Up for auction is my 2001 Mercedes Benz CLK-430 AMG Convertible. I traded this car to some good friends of mine for a BMW 750il sport about 4 months ago.  They are seniors and this was the wife's car for nice days.  Unfortunately, her mobility has been compromised over the years and she was no longer able to get in and out of this car due to it being so low.  They really liked by BMW and asked if I would trade.. So as a favor I said yes.... I miss my BMW. Anyway, I don't need this car so here it is for sale.

The car has a salvage title due to marginal front and rear damage.. My friends purchased the car from a friend of theirs who was the original owner.  It was involved in a slow speed accident up in Napa, California.  It was pushed from the rear into the car in front of it at a signal.  I viewed the car when it was brought down here and it was fully functional and really only had minor bumper damage and the hood was bent around the grill area.  They had the rear bumper and the hood replaced.  I do know that the front bumper was repaired as it wasn't the bad.  I really am not sure why it was salvaged.. it was a simple repair and really didn't cost much.  The car was put on a laser frame machine and checked for any damage before it was repaired and it was deemed that there was no damage or movement at all to the body.  All off the door gaps are factory.  Everything including the top works and fits perfect and required NO repair due to it's minor accident.  That will tell you that the damage was marginal..

The car is the factory black out AMG sport edition.  (Actually a factory black metallic.  It "appears" black, but is actually a deep dark charcoal grey...a rare color).  It does have many unique Mercedes options as you can see in the pictures including the rare, upgraded factory Bose stereo with GPS and CD changer in the trunk. Also has the adaptive stability control for far better handling than a standard CLK. Comes with rear factory deluxe wind screen package with complete rear seat screens and a rare set of factory rubber heavy duty Mercedes all weather CLK floor mats. Everything works properly.  Ice cold A/C.  I know that the climate control panel was just professionally replaced with a rebuilt unit.  Per my friend, it recently underwent full service including:

1. Spark plugs
2. Valve cover and breather gaskets/seals
3. New radiator about 6 months ago with cooling system flush and factory Mercedes coolant installed.
4. New belt and tensioner
5. New water pump and thermostat at time of radiator
6. oil and filter within the last 500 miles
7. Transmission flush and service with factory Mercedes filter and fluid.
8. New brakes on all 4 corners with factory pads 300 miles ago.
9. Brand new complete set of Continental Extreme Contact Directional tires- all 4 with 500 miles
10.New air filters
11.New cabin filter
12.New top of the line Interstate battery made specifically for these cars.

I am sure there is more, but this is all I can remember from my conversation with my friend.  They are very particular and always have their cars repaired and serviced with factory parts and fluid.  Take a look at the pictures.. you can see it is a very clean car as it has been garaged as long as my friends have had it and I believe it was garaged in Napa.. It has always been owned by seniors, so it has never been abused, raced, or neglected. It has really only been spoiled.  I think that is why my friends decided to buy it from their friend and have it repaired. Drives straight, quiet, and solid.

HAS THE RARE EUROPEAN BLUE GLASS OPTION!!

If you are looking for a beautiful Mercedes convertible and the rare AMG model, then this is it.  Absolutely clean chassis and suspension. No  leaks ever! Yes it has a salvage title, but only due to a lazy insurance rep. Didn't have any major damage and you can tell when you see and drive the car! I am selling the car as I simply have no use for it.  I only traded them for my absolutely beautiful 750il sport "Die another Day" model in the rarest of all optional colors (Did I mention that I miss my BMW?) as a favor as they are good friends of mine and were fearful of having strangers over to their house to see the car if they sold it themselves, being seniors. Look at the pictures, ask any questions you can think of, and make an offer.  It is being sold under value due to the technicality  of the salvage title.  A rare change to get a great price on a very rare Mercedes Cabriolet.. Ver nice, used car that has been cared for condition.. Draws admires wherever you drive her... she just glows. Current title and registration in my name and comes with a current california emissions/smog test. Passed perfectly clean!

Thank you...

Car technology I'm thankful and unthankful for

Mon, Nov 27 2017

The past few years have seen a surge of tech features in new vehicles — everything from cloud-based content to semi-autonomous driving. While some of it makes the driving experience better, not all tech is useful or well thought out. Automakers who are adept at drivetrains, ride quality and in-cabin comforts often fail at infotainment interfaces and connectivity. From testing dozens of vehicles each year and in the spirit of gratitude, here are three car tech features I'm thankful — and a trio I could live without. Thanks Connected search: This seems like a no-brainer since everyone already has it on their smartphones, but not all automakers include it in the dashboard and as part of their nav systems. The best ones, such as Toyota Entune, leverage a driver's connected device to search for a range of services and don't charge a subscription or require a separate data plan for the car. I also like how systems like Chrysler Uconnect use Yelp or other apps to find everything from coffee to gas stations and allow searching via voice recognition. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto: It took two of the largest tech companies to get in-dash infotainment right. While they have their disadvantages (you're forced to use Apple Maps with CarPlay, for example), the two smartphone-integration platforms make it easier and safer to use their respective native apps for phoning, messaging, music and more behind the wheel by transferring a familiar UI to the dashboard — with no subscription required. Heated seats and steering wheels: I really appreciate these simple but pleasant features come wintertime. It's easy to get spoiled by bun-warmers on frosty mornings and using a heated steering wheel to warm the cold hands. I recently tested a 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Coupe that also had heated armrest that added to a cozy luxury experience. Bonus points for brands like Buick that allow setting seat heaters to turn on when the engine is remotely started. No thanks Automaker infotainment systems: Automakers have probably poured millions into creating their own infotainment systems, with the result largely being frustration on the part of most car owners. And Apple CarPlay and Android Auto coming along to make them obsolete. While some automaker systems, such as Toyota Entune and FCA's Uconnect, are easy and intuitive to use, it seems that high-end systems (I'm looking at you BMW iDrive and Mercedes-Benz COMAND) are the most difficult.

Petrolicious profiles mustard 1972 Mercedes-Benz 280 ready to go anywhere

Thu, Feb 5 2015

The Mercedes-Benz sedans of the '70s and early '80s are certainly attractive models, but with their hard lines, the four-doors really don't have the graceful curves usually associated with a beautiful car. Instead, it's much more accurate to call these classic Germans handsome. The W114 chassis especially has a powerful stance about it with an upright grille dominating the front and long, flat surfaces elsewhere. Petrolicious takes a look at one man's journey to restore one of these posh vehicles in its latest video. Bernard Bredehorn grew up in the back of his grandparents' W116-chassis Mercedes 280 SE, and when he eventually got a classic of his own, Bredehorn ended up with a 1972 Mercedes 280. However, the sedan was in need of a complete restoration and sat for years in a friend's garage buried under parts. Bredehorn eventually excavated the car and brought it back to life in a very '70s shade of mustard yellow. Petrolicious shows why this classic Mercedes is now happy eat up many trouble-free miles on Germany's roads.

2014 Mercedes-Benz B-Class ED has 87-mile range, 84 MPGe

Fri, Jul 11 2014

Well, that extra weight had to be felt somewhere. With Mercedes-Benz getting ready to start US sales of its B-Class Electric drive this summer, the big question was how well its range would stack up against other electric vehicles sold in the States. Turns out, the Benz is a bit of a juice hog. Let's say up front that the 87-mile single-charge range of the Mercedes-Benz actually stacks up nicely against its competition, since that distance puts the new model right in line with the Nissan Leaf and BMW i3 (we'll ignore the Tesla Model S for a second, here). You can find the numbers at the US Department of Energy's FuelEconomy website. As far as miles per gallon equivalent ratings, though, the Benz's steel frame makes it come up short, as it's about 1,300 pounds heavier than the carbon-fiber-body i3 and about 600 pounds heavier than the Leaf. The B-Class EV has a bigger battery than the i3 or the Leaf (36 kWh compared to 22 kWh for the i3 and 24 kWh for the Leaf) and that's one reason the car gets an 84 MPGe rating, which is about 26 percent less than the Leaf's and 32 percent less than the i3's. But at least the local utility companies will be happy. Mercedes-Benz priced the 177-horsepower B-Class ED in April at $41,450, or $100 more than the i3.
