This is a beautiful Mercedes 4-seater convertible, in great condition. I'm only giving it up because it's time for me to upgrade to a new model, but this is still a highly desirable car with everything going for it and is going to make its next owner very happy for years to come. Perfect for weekend getaways up the coast, impressing your boss or significant other, or just putting the top down and enjoying the view.

Mechanically it runs great; it purrs like a kitten, handles comfortably, and has the same levels of pick-up it did when it was new. It has both a "sport" and "comfort" mode, as well as manual gear shift (to override the automatic transmission) when you feel like that extra oomph!

Interior and exterior are both in very good condition. I've always kept it immaculate, and the leather seats, floor mats, and carpets are in very good condition. It lives in the garage when I'm not driving it, and it still looks like a new car.

This is one of those few convertibles with an actual back seat; no problem transporting kids for just about any distance, and four adults can also fit for quick trips across town. The trunk is decent-sized for a convertible as well; I can always fit all my bags when I head to the airport on a business trip. And there's a partitioner that folds up when the top is up for extra trunk space.

Great sound system; Harmon-Karden surround sound with sub-woofer. Satellite radio enabled, terrestrial radio, or listen to your 6 CD changer.

It's still an eye-turner; the valets continue to park it in front of the restaurant and I still get people on the street saying "hey, nice car" to me.  Enjoy!

Race Recap: 2013 Japanese Grand Prix flips several scripts [spoilers]

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

Japan's Suzuka circuit is a great track that all the drivers love, but it doesn't usually provide the most thrilling, head-to-head racing. Where it does excel, however, is with surprises and "What just happened there?!" moments, and this year it was no different.
It started with Mark Webber in his Infiniti Red Bull Racing out-qualifying his teammate Sebastian Vettel for the first time this year. They were followed closely by Lewis Hamilton in the first Mercedes-AMG Petronas, the still-solid Romain Grosjean again outdoing teammate Kimi Räikkönen, Felipe Massa racing for another seat in Formula One and putting his Ferrari in fifth, then Nico Rosberg in the second Mercedes, Nico Hülkenberg in the first Sauber, Fernando Alonso in the second Ferrari, and Räikkönen continuing to do himself no favors by qualifying tenth.
For the second year in a row, the lights going out was the cue to start the first corner action...

Dartz promises own 6x6 G-Class with golden shishas and a dining room

Mon, 25 Mar 2013

So you didn't really think Dartz Motorz was going to let the limited-production, 544-horsepower Mercedes 6x6 G63 AMG go without a challenge, did you? Picking up the gauntlet as only Dartz can, the Russian dream-makers have come up with the Sahara G-eopard, supposedly a special request from a buyer to make one of the 'standard' six-wheelers "more opulent and insane."
That means the vehicle from the factory gets extended by about a foot (30 centimeters), coach doors in the rear, a "yacht floor" and air conditioning that runs on its own power source, Asanti 24-inch Gold Bullion wheels and a water dispenser with Russian diamonds, which the owner will need to fill the golden shishas (hookahs) in the portable smoking room. That's right, you heard the man: a portable smoking room. Where the occupants will retire when they're finished in the portable dining room. Of course.
Yes, it will even have leopard spotting painted onto its nano-coating, and so much more. You can check out the press release below from the source. Try not to be jealous.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
