Stunning example of exceptionally well cared for original condition Mercedes 560 SL. Exterior

paint has a deep gloss finish and is in excellent condition. The chrome is shiny as new with no pitting. The hard top is in perfect condition. The leather interior has no rips or tears. The carpets are original and in perfect condition. This gorgeous car has absolutely NO rust anywhere. All the chrome (doors, bumpers, mirrors, grille, ashtray, side molding) is perfect. All the gauges work
except the clock. It has the original Becker radio which works. The a/c blows cold and has just been recharged.

Mechanically this car needs nothing. The engine runs quiet and strong. You can barely hear it when it idles. The 227 hp engine runs strong and is responsive as it shifts through all the 4 gears. This car is an amazing cruiser. The transmission shifts very smoothly with absolutely no clunking in any gear or reverse. The 560's performance is far superior to any other previous model, especially the 380 which I have owned. This 560 is fast, smooth, quiet, and very exhilarating to drive.

This can has been maintained and serviced as required. For example last month the following
service was performed to insure safety and performance: Replacement of lower balljoints, 4 wheel
alignment, rear brake pad and rotor replacement, both valve cover gaskets were replaced, new timing tensioner, replacement of R134A freon, replacement of filters, fluids, solvents, and oils. New set of 4 MichelinMXV4 tires  205/65R15MXV. New fuel injectors(2). Steering box was adjusted.

This beautiful classic Mercedes needs nothing mechanically. All key and major components perform well and as they should. The soft top will need to be repaired or replaced due to 2 small tears. The car has a clear title and is accident free. No insurable events, ever. I have all the original books. This car has 120,500 miles and is driven daily. I can tell you that from my experience most higher mileage cars are better maintained and in better condition simple because they are used more. These R107 model engines were meant to last and are often driven far in excess of the mileage on this pristine car. In summary;

Superb paint, interior, chrome.
Well maintained
Major recent service
Have books and records
Clear title
No accidents
Cold a/c
New tires
Historic NJ registration

The car has a clear title and it has never been in any type of accident.

Brabus 800 Roadster is a power-mad aristocrat

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

If we're being completely honest, we haven't exactly been in love with the aesthetics of the sixth-generation Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. It's mostly a front-end issue, with its glowering eagle-eye headlamps and upright, dinner-plate-sized Three-Pointed Star coming across to us as overwrought. That's particularly troublesome for a roadster whose history has of the most elegant designs of all time in its back catalog. Somehow, the new R231 generation's brash visuals seem more at home on this Brabus 800 Roadster to us.
That's probably because the high-dollar German tuner has turned up the wick on the SL's visuals even further, with carbon fiber bodywork, a more aggressive aero kit, matte hood scoop and complex two-finish wheels. It's all-the-way committed to its brashness, in other words - and justifiably so. Anything with 800 horsepower and 1,047 pound-feet of torque has earned the right to look however it wants, right?
Brabus started with the SL65 and its not-exactly-underpowered 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12, and went to town, fitting their own turbocharger and intercooler system, along with a less-restrictive exhaust system with driver-selectable sound levels and new engine electronics. The result is a 3.7-second 0-62 mph time, an electronically limited top whack of 217 mph... and one seriously compromised toupée.

Gullwing America turns SLS AMG Roadster into stunning 1955 300 SC redux

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

Gullwing America specializes in what it calls "retro styling meets modern technology." It's next demonstration of that is the convertible above, a stylized recreation of the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SC (inset) supported by the structure of a 2012 SLS AMG Roadster. Commissioned by a client in Eastern Europe, the resulting car is called the 300 SLC.
The hand-formed aluminum bodywork required just a few changes to the SLS AMG Roadster, namely reworking the headlights into a stacked arrangement of LEDs and relocating the pop-up spoiler behind the cabin. The retro grille and long, straight hood evoke the past, the custom exhaust, height-adjustable suspension, 21-inch wheels up front and 22-inch wheels in back, however, stray a little further from history. The 300 SLC will come with a hardtop and be one-of-a-kind, making it even rarer than its inspiration, of which 92 were made.
If you have any more questions, they can probably be answered in the high-res photo gallery above and press release below.

A weird end to a weird F1 season | 2016 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix recap

Mon, Nov 28 2016

The 2016 Formula 1 season ended with a bang that came from a direction no one expected. Lewis Hamilton put his Mercedes-AMG Petronas on pole position and then got away clean to start the race. Teammate Nico Rosberg did the next best thing, lining up in second and following right behind Hamilton for most of the race. Other than Rosberg's wicked pass on Red Bull's Max Verstappen to retake second place on Lap 20, things stayed all quiet at the front. Come Lap 32 of the 55-lap race, however, observers began to wonder why Hamilton was driving so slow. The Brit, working every trick he could think of to win the Driver's World Championship instead of just the race, dogged it out front trying to push Rosberg back into the chasing mix of Red Bulls and Ferraris. Over the next 15 laps Hamilton's race engineer repeatedly radioed ideal lap times. Hamilton only occasionally hit the times until finally saying, "I suggest you let us race." When the one-stopping Sebastian Vettel blasted his Ferrari from sixth to third, nosing up to Rosberg's gearbox, Mercedes team honcho Paddy Lowe got on the radio to instruct Hamilton to go faster. Hamilton replied that if he wasn't going to win the championship he didn't care about winning the race. Hamilton repeatedly zoomed through the first sector to keep everyone behind, then clogged up the works through Sectors 2 and 3. The problem with his plan was that the Red Bulls in fourth and fifth couldn't get close enough to threaten the trio at the front; even if Vettel had got by Rosberg, Rosberg would still win the Championship with a third-place finish. As it happened, Rosberg finished second behind the disconsolate Hamilton. Vettel took third, followed by Red Bull drivers Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo, then the second Ferrari piloted by Kimi Raikkonen in sixth. Nico Hulkenberg took seventh, beating Force India teammate Sergio Perez for the last time as an intra-team rivalry. Felipe Massa closed his F1 career with ninth place in a Williams chassis that he got to take home as a gift from the team. Fernando Alonso scored the final point for McLaren, a touch of sweet for the team after the bitterness of Jenson Button retiring on Lap 12 with suspension damage. Rosberg's second place earned him 385 points for the season, enough to take the World Driver's Championship from Hamilton by just five points. Some have put the title down to Rosberg's consistency, others to his car's reliability.
