1986 Mercedes-benz 560sl 107 Series on 2040-cars
New York, New York, United States
Not show quality but a good driver / beach car - mechanicals seem good, body better with not much sign of any paint, clear car fax and no obvious rust of any concern. recent state inspection and new oil etc, tires new Like all old Benz it drips a little oil and could do with a clean up, does go very well. Dash has a small crack and the wood work inside could do with a refurbish but is still ok - Becker stereo but doesn't work A good driver quality car at a very sensibel reserve - the body is straight pretty clean, there has been some paint but has been a high quality and car presents very well - mechanics and brakes are very good and car drives straight and stops well, electrics are all good. The Odometer stopped working but this is common problem and a simple gear fix to the back of the dash will solve - there is a clean car fax which shows no accidents and a history of very little driving. Car will make a great summer driver at a reasonable price. Note the the hard roof was from a different car and interior trim is different but the color combination looks great. Any questions please call Anthony 646 467.2026 Car is in Hamptons (amagansett) and test drive welcome - sale is a contract so please don't bid unless you want to own it as reserve is very reasonable for these cars that are gaining in popularity in this clean form. Paypal payment and I can be available for a shipping pick up. |

New Mercedes E-Class nearly exposed, may be Maybach
Mon, Sep 14 2015The all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class is marching closer and closer to production, with a new round of spy photos giving us our best look yet at the S-Class-inspired looks of the German brand's executive luxury car. There really is very little camouflage this time around – what's there looks more like the kind of plastic wrapping you'd see on a freshly imported vehicle at the port. In front, we can see the new E will wear similar LED accents to the S- and C-Class. The E-Class' big and little brothers also inspired the tail of the new model, where we can see slightly disguised, vertically oriented LED taillights. Prominent, enclosed exhausts are very similar to what we saw in our spy shots of the Mercedes-Maybach E-Class. Aside from the exhausts, this particular car also wears the same blingy wheels as the range-topping tester we spied last August. The thick-rimmed, multi-spoke design isn't the only giveaway to this car's luxurious intentions, though. Our last Maybach sighting showed a car completely covered in camo, making it difficult to tell just how large the rear doors are relative to the car we're seeing today. Instead of the doors, though, we suggest you look at the windows. Like the August spy photos, this prototype features tinted rear glass, which could perhaps indicate that we're looking at yet another example the second Mercedes-Maybach model. So is this yet another Maybach E-Class? We're leaning towards yes. The size of the back doors – and the rear quarter window, in particular – is close enough to what we saw last month, and the presence of tinted glass, the same exhausts, and the same wheels can't be discounted either.
AMG-powered Aston Martins still years away
Mon, 16 Sep 2013After flirting for several years, Mercedes-Benz and Aston Martin have finally tied the knot. Just don't expect to see any offspring to result from the union for at least three or four years.
This according to Auto Express, which spoke with Daimler chief Dr. Dieter Zetsche at the Frankfurt Motor Show last week. AE reports that a new range of AMG-developed turbocharged V8s, transmissions and electrical components will make their way into the successors to the current V8 Vantage and DB9, but that these models are still a few years off.
Purists might balk at the thought of a Mercedes-powered Aston holding true to the brand's heritage. But while David Brown (for whom the DB range is named) may have steered clear of shoehorning in Detroit muscle into his cars, the entirety of the company's current range is powered by engines borrowing technology from Ford, and that arrangement seems to have worked well for Aston until now. And if you're still skeptical, look no further than Pagani and its AMG-sourced engines and you should have all the proof you need that the new relationship between Daimler and Aston could be a success.
