Up for bid is a 2000 Mercedes CLK320 Cabriolet that was purchased new at Beverly Hills Mercedes and was used a commuter vehicle between San Diego and San Francisco, which is 500 miles each way.   This is the reason the miles are what they are.

The car runs and drives very well.  The engine fires right up.  I was told the transmission was replaced around 40k miles ago and it shifts smooth in all gears.  The engine and transmission are in good operating condition without any know issues.

The front suspension will need some work as it is worn from use.  The car is drive-able as it is but these items will need to be addressed as they are simply worn out from use. The video was of this car driving down the highway yesterday and all of the photos inthe video were taken on Sunday July 13, 2014.

The retractable power top is in very nice condition with no visible damage in the material.  It goes up and down as it should.  It also has the factory Mercedes wind deflector which limits wind buffering with the top down while on the highway.

The air conditioning blows cold and the heater works as it should.  It has power windows that go up and down as they should.  The car has dual power seats that operate correctly.

The car has a factory AM/FM cassette with 6 disc changer which is in/op.  It does not light up at all. The leather seats have average wear for a 14 year old automobile with a few small wear marks on the driver’s seat.  Please see picture. The headliner is in very nice condition.  The airbag sensor light is on.

The original black paint is in decent condition for being 14 years old with no major issues.  It does have several minor dings and dents.  Both the front and rear bumper have minor nicks.

The check engine light is on because it has a bad airflow meter.  Some of the other dash lights are on because some of the fuses were pulled out in an attempt to try and fix the radio.  We put the fuses back in and when we started the car these came on for the first time.

All in all you are bidding to buy a clean 14 year old Mercedes Convertible that runs and drives but has been driven up and down California’s Highway 5 for an above average amount of time.  It will need front end work but is drive-able in its present condition.

Please do not think you are buying a perfect Mercedes Convertible, this car will need some attention and is priced accordingly.

The important items like the body is still in nice condition and the engine and transmission operate correctly. The car still gets decent gas mileage and would be an ideal restoration candidate for the right individual.

The bidding starts at only .99

Don’t miss out on this rare opportunity to get a running and driving original California Mercedes CLK Convertible for a starting bid of only .99 with a priced to sell low reserve.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

New Die Hard movie wrecked 132 cars in $11 million chase scene [w/video]

Sat, 16 Feb 2013

It would seem the act of dying hard brings with it lots of wanton destruction of the four-wheeled kind. According to John Moore, director of A Good Day To Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis, There were 132 (cars) that could never be used again. Another 518 required a lot of work. And damn right there were some good cars there... That's the fun of it."
Please join us in one great big collective sigh. Done? Okay, let's continue.
"With Die Hard it's about how audacious the action is," says Moore. "So you have to drive over a Lamborghini. An actual one. And yes it hurts me. I'm a car fanatic." Yeah. Sounds like it hurt really bad... though not as bad as the final tally after all the carnage had been counted: "Someone showed me the numbers on the car chase and soup to nuts, you put it all together it was like an $11 million sequence."

Carlsson turns Mercedes-Benz SLK into 610-HP hill-climb clawer

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

Carlsson's race-tuned versions of the Mercedes-Benz SLK have been taking checkered flags for years, and we won't be surprised if its SLK 340 hill climber fares any different. Developed by multiple German and Swiss hill climb champion Reto Meisel, the carbon-bodied SLK 340 with lightweight brakes and a closed underbody weighs 1,716 pounds. Propelling that tiny bit of weight is a 3.4-liter V8 from Judd with 610 horsepower, and it rolls on 18-inch wheels shod in Avon tires.
It will debut at the Geneva Motor Show before beginning its racing campaigns in the summer. This one won't just tear up roads in Europe, though - Meisel says he plans on bringing it to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The press release below has more details.
