Relisted for the 4th time now due to winning bidders who could not afford to pay for the car.
*The three previous auction winners were all out out-of-state and never saw the car in person.  They simply realized they were not financially able to pay for the car and/or transporting the car to their locations.
*This car does need cosmetic TLC, and I have been completely honest about every last detail.  Having said that, this car runs&drives AMAZING.
*It drives like you would expect an '06 Mercedes Benz with 36,xxx miles to drive.
*PLEASE only bid if you are financially willing and able to purchase the car
*PLEASE DO NOT WASTE MY TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!

2006 Mercedes Benz CLK 500 ///AMG sport
-36,000 original miles
-VIN: WDBTJ75hH86F190250
-Black exterior on light grey interior
-Fully loaded
-Mechanically excellent
-Starts, runs, and drives perfect
-Firm & tight sporty handling
-Smooth & comfortable ride
-BRAND NEW tires all around (less than 50 miles on the new tires)

*I originally purchased this car for my wife about two years ago.  The car drove amazing and had a clean&clear title, however it did need some minor cosmetic TLC.  For example, the headliner had some cuts in it and the front fog lights were disconnected.  The trunk was also missing the spare tire, jack, and tools.  These were all minuscule things that did not really bother me.  I thoroughly checked and tested the car, it drove like a dream with no mechanical faults at all.

*A few weeks after buying the car I was fully stopped at a red light when suddenly a car hit me from the rear.  It was a young lady who was 'texting' and not paying attention to the road.  Luckily she was not going too fast so the damage was not too severe, however it was a collision nonetheless and both cars were damaged.
*Both insurance companies agreed and concluded that the collision was 100% her fault and she took full responsibility. Her insurance company 'totaled' my vehicle. However, I bought my vehicle back from the insurance company with the intentions of repairing the car, because the damage was purely cosmetic and I knew how great the car is.
*Unfortunately between the litigations between both insurance companies and the amount of time that elapsed before I actually received my check from the insurance company to repair the car, I lost interest in the car and have since purchased a new sport coupe.  My wife has also changed her mind about driving a two door and is looking towards a four door sedan.

The damage is purely cosmetic with no frame or structural damage whatsoever:
-The car is straight and true.
The trunk floor is untouched, the exhaust system is untouched, the suspension is untouched, the trunk lid is untouched, and the taillights are untouched.
-The car was NOT affected mechanically whatsoever. The car still runs & drives 100% as it did before the collision.
-I welcome any serious interested parties to check the car out, have it inspected by a professional, etc.

The extent of the damage:
-The ///AMG rear bumper cover has some minor cracking from the impact on the dip of the top horizontal section between the taillights (see photos). Luckily, it can easily be repaired by any professional shop. It does NOT need to be replaced, which saves a lot of money as a new OEM AMG bumper cover is very expensive (although their are aftermarket options).
-Both rear quarter panels were also dented slightly from the impact and will need to be repaired.
-I purchased the car from with tears on its interior headliner.
-Also the front fog lights need some attention.  At the moment they are not connected.
-All four wheels (rims) are all straight and true, but could use some cosmetic attention.  A simple respray would make them look brand-new.

*Please feel free to message me via eBay with any questions or concerns.  SERIOUS INQUIRES ONLY!
*I welcome and encourage any interested parties to come see this beauty in person to assess the extent of the damage for yourself.  You are more than welcome to bring along your mechanic, auto body specialist, etc.
*The 'Blue Book' value on this year/make/model/miles in fair condition is still in the very high teens, so I believe my price is more than fair.

This vehicle is sold as-is where-is with a NYS Salvage Certificate
ONLY BID IF YOU CAN AFFORD THE CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mercedes-Maybach GLS could become the most expensive car made in America

Mon, Mar 18 2019

Mercedes-Benz International, the German automaker's manufacturing facility near Vance and Tuscaloosa, Ala., already builds the GLS SUV. Autonews reports that the coming ultra-luxe version of the large crossover, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS, will be built in Alabama as well for global markets. The most recent timelines mark the reveal in production or near-production form in China, with sales to commence next year. The next-gen series-production GLS goes on sale later this year. The gilded sub-brand previewed a wild concept last year in China called the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury, which blended the tall profile of an SUV with the truck of a sedan on donk wheels. Based on spy shots, none of that fancy will make it to production. Both the Maybach and AMG versions of the GLS ride on fat rubber but look thoroughly traditional. The treasure will be inside. Autonews said China accounts for roughly 75 percent of Maybach S-Class sedan sales. That suggests the GLS in baroque trim will emphasize chauffeured luxury touches like rear captain's chairs and lots of rear legroom. Pricing estimates figure $200,000 to get in the door. That would put the SUV right in line with the Lamborghini Urus and a couple stacks of Benjamins above the Bentley Bentayga, with much the same likely audience. One analyst said, "The ultra-high-net-worth kids want something different, and these ultraluxury SUVs certainly fit that," while another opined on its "appeal to the Kardashians and hip-hoppers, if they want something slightly different to the G-Wagen." A $200K MSRP would also comfortably make the Maybach GLS the most expensive new car built in America, taking the title from the Acura NSX. With a great price comes great power, said to be a twin-turbo V8 with more than 560 horsepower. The coming GLS 450 will make do with somewhere around 360 hp. The Alabama plant, which also builds the GLE, GLE Coupe, and C-Class, is also undergoing a $1 billion upgrade to more than double the size of the facility, making lines for battery production and EQ-series vehicle assembly,

Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series gives the rich and famous what they want

Sat, Aug 17 2024

TOPANGA, Calif. – Give the people what they want, right? Especially if they're extremely wealthy. And possibly famous.  Apparently, the requests for a convertible Maybach from existing owners and/or celebrities were so frequent and insistent that the uber-luxury offshoot of Mercedes-Benz finally decided to give them just that. The 2025 Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series answers the call. While all other Maybachs are based on a Mercedes-Benz, this is the first Maybach to be based on a car developed by AMG: the current-generation SL 55 and SL 63. This presented a greater challenge to engineers than past efforts. Although a sportier Maybach was intended (as opposed to modern Maybach's first drop-top effort, the Maybach S 650 Cabriolet), the SL 680 is, not surprisingly, seeking a much different dynamic end goal than its AMG-only cousins. According to Maybach product manager Hannes Meyer, the far shorter wheelbase than the Maybach norm was a particular challenge in making sure that its convertible offering maintained "the same ease and nearly floating driving experience" expected of the brand. To that end, the Maybach SL shares the SL 63's air suspension and trick AMG Active Control interconnected hydraulically controlled dampers, but the tuning is changed, especially with the rear air springs as the driver sits closer to those. Meyer says the damper valves in particular have a greater range between sportiness and comfort than the SL 63. The steering system is totally Maybach-specific, including a different ratio and more upright front camber, resulting in what Meyer described as a more stable and less aggressive setup than what you'd find in the SL 63.  Before you start looking for a 6.8-liter engine in the Mercedes arsenal, remember that those numbers don't really mean anything anymore. The Maybach SL 680 has exactly the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 as the SL 63 good for 577 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The nine-speed AMG transmission is the same in terms of hardware, but it has totally different software. In particular, the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts are most different in order to provide a smoother, more Maybach acceleration experience. The 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system is also shared, but is programmed to have a more balanced front-to-rear power split than the rear-biased AMG. Finally, the exhaust has been retuned. Meyer said that up to 2,800 rpm, the exhaust isn't quieter than what you'd experience in the AMGs, it just has a different tone.

Why all of this year's F1 noses are so ugly [w/video]

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

If you're a serious fan of Formula One, you already know all about The Great Nosecone Conundrum of 2014. Those given to parsing each year's F1 regulations predicted the strong possibility of the so-called "anteater" noses as far back as early December 2013. Highly suggestive visual evidence first came after Caterham's crash test in early January, with further proof coming as soon as Williams showed a rendering of the FW36 challenger for this year's championship. That car earned a name that wasn't nearly so kind as "anteater."
Casual followers of the sport - or anyone who gets the feed from this site - probably don't know what's happening, except to wonder why the current year's F1 cars are led by appendages that would make Cyrano de Bergerac feel a whole lot better about himself.
The short answer to the question of ugsome F1 noses is "FIA regulations and safety." The reason there are various kinds of ugsome noses is simpler: engineers. The same boffins who have given us advances including carbon fiber monocoques, six-wheeled cars, double diffusers and Drag Reduction Systems are bred to do everything in their power to exploit every possible freedom in the regulations to make the cars they're building go faster - the caveat being that those advances have to work within the overall philosophy of the whole car.
