1955 Mercedes Benz 190sel on 2040-cars

Year:1955 Mileage:32000
Location:

Woodbury, Connecticut, United States

Woodbury, Connecticut, United States

This is a 1955 MERCEDES BENZ 190SL.  The V.I.N. plate, which was located on the firewall has been removed and is missing. This, I was told, was due to a financial dispute between the previous owner and the person hired to paint it. Apparently they had a major financial falling out and it is suspected that the VIN plate was removed in retaliation by the painter. The vehicle was in the process of being restored, by a relative and, for personal reasons the project lagged too long and was aborted. In any case the car should be considered a “Parts Car”. The engine does turn freely and does have compression on all cylinders. I have tried to photograph all included parts. All bumpers are like new and much were re-chromed. They are  still wrapped up with newspaper dated 1997. The interior, as you can see is in excellent condition with no tears. All door panels are also in great condition along with the convertible top. I have posted many pictures here in an attempt display the vehicle as best as possible. Please feel free to ask additional questions and request additional pictures. The car is located here in Woodbury, CT. I can deliver the car if within a 75 mile radius. Otherwise, the buyer needs to pay and make arrangements  for the transportation and delivery. I am more than willing to help at this end. Additional pictures on request and I can be reached by calling 203-598-8192.Regards,

Karl

On Sep-15-14 at 11:58:52 PDT, seller added the following information:

I have added 2 YouTube videos to help address some of the questions concerning rust , undercoating and work that has been done. Please go to youtube and performa search for " MVI 1459 Splitwindow Coupe" and

"MVI 1460 Splitwindow Coupe ". I am being asked whether there are parts missing. Yes. I am sure that there are parts missing and others that need to be replaced. For example the front grill, the chrome strips over the wings (above the wheel)  and 1 tie rod is also missing. This is definitely a car that needs someone experienced in the art of restoration.  We are presently looking for any documentation that belongs to the car. I will keep you posted. Meanwhile please assume that the only document included will be a bill of sale.  This is why we are selling this car as a "Parts Car".
Thank you

Missouri Mercedes dealer offering free Smart with every SLS AMG purchase

Wed, 05 Dec 2012

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT is an exquisite sports car that probably needs no help flying off dealer lots, even with a starting price of almost $200,000, but Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City has come up with an interesting incentive to sweeten the deal. For buyers who purchase a new SLS AMG from dealer stock before the end of the year, the dealership is throwing in a new Smart Fortwo from its inventory at no charge... with a required coupon no less.
In addition to being a great tactic to get a little free press, the spare car also makes sense as an alternative to the SLS, which measures more than 15-feet long - almost twice the length of a Fortwo - and has a 563-horsepower engine that sucks down gas at the rate of 13 miles per gallon in city driving (and even that's provided you don't give in to the devil on your shoulder). Plus, at the end of the day, this really isn't that big of an incentive. Being given a slow-selling $12,490 car for the purchase of a model starting at $199,500 represents about a six percent incentive, which is along the lines of a $1,900 rebate for a $30,000 car.
To get the free Smart, just visit the Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City Facebook page, redeem the coupon and then go buy yourself a new SLS AMG. Congratulations!

Foreign automakers pay from $38 to $65 per hour to non-union workers

Sun, Mar 29 2015

As leaders for the United Auto Workers gather in Detroit for their Special Convention on Collective Bargaining to work out the negotiating stance for this year's new labor agreements with the Detroit 3 automakers, what they most want to do is figure out how to eliminate the two-tier wage scale. However, the lower Tier 2 wage has allowed the domestic automakers to reduce their labor costs, hire more workers, and compete better with their import competition. As it stands, per-hour labor rates including benefits are $58 at General Motors, $57 at Ford, and $48 at Fiat-Chrysler – a reflection of FCA's much greater number of Tier 2 workers. The Center for Automotive Research released a study of labor rates (including benefits) that put numbers to what the imports pay: Mercedes-Benz pays the most, at an average of $65 per hour, Volkswagen pays the least, at $38 per hour, and BMW is just a hair above that at $39 per hour. Among the Detroit competitors, Honda workers earn an average of $49 per hour, at Toyota it's $48 per hour, Nissan is $42 per hour, and Hyundai-Kia pays $41 per hour. The lower import wages are aided by their greater use of temporary workers compared to the domestics. Automotive News says the ten-dollar gap between those foreign camakers and the domestics turns out to about an extra $250 per car in labor, which adds up quickly when you're pumping out many millions of cars. That $250-per-car number is one that, come negotiating time, the Detroit 3 will want to reduce, as the UAW is trying to raise both Tier 1 and Tier 2 wages. Another wrinkle is that the domestic carmakers are considering the wide adoption of a third wage level lower than Tier 2. Some workers who do minor tasks like assembling parts trays kits and battery packs already make less than Tier 2, but the UAW will be quite wary about cementing yet another wage scale at the bottom of the system while it's trying to fight a bigger battle at the top. Best car infotainment systems: From UConnect to MBUX, these are our favorites

Sun, Jan 7 2024

Declaring one infotainment system the best over any other is an inherently subjective matter. You can look at quantitative testing for things like input response time and various screen load times, but ask a room full of people that have tried all car infotainment systems what their favorite is, and you’re likely to get a lot of different responses. For the most part, the various infotainment systems available all share a similar purpose. They aim to help the driver get where they're going with navigation, play their favorite tunes via all sorts of media playback options and allow folks to stay connected with others via phone connectivity. Of course, most go way beyond the basics these days and offer features like streaming services, in-car performance data and much more. Unique features are aplenty when you start diving through menus, but how they go about their most important tasks vary widely. Some of our editors prefer systems that are exclusively touch-based and chock full of boundary-pushing features. Others may prefer a back-to-basics non-touch system that is navigable via a scroll wheel. You can compare it to the phone operating system wars. Just like some prefer Android phones over iPhones, we all have our own opinions for what makes up the best infotainment interface. All that said, our combined experience tells us that a number of infotainment systems are at least better than the rest. WeÂ’ve narrowed it down to five total systems in their own subcategories that stand out to us. Read on below to see our picks, and feel free to make your own arguments in the comments. Best infotainment overall: UConnect 5, various Stellantis products Ram 1500 Uconnect Infotainment System Review If thereÂ’s one infotainment system that all of us agree is excellent, itÂ’s UConnect. It has numerous qualities that make it great, but above all else, UConnect is simple and straightforward to use. Ease of operation is one of the most (if not the single most) vital parts of any infotainment system interface. If youÂ’re expected to be able to tap away on a touchscreen while driving and still pay attention to the road, a complex infotainment system is going to remove your attention from the number one task at hand: driving. UConnect uses a simple interface that puts all of your key functions in a clearly-represented row on the bottom of the screen. Tap any of them, and it instantly pulls up that menu.
