1974 Mercedes 450SL, 52,000 Miles, This 450SL is a clean,original, unmolested car, with actual mileage at 52K. You can tell just byseeing and driving this car, everything is working, very tight and responsivedrive. I purchased this car from the third owner, who was selling it because heis retiring, selling his home and downsizing his car collection. The car hasalways been looked after by professional Mercedes mechanics and has been garagedand well cared for its entire life. It was Just services; 4 new tires, 4 Shocks,fuel hoses/filter new distributer cap, rotor, points, ballast resistors & sparkplugs. All Fluids changed (brake, antifreeze, transmission, and differential).This car idles smooth, accelerates without hesitation, shifting with easethrough every gear. The Heater works, the A/C will need a recharge, buteverything is there and appears to be functional. The paint and body are in verygood condition, shiny and clean; everything appears to be original and wellcared for. There is no rust or dents on the car; no signs of previous bodydamage and the glass is good. The driver side fender has several small scratchesfrom what looks like mechanics belt. Barely noticeable, but I want to be fullytransparent, as these are the only marks on the car! The exterior color is whitewith saddle interior. The interior is in excellent like new condition, with veryminimal wear or patina, the carpets are like new, clean and not faded, and thedash is crack free. X1, 3 Series power BMW back into global luxury autos sales lead
Thu, 14 Mar 2013BMW managed to eke ahead of Audi for the global luxury sales crown in February. According to Bloomberg, BMW saw deliveries swell by 7 percent in February, besting the 3.2 percent jump enjoyed by Audi and giving BMW a 407-unit delivery lead over its rival last month. Mercedes-Benz, meanwhile, continued to falter, with the brand selling some 37,229 fewer machines than BMW, whose factories are running at full capacity to keep up with demand. Models like the X1 (shown above) enjoyed a sales increase of 40 percent in February while the company's bread-and-butter 3 Series jumped by 26 percent.
Mercedes-Benz hopes to stem its continued market share loss with the addition of the entry-level CLA sedan to its portfolio in April. The company is set to roll out an updated version of its cash-cow E-Class at the same time, and a new-generation S-Class will follow along shortly thereafter. Meanwhile, the company is increasing production to meet demand for its A and B-Class models.

As I am about to nod off on my long leg flight from Minneapolis to Anchorage ahead of driving to the Arctic Circle, the friendly twenty-something Alaskan knitting furiously in the seat next to me pauses and says, "When you're driving up there, don't open your windows." In the dead of winter? I hadn't planned on cruising alfresco, but her warning to keep the glazing snugged against the weatherstripping is one I would take to heart. She continues: "If you leave 'em open, a fox is liable to jump right in. There are lots of rabid foxes up there, and they leap into your car and just Go. To. Town." And here I was, thinking that a curious bear or maybe an ill-placed moose in the road was going to be my biggest potential four-legged threat. 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK250 Bluetec gets 33 mpg, priced from $38,950*
Tue, 30 Apr 2013It's been more than a year since we first saw the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK250 Bluetec unveiled at the 2012 New York Auto Show, but it looks like the compact diesel crossover is finally starting to roll into dealerships. Those wanting to buy a diesel GLK will only have to pony up an extra $1,500 over a base, gas-powered GLK350, as the GLK250's starting price is listed at $38,590 (*not including $905 destination charge).
The turbocharged 2.1-liter four-cylinder diesel produces 200 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and Mercedes-Benz has also provided some fuel economy numbers for this model, with claimed EPA estimates of 24 miles per gallon city and 33 mpg highway. There is no listing for the GLK250 on the EPA's website yet, but the figures represent significant increase over the GLK350's lackluster 19 mpg city and 25 mpg highway figures, which are for the rear-wheel drive model. The GLK250 comes standard with the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system - a $2,000 option on GLK350 - meaning that if you want an all-wheel-drive version of the 2013 GLK, it's actually cheaper to opt for the diesel model.
