daimler, which recently sold its stake in Tesla for a cool $780 million. Zetsche has some EV-critical company in executives like Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne, who has said his company loses over $10,000 on each Fiat 500E it sells. Other automakers – e.g., Tesla, Nissan – are much more positive about their financial bet on EVs, but no one is opening all their books to the public to prove this. Tesla, which worked with Mercedes on the B-Class ED, will have an earnings call with investors later today, so perhaps we'll learn something new in a few hours. The B-Class ED lease deal is for 36 months, based on an MSRP of 39,151 euros ($48,895) in Europe, including the 19 percent VAT. You can read more in the press release below. Commercial release of Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive: Local emission-free driving from ˆ399/month Stuttgart, Nov 03, 2014 With its high-torque electric motor, the B-Class Electric Drive delivers lively and superior driving pleasure – with zero local emissions. The B-Class Electric Drive is now available to order, with deliveries set to start before the end of 2014. Prices start at ˆ39,151[1]. The B-Class Electric Drive can be leased through the Mercedes-Benz Bank from ˆ399 a month[2]. Further information on the full range of tailor-made leasing and financing offers as well as specific pricing examples are available at http://www.mercedes-benz-bank.de. Quiet and local emission-free driving is ensured by a 132 kW electric motor, which, as is typical of an electric drive, delivers its maximum torque of 340 Nm right from the start. The result is noticeably powerful acceleration from rest.

Mercedes C111 concept in commercial spoof A Fistful of Wolves

Fri, Jan 16 2015

A Fistful of Wolves is a spoof of fashion advertising, commissioned by Mercedes-Benz to spread a cheeky word about Berlin Fashion Week. Yet, in the lampooning of sartorial gobbledygook, plenty of automotive advertising gets doused with cold water, too - like the ads that subscribe to the importance of being earnest (looking at you Matthew McConaughey and Kate Walsh), or the ones that try to convey just how unimaginably cool you'll be once you've jumped into the three-year-lease hole (looking at you, um... Mercedes-Benz and every other German luxury brand). We appreciate a brand that can make fun of itself, though. Led by Australian Justin O'Shea driving the Mercedes C111 through Berlin, it's beautiful satire as O'Shea tries to be fashion-forward while his friends go on about their daily lives, wondering why he never seems to be listening until he's offered cake, or why he's trying to walk in slow motion. Check it out in the video above. News Source: Mercedes-Benz via YouTube, Car and Driver Celebrities Humor Marketing/Advertising Mercedes-Benz Coupe Concept Cars Videos spoof

Dealers mobilize to protect their margins from automaker subscription services

Fri, Aug 24 2018

Six individual auto brands — Lincoln, Cadillac, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW and Volvo — have established or are trialing a vehicle subscription service in the U.S. Three third-party companies — Flexdrive, Clutch and Carma — run brand-agnostic subscription services. And three automakers — Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and General Motors — have also launched short-term rental services. Dealers, afraid of how these trends might affect their margins, are building political and lawmaking campaigns to protect their revenue streams. So far, three states are investigating automaker subscriptions, and Indiana has banned any such service until next year. It's certain that those three states are the first fronts in a long political and legal battle. Powerful dealer franchise laws mandate the existence of dealers and restrict how automakers are allowed to interact with customers to sell a vehicle. On top of that, Bob Reisner, CEO of Nassau Business Funding & Services, said, "Dealers and their associations are among the strongest political operators in many states. They as a group are difficult for state politicians to vote against." In California earlier this year, the state Assembly debated a bill with wide-ranging provisions to protect against what the California New Car Dealers Association called "inappropriate treatment of dealers by manufacturers." One of those provisions stipulated that subscription services need to go through dealers, but that item got stripped out when dealers and manufacturers agreed to discuss the matter further. In Indiana, Gov. Eric Holcomb signed a moratorium on all subscription programs by dealers or manufacturers until May 1, 2019, to give legislators more time to investigate. Dealers in New Jersey have taken their campaign to the state capitol, asking that the cars in subscription programs get a different classification for registration purposes. Automakers run the current subscription services and own the vehicles. Sign-ups and financial transactions happen online or through apps, leaving dealers to do little more than act as fulfillment centers to various degrees, with little legal recourse as to compensation amounts when they're called on to deliver or service a car. That's a bad base to build on for business owners who've sunk millions of dollars into their operations.
