THIS IS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY. HERE IS A 2000 MERCEDES CLK430 CABRIOLET. IT IS IN IMMACULATE MINT ORIGINAL CONDITION WITH ONLY 31K MILES. SERVICED BY MB DEALERS SINCE NEW, IT IS IN PRISTINE MECHANICAL AND COSMETIC CONDITION, AND WAS DRIVEN LESS THAN 3K MILES PER YEAR! SERVICED RELIGIOUSLY AT MB SINCE NEW, CLEAN CARFAX, NO ACCIDENTS, NO PRIOR BODYWORK EVER, AND FULL PRE-PURCHASE INSPECTION ALREADY DONE BY AN AUTHORIZED MB DEALER WITH A HUGE THUMBS-UP. THIS CLK430 CONVERTIBLE IS READY TO GO! -- Here it is in all its glory --

Please let me stop you now if you are looking for an inexpensive, needy, or average CLK430 convertible like most of them for sale. This is not that car. I am hired by clients to buy over fifty European cars each year, and I can tell you there is ONE thing I look for: a car with a no-expense spared, documented, service and maintenance history. This is that car. On top of that, it drives tight like new, and the cosmetics are impeccable. It has only gone 31K miles and looks like new. THAT’S why you buy this car. Ask any other seller if they will take their fourteen year old CLK430 cab to an authorized MB dealer for a full pre-purchase inspection and fix whatever is found. The answer will most likely be NO. Please understand, with these cars, you get what you pay for. I paid top-dollar to get this car, because it DESTROYED every other one I looked at for cosmetics and mechanicals.

Here's the deal:

-- This is a 2000 Mercedes CLK430 cabriolet in 744 brilliant silver metallic over 217 dove grey leather interior, with matching grey carpets and headliner. It is a 2-owner car, always MB dealer serviced, has only 31,xxx original miles, looks like a million bucks, and was always garaged so no rust or rot anywhere. This car was LOVED, and has NEVER had any accidents or bodywork. There is hardly a ding, dent, scuff, or scratch anywhere…it’s unreal. --

-- Exterior 9.90 out of 10 - Fantastic overall condition paint, body, glass, and trim. No dings. No dents. No scuffs. This CLK430 looks amazing, with a deep shine to the silver paint that's like looking into an endless mirror. This car looks great even under fluorescent light in a garage. Imagine getting a 14 year old metallic car with no swirl marks or spiderwebs in the paint….amazing! --

-- The lower side-body moldings are in great shape. The chrome, rubber, glass, and trim is all excellent and original. Headlights were protected by Xpel film for 15 years which was just removed, and they are nearly flawless. No oxidation, fade, wear, rust, etc., just as you’d expect of a 31K mile car. Look at the body panels.....they are laser straight. --

-- This CLK430 cabriolet is nicely optioned including AMG sport package, multi-contour orthopedic front seats, COMAND navigation, stability and traction control, and more. Wow! --

-- It currently wears its OEM 17” five-star AMG alloy wheels, all true and in excellent condition. The tires are getting low in the rear, but at the BIN price I will include a near-new set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires in size 235/45/17 with 90% tread remaining. This CLK430 cab goes arrow-straight down the road at high speed with no shimmy, pull, or anything else. --

-- Interior 9.5 out of 10 - The interior overall including all seating and door leather, seat padding, dash, console, aftermarket wood trim, and carpets are in great original condition. No dash cracks, carpet rips, and nearly zero wear of any kind on the leather. Everything looks and feels new. This is not the typical worn CLK - this car was garaged every day of its life and it shows. No refinishing either, this is the ORIGINAL UNTOUCHED interior, without even any type of detailing, just a wash and a vacuum off the transport truck. --

-- The door panels and trim are also in great shape, like the rest of the car. --

-- Even the trunk and the spare are mint. --

-- The top operates perfectly, and is clean and looks as new as the rest of the car. No wind or water leaks at all. --

-- This CLK430 convertible also looks great with the top up! --

-- Electrical 10 out of 10 - All lights, switches, radio, windows, wipers, seat motors, top motors, and power mirrors work perfectly. Remote key and interior lights all operating as they should. --

-- The service history is great, extensive and documented all at the MB dealer. Regular repairs, and most importantly, regular maintenance and oil changes always performed over its entire life. Recent services include new navigation unit, antenna, alignment, trans service, coolant flush, and more. All new front and rear brake pads AND rotors done less than 10K miles ago. The HVAC system is fast to respond, and operates perfectly with scalding hot heat and ice-cold A/C. --

-- Mechanical 10 out of 10 - Engine starts, idles, runs, and revs to redline in every gear smooth and strong. Transmission is smooth yet very aggressive, and downshifts eagerly to thrust you forward. No abrupt engagement, just silky smooth shifts. You can NOT tell when this car is changing gears! This CLK runs at high speed with no vibrations or noises. There are no leaks....NONE. No oil leaks, no top leaks, no nothing. --

-- This CLK430 cabriolet has passed THREE inspections with flying colors. A pre-purchase overall inspection with test drive, a suspension/brake/wheel/tire/exhaust inspection by my mechanic, and an authorized MB dealer has gone over the car as well. After their final and thorough inspection for any problems, she’s ready to roll. --

-- Engine is strong and eager to run, transmission smooth and ready to drop down two gears at your command to speed you past slower traffic. Brakes are solid and pedal feel is firm. Suspension is tight like new, no worn tie rod ends, ball joints, struts, or anything else. Steering nicely weighted with no play in the box. ZERO leaks or noises. You will NEVER see an engine bay like this on a 14 year old car again! --

-- This CLK430 comes with its owners manuals, working remote key, clean carfax, and build sheet/service history showing lots and lots of service and maintenance at the MB dealer since new, all the way back to day one! No expense spared maintenance and repairs. --

-- This CLK does not have any signs of wear, no rubber rot, no leaks, no lukewarm A/C....NOTHING. Everything is in fantastic shape, and at 31K miles, it's not even close to broken in yet! The driver's side rear view mirror glass is in place and clear, but does not adjust although the mirror motor works fine. The glass (only) should be replaced. --

-- If someone selects the buy-it-now option, I will provide the following: The near-new 17” Michelin Pilot Sport performance tires mentioned above. A full $200 detailing including engine bay, carpet shampoo, leather conditioning, orbital polishing, etc. I'll also supply Toughguard protectant for the paint, which you have to see to believe. It will bead water, seal, and UV protect the paint for FIVE YEARS, GUARANTEED....no future waxings necessary. I know it sounds like a B.S. late-night TV claim, but it's not; dealers charge $695 and up for this stuff, and it really works. I will also include floor mats and Mercedes OEM touch-up paint. That’s close to $1500 in value! --

-- Nits: A few tiny touch-up marks to the rear bumper cover, and some minor chips from being on the road for fourteen years. THAT’S IT! NOTHING ELSE! The car is as perfect as you will ever see for a 2000 CLK430 convertible, and you’ll never see another one with 31K miles, that’s for sure! --

-- I have great feedback, and have recently sold dozens of high-end cars that the new owners are thrilled with. They and others have offered to act as references to verify that I am honest in my descriptions of the cars I sell, and you are welcome to contact them. --

THIS IS A ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME CAR, AND IT'S AN UNBELIEVABLE DEAL!!

Carlsson turns Mercedes-Benz SLK into 610-HP hill-climb clawer

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

Carlsson's race-tuned versions of the Mercedes-Benz SLK have been taking checkered flags for years, and we won't be surprised if its SLK 340 hill climber fares any different. Developed by multiple German and Swiss hill climb champion Reto Meisel, the carbon-bodied SLK 340 with lightweight brakes and a closed underbody weighs 1,716 pounds. Propelling that tiny bit of weight is a 3.4-liter V8 from Judd with 610 horsepower, and it rolls on 18-inch wheels shod in Avon tires.
It will debut at the Geneva Motor Show before beginning its racing campaigns in the summer. This one won't just tear up roads in Europe, though - Meisel says he plans on bringing it to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The press release below has more details.

Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury fully revealed, tea set and all

Tue, Apr 24 2018

Mercedes has officially unveiled its Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury concept following a leak of most of the details last week. As we learned last week, the unusual looking sedan-SUV crossbreed is fully electric with four motors producing a whopping 750 horsepower. Combined with an 80 kWh battery, Mercedes estimates it should have a range of over 200 miles on the European test cycle. It also can handle extremely fast charging from DC chargers outputting 350 kW. Mercedes claims this allows it to gain 60 miles of range in 5 minutes. But there are a number of interesting details that weren't leaked. Many of them have to do with the car's Chinese inspiration, which is perhaps not that surprising for a car that makes its debut in China. The body style is the first influence, which Mercedes says combines the sedan and SUV, the best-selling car classes in the country. On the inside, there are a pair of cues inspired by China. The first is the ebony wood trim that Mercedes calls "Magic Wood." The company says it's very similar to that used in Chinese furniture. In the back, between the two highly adjustable white leather seats with rose-gold stitching, is a complete tea set. And not only does it contain all the containers for tea, but it actually has a variety of teas on offer. They're there to be used in conjunction with the car's relaxation modes that combine lighting, music and scents to set the mood. It's hard to say whether this concept will spawn a production model, since the body style is unlike any currently offered by Mercedes-Benz. But with the crossover SUV market staying hot, and competitors such as Audi and BMW bringing out extra-large SUVs, we wouldn't be surprised if Mercedes eventually offers at least a Maybach-level version of its GLS-Class, if not its own model. Weekly Recap: Autonomous driving goes commercial in Nevada

Sat, May 9 2015

Nevada granted Daimler Trucks North America the first license to run an autonomous commercial vehicle on public roads in the United States Tuesday, marking another milestone in the technology's rapid advancement. Gov. Brian Sandoval and Daimler truck chief Wolfgang Bernhard promptly used the license to lap Highway 15 near Las Vegas in a newly revealed Freightliner Inspiration Truck. It was a clear signal that autonomous driving is big-rig reality, though it's still a long way from widespread use. Nevada certified two of Daimler's Freightliner Inspiration Trucks, which use the company's Highway Pilot system with a stereo camera, radar, and lane-keeping collision-prevention features to regulate the brakes and steering. The radar component has a long-range sensor that can cover 820 feet at an 18-degree angle and a shorter-range unit that stretches 230 feet at a 130-degree angle. The Inspiration trucks are based on the existing Freightliner Cascadia Evolution model used on US roads. In addition to the autonomous technologies, it also has futuristic design cues, including blue lighting in the front and a new hood and grille. While there are only two Freightliner Inspiration trucks in existence, Daimler expects to bring the Highway Pilot system into mass-produced big rigs by 2025, in time to capitalize on the market's predicted growth. The German truckmaker predicts the global hauling market will triple by 2050, and the United States will be a key part of that growth. Trucks carry 69.1 percent the nation's domestic freight tonnage and hauled 9.7 billion tons of freight in 2013, according to the American Trucking Association. Daimler expects autonomous driving to augment this growth, and perhaps evolve the role of the truck driver. Still, the company points out autonomous tech is not meant to replace drivers, but to assist them and relieve fatigue and monotony on long hauls. The driver has to stay in control for passing, in city traffic, and when hooking up the trailer. The company said autonomous driving also offers the potential for improved fuel economy – tests showed a five-percent gain – and lower maintenance costs. Daimler also said the technology could reduce congestion on the road. Much of this is attributable to the constant flow of traffic, which is aided by autonomous driving. While the benefits are becoming increasingly apparent, autonomous technology is still met with skepticism.
