Mint 2003 Sl500. Low Miles. Very Rare Color on 2040-cars
Latham, New York, United States
You are looking at a very rare, very beautiful 2003 SL500 with only 52,000 original miles. The color looks so different because it is Graphite Metallic. It looks charcoal in the daylight and black at night. The paint was part of the $7500 Designo Package. You may not notice the Designo Charcoal Interior with Heated, Cooled, and Massaging 12 way adjustable power seats with memory. The Massage and air conditioned seats were part of the SL3 comfort package ($1,250). You will also notice the SL1 Wood package which included the luxury wood wheel (it's beautiful) with leather on the steering wheel, gearknob, and interior trim. Of course, this car also had the SL2 package (at $5100 which included 18.5 x 8.5 (front) and 18x 9 (rear) wheels, body color front spoiler and side skirts. Although included in the purchase, the 18 inch wheels were replaced with the 20's you see in the picture. Bi-Xenon projector beam headlights ($900 option), Parktronic ($1035), and the voice activated Phone and audio package ($1,995) round out the huge option list. As for standard features - the list is even longer: one touch power windows power and heated mirrors, remote keyless locks, trip computer, navigation, cruise control, power tilt and telescoping steering wheel with speed proportional power steering and audio and cruise controls on steering wheel. The audio controls tailor the sound of the 100 watt Bose stereo with six disc cd changer, built in subwoofer and 8 speakers with speed sensitive volume control so you can enjoy the tunes top down at highway speeds. If the rush of wind is too much, you can put up the optional wind deflector and windows and cruise in relative quiet, while still enjoying the sun. Mercedes has pioneered so many safety innovations, it is no surprise that the list on its Roadster is exhaustive: four wheel vented disc brakes with ABS, electronic brakeforce distribution, traction control integrated with suspension control, seatbelt pretensioners, daytime running lights and front and rear fog/driving lights, adjustable body height and abc (roll control), auto headlights with high pressure washers, self leveling headlights, variable interment rain sensing wipers. What you cannot see from the pictures is that this beautiful car was in a minor accident and the right front was damaged. The airbags did not deploy and no frame damage occurred. However, the hood, right fender, headlight, grille, and bumper cover all needed to be repaired/replaced. The owner insisted on new Mercedes parts (which are extremely expensive), and the parts and labor, together exceeded 75% of the vehicle value and it was totaled. This means the owner is given the value of the car pre-accident, and the insurance company sells the car at auction branding the title "salvage, rebuildable". We replaced the damaged parts with donated parts from a car that was hit in the rear and the car was professionally repainted. The car underwent the New York State salvage program inspection, and was granted a rebuilt title, and is on the road currently. This allows immediate registration in most states. Obviously, you should check your state regulations. Please feel free to call with any questions (518.527.8635), or come inspect the car or have a buyers inspection performed. This car looks, runs, and drives like a 2014 car. This is your chance to own a great low mileage roadster, at a fraction of the cost of new, or retail. If you are the winning bidder and don't absolutely love the car upon pickup, I will refund your deposit in full, no questions asked! |

Recharge Wrap-up: Houston's bus revival, autonomous trucks on the Autobahn
Thu, Apr 7 2016A documentary shows how Houston, Texas significantly improved its outdated bus system. Called High Frequency: Why Houston is Back on the Bus, the short film describes how the city reimagined its bus system to become more efficient, more useful and more popular. Despite some opposition, the change has proven to be effective, with bus ridership up eight percent in three months, and light rail ridership up due to complementary bus routes. See the video above, and read more at CityLab. Automakers sent autonomous semi trucks on the German Autobahn as part of the European Truck Platooning Challenge of 2016. Mercedes-Benz, Volvo and Scania, among other groups, sent platoons of trucks between Stuttgart, Germany, and Rotterdam, Holland. In Mercedes's platoon of three trucks, the lead truck was fitted with lasers and other sensors to guide the convoy down the road. The two following trucks relied on vehicle-to-vehicle communication to trail 50 feet behind the lead, making room for cars to come between them and closing the gaps when able. The close following distance provides fuel economy gains of up to 10 percent in the rearward trucks on account of the reduction in drag. Read more at Hybrid Cars. Renault has reduced NOx emissions in its Euro 6b diesel vehicles in real world driving conditions. By improving its exhaust gas recirculation systems and NOx traps, nitrogen oxide emissions are cut in half on average, under certain driving conditions. The improvements will be included in vehicles leaving the factory beginning in July of 2016. Beginning in October, owners of Renault Euro 6b diesels can have the modifications added to their cars for free. Read more from Renault. 2016 Japanese Grand Prix | Hamilton faces the beginning of the end
Mon, Oct 10 2016We're told the Japanese mamushi viper haunts the undergrowth around Suzuka. If the pit viper attended the weekend's Japanese Grand Prix, it avoided human visitors but it put a nasty bite on Lewis Hamilton's championship hopes. The Briton, lined up second on the grid next to Mercedes-AMG Petronas teammate Nico Rosberg, flubbed his start. By the end of Turn 1 Hamilton was in eighth. Hamilton didn't suffer alone. The beginning of the race was a melee; many of the leaders got caught out either by the damp track or by having to swerve around slow starters. Only Mercedes' Nico Rosberg and Red Bull's Max Verstappen took off clean. The German rolled up another lights-to-flag victory despite the pass-happy race happening behind him. Rosberg was as unbothered by the Dutchman in second place as he was by the official Formula 1 camera feed. Verstappen didn't have much work to do until the final ten laps of the race. Thanks to the Mercedes team's strategy – or Ferrari waiting too long to pit – Hamilton got up to third on Lap 36 of 53. Unable to make a DRS-enabled pass on Verstappen down the front straight toward the end of the race, the Mercedes driver took a creative line through Spoon corner. Closing in down the back straight, Hamilton jinked inside to try a pass through the final chicane. Verstappen moved over in the braking zone while Hamilton was still behind him, closing the door on the move. Hamilton protested over his team radio, but seemed resigned to a third place finish after the incident – he didn't try any more passes in the final laps. The Ferrari duo of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen crossed the line fourth and fifth, respectively, in recovery drives after penalties. The scuderia tried an aggressive final stint after Hamilton successfully undercut Vettel in the pits. Ferrari put Vettel on the soft-compound Pirellis so he could hunt the Mercedes, but after a few laps of close pursuit the tires gave up and Vettel fell back. Daniel Ricciardo couldn't get comfortable in his Red Bull the entire weekend. The Aussie finished where he started, in sixth place. Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg followed the Red Bull home in two-up formation for Force India, Williams doing the same in the final two points-paying positions with Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas. Rosberg's 23rd career victory – his ninth of the season and first ever in Japan – puts him 33 points ahead of Hamilton in the Driver's Championship with four races left.
Race Recap: 2013 Japanese Grand Prix flips several scripts [spoilers]
Mon, 14 Oct 2013Japan's Suzuka circuit is a great track that all the drivers love, but it doesn't usually provide the most thrilling, head-to-head racing. Where it does excel, however, is with surprises and "What just happened there?!" moments, and this year it was no different.
It started with Mark Webber in his Infiniti Red Bull Racing out-qualifying his teammate Sebastian Vettel for the first time this year. They were followed closely by Lewis Hamilton in the first Mercedes-AMG Petronas, the still-solid Romain Grosjean again outdoing teammate Kimi Räikkönen, Felipe Massa racing for another seat in Formula One and putting his Ferrari in fifth, then Nico Rosberg in the second Mercedes, Nico Hülkenberg in the first Sauber, Fernando Alonso in the second Ferrari, and Räikkönen continuing to do himself no favors by qualifying tenth.
For the second year in a row, the lights going out was the cue to start the first corner action...
