You are bidding on a 2001 CL55 AMG in beautiful condition. The car drives and runs really well, and a joy to show off. The engine sounds great, runs strong and powerful. Car comes from warmer (south) climate than Chicagoland, where it sits now. I have owned it for nearly two years. I have only driven it a few times during the winter and otherwise stored in my nice warm/dry garage during this season. No sign of rust anywhere I have seen.

There are the usual wear marks on the car, although very little considering its young age. I have tried to capture them all on the photos. As examples, you can see the blemishes on the front bumper where the top coat has "blistered" in some areas (not noticeable unless up close), and a few small dings on side panels, and some scratches on the lower/center part of back bumper. Body is otherwise in great shape and paint is beautiful. Absolutely love how this paint type changes appearance with the changing outside light and time of day. I always receive many compliments from car owners who know what this machine is.

The only body work I have done to car, and that I can see ever was done to the car, is the rear (trunk) spoiler had a small crack in it when I bought it. A local body shop fixed and painted it for me. To my knowledge, all features of the car work excepts the driver's seat massage feature. I have not tried to fix it nor had it quoted for repair so it could be cheap or expensive but I don't know. A feature frankly I have never needed so just not worth fixing for me.

The car has been maintained by St. Charles Motorsports (IL) while I have owned it - a great local high-end shop (Porsche, BMW's, MBZ, Ferrari's etc. etc. are always in their shop).

I am picky with my cars so we have put a lot more into the car than I am asking. Your gain, my loss!

To name a few of the items we have done (bought at 53,000 miles on car):

1. Custom 19" wheels and tires with only 2,000 miles on the them (maximum).  Continental Extreme ZR rated. A fantastic and strong tire for this powerful car.
2. Serviced all brakes with new pads, new discs in rear, and machined front discs.
3. Rear Spoiler repair (mentioned above).
4. New rubber grommets on side mirrors (most used cars have these broken - looks horrible so we put new ones on).
5. Added a MBZ cup holder (and engineering marvel).
6. Bought complete new operating manuals and Navigation discs. Old ones were incomplete.
7. Added a second new key (two keys come with car).
8. Replaced driveshaft rubber coupling and balanced shaft.
9. A/C fully serviced - 500 miles ago.
10. Car serviced 1,500 miles ago. Next oil change service at approx. 67,000 miles.
11. All oils and fluids replaced when I bought car (brake fluid, transmission, rear differential, coolant) - about 10,000 miles ago. Not needed according to MBZ or the manual but I did it just because...
12. New water pump and serpentine belt - 500 miles ago.
13. Replaced left rear tail light (entire light fixture) as circuit board caused light diodes to "flicker" on a rare occasion.
....and many more details.

Good luck bidding and please ask questions if you need clarification.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class leads this month's list of discounts

Mon, Jul 19 2021

Like last month, the biggest discounts car buyers will find on new vehicles are all applied to expensive luxury sedans. Unlike last month when there were two, there isn't a single Rolls-Royce to be found anywhere in the top five. Sorry, one-percenters. But just because the pinnacle of European luxury isn't represented doesn't mean there aren't big discounts to be found on lovely luxury sedans. In fact, this month's list is led by the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, a technological wonder that coddles its driver and passengers with all the bells and whistles the German brand has to offer. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is offered in many shapes and sizes with several powertrain options. That means there will be a huge variance in prices across the model range, but on average, 2020 S-Class buyers are seeing $11,803 lopped off the car's $109,447 sticker price, leaving an average transaction price of $97,644. That's a savings of nearly 11%. It's worth noting that there's a new S-Class for 2021, but the 2020 edition is still a lovely machine. Up next is the Porsche Taycan, sitting in second place just like it did last month. Buyers are seeing average sticker prices of $125,736 but are paying $113,938. That's a savings of $11,798 — or about 9.4% — off the price on the window sticker. As was the case last month, we're not sure how many of the Taycan's buyers will be able to claim tax rebates due to the Taycan's status as an electric vehicle, but that could potentially represent a further cut off the car's sticker. Rounding out the top three for the month of July is the Maserati Ghibli. With an average discount of $10,161 that represents a whopping 14.3% of the car's sticker price, this Italian luxury sedan actually leads the list of vehicle discounts when ranked by percentage. And if you're a Maserati fan but the Ghibli isn't your cup of espresso, the Levante crossover and larger Quattroporte sedan are also seeing very large discounts. The 10 car brands most expensive to maintain over 10 years

Mon, Apr 22 2024

Car maintenance has got to be one of the least fun things you can do with your free time, right behind going to the dentist and filing your taxes. However, depending on the brand you buy, your time spent at the shop could be much more than you bargained for. Consumer Reports’ new study on the most- and least-expensive-to-maintain car brands found that European car companies are most likely to break your wallet with costs nearly five times that of the automakers at the other end of the spectrum. Land Rover had the highest ten-year maintenance costs, at an average of $19,250. Porsche was second worst with $14,090 in costs. 10 car brands most expensive to maintain over 10 years: Land Rover: $19,250 Porsche: $14,090 Mercedes-Benz: $10,525 Audi: $9,890 BMW: $9,500 Volvo: $9,285 Infiniti: $8,500 Acura: $7,800 Mini: $7,625 Subaru: $7,200 The Euro brands at the “top” of this list arenÂ’t all that surprising. Land Rover has consistently landed as one of the most expensive vehicle brands to maintain for years now, though Porsche is generally viewed as being one of the more solid performance brands. That could suggest that some models donÂ’t always require more repairs, but the fixes they do need are significantly more expensive. Tesla, Buick, and Toyota were the three cheapest to maintain car brands, with 10-year maintenance costs of $4,035, $4,900, and $4,900, respectively. Consumer Reports noted that these numbers could be slightly skewed due to the fact that some automakers offer free maintenance for the first few years of ownership, and all companies cover their new vehicles for at least a few years after the purchase. Routine maintenance is a great way to avoid costly repairs over time, as itÂ’s much cheaper to catch a problem before it starts causing other issues. Check your oil, rotate your tires, and avoid driving like a wild person, and youÂ’ll likely fare much better than others, even if you own one of the scarier-to-maintain brands.
