2003 Mercedes C230

You are viewing a well care for 2003 Mercedes C230 Sport, legendary supercharged 1.8 liter engine, Silver, with Black Leather interior.  This is a loaded with all power windows, seats, and sunroof.  If you are reviewing this ad, I probably don’t need to explain very much since you already know the reliability and longevity of these vehicles.  This is a two owner Florida car and has zero rust with a spotless finish.   It looks new on the outside with only a two very small dings!!  The interior is also perfect with no issues except just normal wear – absolutely no rips or tears anywhere on the leather interior.

This car has been totally maintained using Mercedes qualified technicians and I have the paperwork to backup what is being said in this ad.  The car has ALL major maintenance completed.  It also has a new factory battery, total A/C replacement, complete transmission service to include transmission plate replacement.  Like I said, and I am not exaggerating, everything that needed to get done has been done.  It needs nothing and drives like a dream.  Oil has been changed on 5K intervals using full synthetic Mobile One 5w-30.  The only reason I am letting it go is due to my wife's job. She drives over 500 miles a week and she needs a more economical vehicle. nbsp;
Like I said and the pictures will show, the exterior is perfect and has been babied and pampered since I got it.  The previous owner always had it serviced by Mercedes in Pensacola.  It has never been in an accident as the CARFAX will show, never been mechanically modified at all and has been primarily highway driven between Crestview, FL and Andalusia, AL. It starts, runs, drives and handles as nicely as a brand-new one at a fraction of the cost new.  The tires and rims are near perfect with about 70% remaining tread.

You can expect 29-32 MPG highway assuming you stay at or below 75 mph.  I estimate city driving to be around 20-22 MPG, but I can’t really verify since I only did highway driving in it.

Mercedes engines are near bulletproof and easily last 300K if it has proper maintenance.  With a low initial starting price and no reserve, this C230 is sure to sell, please complete all inspections BEFORE bidding...if you win the auction, you own the car.

I welcome any and all questions you might have prior to bidding on this car. I do reserve the right to end the auction early if the car sells locally prior to the end of auction.  I can be reached anytime at (850) 502-9349.

Winning bidder agrees to forward a $500 dollar partial payment at end of auction via direct bank wire transfer or by overnighted cashier's check, money order or certified funds. Balance will be due within seven days of end of auction or at time of pick up or delivery, whichever comes first. I will help in any way possible to arrange transportation. I can store the car as long as needed until pick up can be arranged, as long as it's paid for.

Because of people who bid and do not contact me or pay, I am being forced to implicate a rule pertaining to low-feedback bidders. ANY BIDDER WHO BIDS, WITH A FEEDBACK OF 5 OR LESS, WILL HAVE THEIR BID RETRACTED IMMEDIATELY unless they contact me first, prior to bidding. I hope everyone understands, but a few bad apples have spoiled the proverbial bunch. Thanks for understanding.

Please remember, this is not a new car, it is a used vehicle and, as such, it does have wear and tear consistent with the age of the vehicle. It is not perfect, although it is VERY nice and it is definitely in excellent condition.  . I do everything I can to describe vehicles as accurately as possible, but I am human and I may miss something occasionally. Please, if you want to come and look at it, do so BEFORE bidding...or call or email me and I will answer any questions you may have.  Thanks, David!

Why it's difficult to accurately test the efficiency of a plug-in car

Thu, Feb 5 2015

When it comes to electric vehicles and plug-ins in general, the Environmental Protection Agency-certified range is a hugely important number. While actual range anxiety is largely psychological, the magic number does provide a point of comparison of buyers considering one EV over another. The driving distance is also often touted by automakers when marketing their models. Unfortunately, as Green Car Reports finds in a recent deep dive, the way the EPA calculates the figure is a convoluted mess, and discovering the reasons why is definitely worth the read. The issue isn't about bad science but instead comes down to vague wording. The EPA's accepted range test is sourced from an evaluation called J-1634 from the Society of Automotive Engineers, and it seems to provide balanced results for vehicles that automatically reach a single state of charge when plugged in. However for models with multiple charge settings, the situation gets complicated very quickly. Of course, these modes are often created in the software, meaning that a car's certified driving distance can change with just a few taps of the keyboard without the real world results owners might experience actually changing. By showing the test's effects on the certified range for the Tesla Model S, Nissan Leaf and Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive over the last few years, Green Car Reports makes a compelling argument that it's the evaluation that needs to change. Thankfully, it appears that the solution is a very simple one. Get the details here.

Mercedes S-Class Magic Body Control ad is clucking awesome

Tue, 24 Sep 2013

This is a new ad from Mercedes-Benz. At no point does it show an automobile. Instead, it stars animals, but not the sort you might normally see in car commercial. This ad is all about chickens. It is bizarre, to say the least, with Diana Ross and the Supremes belting it out in the background, but it all kind of comes together when you realize just what Mercedes is hawking (yeah, pun intended).
It's for the manufacturer's Magic Body Control, found on the new S-Class. The system basically analyzes the road and prepares the suspension accordingly, leading to a ride that is, in the words of our own Chris Paukert "nothing short of spooky." You can read about it in our full review of the 2014 S550. Take a look below for the 53-second spot.

Aston Martin tipped for F1 return with Red Bull, Mercedes

Mon, Jul 6 2015

Aston Martin could be plotting a return to Formula One for the first time in over half a century. And not as a backmarker, either. That is, at least, if the latest rumors materialize. While most automakers that participate in F1 do so as either a team owner (like Ferrari and Mercedes) or as an engine supplier (think Renault or Honda), the rumored Aston Martin deal would take a different approach. According to Autosport, the proposal would have the Red Bull Racing team run Aston Martin branding – but not its engines. Those would be provided by Mercedes, just like the engines in the British marque's upcoming slate of road cars. In that regard, the deal would not be unlike the one which Red Bull currently has with the Renault-Nissan Alliance, which sees the team running Renault engines and Infiniti branding. Andy Palmer was a pivotal figure in brokering that unusual arrangement when he was working for Carlos Ghosn, and is now tipped to be brokering a similar deal in his new capacity as Aston Martin's CEO. Though Aston has found glory in sports car racing (including Le Mans and its various associated series), it was never much of a contender in grand prix racing. It competed in a handful of races in 1959 and 1960, but never achieved results worth bragging about. Aston was rumored to be plotting a return when David Richards sat as chairman of the company, having run Aston's racing program as well as Honda's F1 team previously. Those rumors, however, never materialized. Whether this time 'round gains any traction remains to be seen - Aston Martin declined to either confirm or deny the reports when reached for comment by Autoblog. Red Bull has been growing increasingly dissatisfied (and increasingly vocal about its dissatisfaction) with Renault engines over the past couple of seasons. Though the two parties won four back-to-back world titles together, things took a noticeable step backward after the new turbo engine regulations took hold for the 2014 season. Nissan/Infiniti and Red Bull are contracted to continue collaborating until the end of next season. After that is when the new Aston deal could take hold, and Mercedes is reportedly keen on the idea so that it could add another customer to its F1 engine supply business and offset the costs of development. That could effectively prove the end of Renault in F1 (at least for the time being). Aside from Red Bull, the French automaker currently supplies only that outfit's sister team Toro Rosso.
