Mercedes Benz Gl320 Cdi 2007 G Class Diesel Power Gl 320 Turbo on 2040-cars
United States
This amazing GL turbo diesel, in the last year before the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) additive is required, is a beautiful exceptionally clean vehicle. So, you don't have to play with the Uric Acid. Which is nice.
You know what it is, so I won't go into every feature. This example will achieve 28 mpg on the road. It has the I-pod connector kit and most all the goodies that you can imagine on this model, including a trailer hitch. Note: I am a 'Mercedes person' with great experience in the marque, and have personally owned and handled hundreds. However, I am truly unable to tell if the interior is leather or MB-TEX. I would just as soon it be either, but the Tex is a 'lifetime' interior - I can attest to that. There are no bad smells in this car either, and no pets or smoking. Pictures uploaded were severely limited - so we will have to deal with that. If you want more, then you know what to do. Prefer you come see the car, but if we have do handle all by internet, there are ways to do that. In some cases, customers have hired an independent inspector to look the car over. We can provide you a list of folks who do that and you can compare to your own. I will be happy to talk about this GL on the phone and prefer that mode of communication. Please write for my number or send yours. Get ready for Happy Motoring diesel style! The best! |

Online Find of the Day: Lexus-engined Mercedes pickup is a vintage hybrid
Tue, 16 Sep 2014You have to love someone who gets incredibly committed to a very weird idea. What you see for sale here is a right-hand drive 1971 Mercedes-Benz 220D in South Africa, but this old Mercedes is now converted into a pickup, complete with bed cover, and there's big secret under the hood, too.
The pickup conversion appears well done based on seller Sedgefield Classic Cars' photos. Even the tonneau cover fits well. You could almost believe that this Mercedes lived its life as a Chevrolet El Camino-like pickup from the very beginning.
However, the rear-quarters conversion might not be the weirdest thing about this Mercedes. The original diesel is gone from the engine bay in favor of a Lexus V8. It seems really odd to pop the hood and find a Japanese mill in this German car, but the photos make it look like a fairly well performed swap. So, bravo to the crazy thinking. According to the seller speaking to Autoblog by email, "as far as we can establish, this was done a few years ago, with all Lexus components."

Formula 1 seeking independent engine supplier
Mon, Oct 26 2015Formula 1 could get a new engine supplier in the near future, if Bernie Ecclestone and the independent teams gets their way. According to Autosport, the FIA is soon to open the contract up for bids, and there are already several manufacturers that have expressed interest. Currently Mercedes, Ferrari, Renault, and Honda supply engines – both to their own premier teams (Red Bull and McLaren for the latter two) but also to other teams like Williams, Sauber, and Toro Rosso. Because the new turbocharged V6 hybrid power units cost those four suppliers so much to develop, they're charging their customer teams big bucks – around $20-30 million per season – to provide the engines. These costs are much higher than the $10 million or so it used to cost to purchase a V8 engine under the previous regulations. Ecclestone figures it's time to bring in another supplier who will not run their own team and not play favorites, but will supply engines to private teams at a lower cost. There are already a number of potential suppliers under consideration. One of them is said to be Cosworth, which has a long history in the series stretching back to 1963. The British firm stepped back between 2007 and 2009, returned in 2010, and dropped out again after 2013. The development could be of particular benefit to Red Bull, which has been unable to find an engine supplier and could be forced out of the series as a result. The team has long been powered by Renault, but that relationship has grown sour. And the other three engine manufacturers have not been forthcoming in offering an alternative arrangement for the team.
