EXTREMELY NICE ORIGINAL 1985 MERCEDES 380SL CONVERTIBLE.2 OWNER CALIFORNIA CAR.IT WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW AT THE HOUSE OF IMPORTS IN BUENA PARK.I DO HAVE ALL THE BOOKS,MANUALS,AND MAINTENANCE RECORDS.2 ORIGINAL FACTORY KEYS.THE CAR JUST PASSED SMOG WITH GREAT READINGS.THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS JUST REPLACED AS IT WAS NECESSARY TO PASS SMOG.THE CAR RUNS PERFECTLY.IT IS SO SMOOTH AND QUIET,YOU CAN HARDLY HEAR IT RUN.THE CAR DRIVES DOWN THE ROAD PERFECTLY.NO PLAY IN THE STEERING.TRANSMISSION SHIFTS IN ALL GEARS PROPERLY.BRAKES AND SUSPENSION ARE INCREDIBLY SURE FOOTED.IT WOULD MAKE ANY KIND DRIVE WITH NO PROBLEMS.CLIMATE CONTROL FOR A/C AND HEATING OPERATE VERY WELL.IT DOES HAVE ANT-LOCK BRAKES.THIS IS THE LAST YEAR FOR THE 380SL MODEL,SO IT CAME STANDARD WITH THE HEAVY DUTY DUAL TIMING CHAIN. THE PAINT IS METALLIC BLACK,CODE #199,WHICH MANY CALL PEARL BLACK.IT IS VERY RARE FOR THE 1985 MODEL. IT BECAME A STANDARD COLOR IN THE 560SL MODELS.GORGEOUS PAINT.YOU WON'T FIND MUCH OF ANY DEFECTS ON THE CAR.NO RUST.NO ACCIDENTS.ALWAYS KEPT INSIDE.I HAVE THE MATCHING HARDTOP.IT IS IN GREAT SHAPE.PERFECT HEADLINER. PALOMINO INTERIOR IS SUPER CLEAN AND IN AMAZING CONDITION,ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU CONSIDER THAT NOTHING HAS EVER BEEN DONE TO IT.IT STILL LOOKS AS GOOD AS IT DID WHEN IT WAS 2-3 YEARS OLD.NICE ORIGINAL DASH.SEATS HAVE NO WEAR.STAIN-FREE CARPETS.IT ALSO HAS A NICE BLACK CANVAS CONVERTIBLE TOP.NICE REAR WINDOWS YOU CAN STILL SEE THROUGH PERFECTLY.NO WEAR MARKS ON THE CANVAS. BUMPERS,INCLUDING THE STAINLESS AND RUBBERS, HAVE ALMOST NO WEAR.THE REST OF THE TRIM ON THE CAR ARE IN MATCHING CONDITION.ORIGINAL CHROME MERCEDES RIMS ARE IN SUPER SHAPE.NO FADING OR PITTING. The first trailer for Top Gear's 24th season shows a hands-free drag race
Tue, Dec 27 2016In the excitement over Amazon's new motoring show, it's important to remember that there's a certain series from the BBC that's attempting to get its mojo back for a 24th season. Yes, we're talking about Top Gear. Since Chris Evans' departure earlier this year, Top Gear news has been relatively sparse, particularly as The Grand Tour and its hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond seized headlines. But on Christmas, watchers of the series' YouTube channel caught a glimpse of the first scene from the next season. Featuring hosts Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris, and Rory Reid in what looks like a trio of old, dilapidated cars. We're thinking TG is running a taxi comparison. There's a London black cab and a Mercedes-Benz W210 – a favorite of European cabbies – but we aren't sure where Harris' boxy wagon fits in. Did the Volvo 850 Estate ever serve as a livery vehicle? But it's the basis for this comparison that's weird, because the hosts appear to be having a no-hands drag race. The cars veer off in different directions, traveling across what looks like a snow-covered dirt lot. We're assuming hilarity ensues. And while we don't quite know what they're hoping to accomplish, we are looking forward to watching it go down. Top Gear's 24th season doesn't have an official air date, and the video ends only with a cryptic "Coming Soon." Expect to hear more in the next few months.
These cars are headed to the Great Crusher In The Sky
Fri, 24 Aug 2012It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).

Mercedes AMG and Cigarette Racing debut 2,220-HP electric motor boat
Thu, 14 Feb 2013Take the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-Cell, stretch it and take off the wheels then make it float and you've basically got the just-unveiled Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept. Powered by an all-electric powertrain that offers 2,200 horsepower and 2,213 pound-feet of torque (and uses "numerous components" taken from the not-quite-as-yellow SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive), the sleek concept is being called the "world's most powerful electric drive powerboat." What that means is a top speed of over 100 miles per hour from four 60-kWh lithium-ion batteries and two banks of six liquid-cooled, permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors. And the 240 kWh of total energy should provide plenty of juice out on the water.
Launched (but not literally) at the Miami International Boat Show today, the Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept is the result of a partnership between Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing. The boat is 38 feet long (much longer than the 15-foot SLS) and is plastered with AMG branding on the sides and top of the bow above the matte chrome yellow paint (officially called AMG Electricbeam mango). Two 220-kW chargers can refill the batteries, dockside, in about seven hours.
The idea of a powerful electric boat is nothing new (Henrik Fisker talked about a plug-in hybrid watercraft late last year), but this is the first time we've seen Mercedes put its EV technology on the water.
