1999 Mercedes-benz Slk 230 Kompressor *** Super Clean & Low Miles! *** on 2040-cars
Grass Valley, California, United States
Southern California Car I purchased this car from the original owner in San Diego with less than 11,000 miles in September 2013. The previous owner spent long periods traveling abroad, so the car was a driven maximum of only a couple thousand miles a year at best. After driving the up to Northern California and heading to the San Francisco Bay Area on the weekends, odometer reads just over 15,600 mile. The car never was really serviced beyond the normal oil service changes, so I had the car inspected and serviced to comply with any service bulletins and fix any issues. · Transmission adapter plug replaced · Accessory belts replaced · Cam magnet on the front of the motor replaced · Air filter, Cabin Filter and Fuel Filter replaced · Transmission Filter and Fluid replaced · Brake and Coolant flush · C-Pillar do not rub against the roof when down. Interior Condition These cars had a rubberized colored coating applied to the dash and center consul. And, this coating was color matched to the seat inserts. Over time, this coating peals to reveal the black surfaces underneath. So, when the red, white and blue interiors began to peal, the black surfaces would show though and really distract the look of those wonderful colors. The Charcoal Interior (like this one) at least does not draw you eye so quickly to the pealing. Most folks either live with it, remove the coating entirely or have it reapplied. Exterior Condition The paint on this car is like new! However, there are a few minor issues for a car that’s 15 years old. There are several millimeter size rock chips to the paint on the front, and a paint scratch on the divers side front fender well. I photographed the fender, but not the front as the chips where too small to photograph. Engine Compartment The engine compartment is clean and everything is easily accessible. These early models are easy to work on yourself, as the engine compartment predates all the plastic panels covering the engine found on the later releases and does not have all the complicated electronics and software found on those later models as well. Trunk The truck is absolutely flawless and looks the same as the day it left the factory. Inside the truck is the six cassette CD player, First-Aid Kit, Spare Tire and tools. AutoCheck Report I have AutoCheck’s Vehicle History Report from when I purchased the car and it rates the car at 90. Accident Check: NONE Full History Below are the historical events for this vehicle listed in chronological order. Any discrepancies will be in bold text. 2016 German Grand Prix race recap: so-so racing, great questions
Mon, Aug 1 2016We can summarize the 2016 German Grand Prix in one sentence: Mercedes-AMG Petronas driver Lewis Hamilton started second on the grid, passed pole-sitter and teammate Nico Rosberg before the first corner, and dominate to the finish. In fact, Hamilton turned his engine power output down on Lap 3 and still took the checkered flag seven seconds ahead of Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo. Ricciardo's teammate Max Verstappen crossed the line another six seconds back. Rosberg fell to fourth at the first corner and couldn't find the pace to reel in the Red Bulls. His questionable pass on Verstappen didn't help when the stewards penalized Rosberg five seconds; the overtake reminded us of Rosberg's move on teammate Hamilton in Austria. That penalty turned into eight seconds when the Mercedes-AMG Petronas stopwatch didn't work in the pits. Ferrari pilots Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen finished fifth and sixth. Those six drivers all started in the top six, too. Behind them, on Lap 28 of the 67-lap race the next four drivers were Valtteri Bottas in the Williams, Nico Hulkenberg in the Force India, and Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso in McLarens. Low fuel and old tires put the kibosh on Alonso's pace just four laps from the finish, allowing Force India's Sergio Perez to pass, rounding out the top ten. The issues up for debate during the four-week break are far more interesting than the weekend's race. As bad as Ferrari's day might have been – and we'll get to that – Rosberg probably took the biggest hit, losing the race before the first corner for the second weekend in a row and falling 19 points behind Hamilton. Rosberg won the first four races of the season, then the teammates tripped over one another in Spain. Hamilton's won six of the seven races since Spain, Rosberg's best result in that time is a second-place in Hungary. Hamilton turned his engine down on Lap 3 (!) because he's used his entire season's allotment of five turbochargers and five MGU-Ks. Those early-season gremlins now have him on edge of grid penalties. Unless Hamilton's momentum cools off in August, however, that reliability danger might be the only dent in his armor. Rosberg, who once led the Championship by 43 points, will surely drown in his thoughts – and maybe schnapps – over the summer break. Whatever the Italian word for "meditation" is, there'll be a lot of it at Ferrari during the F1 summer break.
Daimler could sell off Li-Tec's EV battery business
Sat, May 24 2014Five-plus years may have been about enough time for Daimler AG to know whether it wanted to be in the battery-pack production business. The Mercedes-Benz parent may stop making electric-vehicle batteries and ultimately sell its Li-Tec battery-cell factory in Germany within two years, according to Bloomberg News which cites Manager Magazin. The beneficiary may be LG Electronics, which would likely take over battery-production duties for models such as Daimler's Smart ED battery-electric vehicle. Daimler is taking a number of steps to improve profit margins, which are thinner than those of its German rivals like BMW. Like its German competition, the company has lagged behind companies such as Nissan, Renault and Tesla Motors in terms of aggressively pursuing growth via plug-in vehicle sales. Daimler spokesman Hendrik Sackmann, in an e-mail to AutoblogGreen, would only say that the battery business is growing "rapidly" and that Li-Tec is developing "according to our plans." "Regarding Li-Tec, we are working on a concept for the future line-up," he added. "The battery cells for the successor of the Smart electric drive won't be provided by Li-Tec." Daimler in 2008 launched Li-Tec as a joint venture with Evonik, though Daimler recently put plans together to buy out Evonik's 50-percent share of Li-Tec, Bloomberg reported last month. Evonik's role was manufacturing electrodes and separators for batteries. Daimler also said last fall that it was looking to cooperate more extensively with Tesla in regards to electric vehicle development. The two companies first said they'd work together in 2009.
